I'm cutting the pages for my disc bounded bullet journal while watching this video! Thanks to you I discovered the disc bounding system, it's so easy to use and it's great when it comes to journals and projects! Thanks for all the inspirations!
I think for the first time ever I’m going to actually post a recommendation on my Facebook page and my family chat messenger about you that is the biggest compliment I could ever offer as I’ve been alive for more than 40 years and I never even thought about doing this so again thank you
I can't wait to snag some of these! I'm constantly jotting down notes in random notebooks all over, and always lose my plans, and ideas. I love that I could easily punch papers, and re-arrange in any order I want! Love your videos! So excited for you & your new space!
I have a few questions about disk binding, I hope that's okay. 1. How well does paper hold up when it is taken out and put back into a notebook 2, 3, 4 times or more? Do they still hold well? 2. While we're on the topic, how well do these notebooks hold up? If you take it with you, do pages or discs ever fall out? Have you ever lost single discs because of that? 3. Do you think a temporary way of putting things into this system would work? Say you have a document, a ticket, a postcard, anything you want to put in there, but don't want to punch holes into but also don't want to put stickers on, like you showed in a previous video? Maybe something like a thicker plastic pouch or something that you can punch holes into? I know a lot of people like to have keepsakes in their bullet journals, but might not want them permanently there for some reason. I've been thinking about trying this system but since it's a little bit of an investment to get started, I'd like to be sure the money wouldn't be completely wasted for me personally.
SmilyLily1996 if you're concerned about the paper getting damaged when transferring over multiple times, you could always cut away the old tabs with scissors or a cutter and re punch them. The paper would be shorter but it would still work
I use this system for my daily planner. I take it to university in my backpack every day and it never got damaged or discs fell out. I have thick covers, which I made myself and these are a little bigger than the papersize I use for my normal pages, so they keep their edges from any damage. Also you can try finding a plastic pouch with ziplock on amazon, I know that Staples sells those on their website, but I think they are also available on amazon. These are already punched and can be put into your notebook multiple times without being damaged. Also I have some kind of a bookmark in my planner which I switch to the next page every week. Until now this was no problem at all. I covered it in sticky foil, normally used for the outside of books and burned the edges with a hot needle. Now it is really enduring :) I hope this helped and I did not do too many grammar and spelling mistakes ^^°
For pages that get moved around frequently, I use washi tape before I punch the pages to keep the hole punches from tearing. I was sceptical of a disc bound system but once I started i quickly changed my mind. I don't know how I survived without it!!!!
1. I use the big Happy Planner, using only 3 months at a time to keep room for my school notebook. I have to remove and put back papers constantly. I haven't had issues with the paper (the Happy Planner paper, regular notebook paper, or the graph paper I like to use) tearing or anything. 2. I've been using this system for about 2 years now and I bring my Happy Planner & notebook combo every day to school and meetings. I have never lost a disc, and I've only lost paper that wasn't punched or in a folder pocket. 3. Folder pockets are awesome and compatible with this system. I've had to make my own folder/divider pockets because I'm picky, and there are several tutorials on UA-cam. Happy Planner, Levenger, Arc, and Tul all have pocket options. I love this system for my planner and notebook. It's a bit tough when first getting into it, but it's definitely worth it.
Oh wow *mind blown* VERTICAL DISCBOUND!!! So great! I've recently been looking into disc bound planners but their all side bound. I thought about creating one from scratch and doing a top bound is a really great idea!!
Wow, I so needed to see this today. I was just thinking I don’t know where to start I have so many ideas rolling around. What a great idea 💡, thank you.
Wow 😮 I think this system is awesome. I’m going to order the puncher and discs to get started. Perfect time as I’ve got 2 new clients and everything else. Thanks
Love the disk bound book! Looking forward to trying this for my sketchbooks. Going to try to laminate the cut part to see if it holds up better through use//removal. Thanks!
