Seeing where hip hop and drill have gone is really cool. Being from the states I didn't really know about how rough it was to break into Drill in the Uk and other places not having a London accent. People need to learn having different people and styles from everywhere only makes the music better.
This is not always true , you could make strong arguments for certain music "working better" with certain voices and/or accents. For example, any of Bob Marley's songs take on a different feel if delivered with a Russian or Indian accent ... though in the end individual "enjoyment of music" is subjective, entire thesis' can be written around this subject.
I started rapping along to my favorite artists when I was like 13. I started writing limericks and other stanzas around then. I start rapping when I was 19. I started to record music in my mid 20's. I put together my first body of work in my 30's. Producing, engineering, writing. Also going to school for digital audio engineering. Learning to juggle the 1's and 2's. Learning everything behind music. To represent me, as a female. So that no one could control, my music, my art, my message, or tell me what to say or to wear. Or how to spit. Because when you dont know, you've now left that in the hands of other people to handle. And now you become handled. I'm 44 now, and I'm still making music. One has to start somewhere.. even though you might take awhile to record. It might take you, a minute to get everything together. It might take you lots of different trails, to stay the course. Nobody is going to be prepared for what will be released, when it all comes together. All good things comes to those who wait. The more you cultivate your craft, and learn every aspect of it. Let everyone else jump in, tread water, burn out. Those who have love for what they do, will never stop, but flourish and inspire others. Everything has a beginning and end. Everything has to start some where. Time is irrelevant when you have love and passion.