You are my absolute favorite Artist! Why- All the reasons are personified in this video! You are an amazing creative, teacher, and wonderfully satisfying to listen to! I just decided to try bullet journaling thanks to you ha ha and spent three months just collecting videos and categorizing things and collecting supplies in I really wanted to start but I just didn’t know where to start but you’ve given me the answer I am a paper freak so I decided to make my own top that’s project number one..... I just decided to try bullet journaling thanks to you ha ha and it spent three months just collecting videos and categorizing things and collecting supplies in I really wanted to start but I just didn’t know where to start but you’ve given me the answer I am a paper freak so I decided to make my own top that’s project number oneThank You. Sorry for the stream of consciousness
Love this system! I do a lot of costuming for high school and middle school theater productions-usually 4 productions per academic year. I use a disc bound system to keep scripts, notes, and makeup sketches in for each production. The most difficult thing for me is the archiving because I have limited shelf space. I’m thinking about going to something more like a magazine box (is that what they’re called?) because between the scripts and sketches, it’s A LOT of paper. So enjoy your videos, especially the organization and bookbinding...and sketches...and office hacks.... okay, I just enjoy your videos! Thanks for sharing!!! 😁
I love this idea. It's perfect for my happy life planner from last year- been wondering what to do with it because the disc binders would've been a waste to throw away.
I love your videos... you speak so clearly and describe every step so nicely. I am thinking of jumping into disk binding and found an Etsy store called Discbound Marketplace that sells sets of 11 discs, lots of colors and sizes, for less than $5 per set. Also, I found Levengers (which is pretty pricy - theirs run from $29 to $35 for sets of 11, but they have some very elegant styles... tortoiseshell, aurora, etc. thanks for the inspiration.
Because of your tips I've made lots of projects with discbinding. For this year I have a planner and a sketch book. I've bought lots of Happy Planner discs for files and future projects. By the way, UA-cam isn't send me your videos. I don't know why. I use to watch in the time you post but that is the second time it's happened. Thanks for tell us about your videos in Instagram. 😘😘😘
This is a great idea for organizing my creative projects. I can adopt it quite seamlessly. I am absolutely that scattered creative person. I have many projects going at once and I have a ton of the details in my brain, but the little physical pieces of paper with notes and sketches and calculations get EVERYWHERE and I waste way too much time trying to find the sticky note I wrote critical information on for one project or another then left the tiny paper separate from the project and separate from every other piece of paper important to the project. You see my problem. I make myself crazy doing this. It happens all the time. This is a perfect solution. I have some disc-bound books I have made and have a paper punch so I am good to go. Thanks for the inspiration. Genius.
Here's how I organize my creative projects in my DIY discbound notebook system! This helps me stay productive and accomplish my goals. How do you stay on track with your creative projects and goals? More discbound videos in this playlist: bit.ly/MoreDisc
Although I didn't tried how to make a discbound book but those highlighter chips I already used as in my book projects.........for my notes to mark the subjects☺☺☺☺☺☺

Ahhh such an awesome idea !! I just picked up some top flip over for note books for bullet journaling. I would have never thought to use my extra happy planner rings 🤯🤪
What a great video - I have never seen anything like yours online where there is help for getting organized like how I need to! TY for this video! Right now, I use journaling notebooks that are spiral bound and while very pretty in style and color, does not allow me to remove the pages. I would love to take those journal notebooks and use discs for them so I can make them unique and personalized in organization for 'me'! I have to watch all your other vids now!!! :)
Thank you so much! I've always been the one to lose everything because I've been pushed into systems of note-taking that are enforced by my states curriculum in schools. I have always struggled with notebooks but I hate binders. They just aren't compatible with my ADHD brain. I do love note books, but I'm left handed and have to do paper acrobatics with them. The constant turning of my papers and binders is so annoying. Even more so when someone accidentally knocks your binder off the desk when walking past you because you have to literally turn your binder almost half way off the desk in order to write a decent sentence. When I saw your videos I swear I heard angels sing. I love top bound note books, but can never find them. I was also looking into the arc notebooks to see if they were worth it. When I watched your videos everything clicked into place, leaving me with the feeling of indescribable joy. Everything clicked into place. I'm finally free!
You are absolutely glowing! I wish I could afford the disc system it is such a perfect tool to let you organise things. I wish I could get my son to organise himself. He is autistic and he finds coordinating things that he does difficult. I’m sure that your kids will all be well organised! 😉👶🏻🎉🚼
You are the most organized and professional young UA-cam creator I've ever seen. Seriously impressive. If you ever wanted to get a "real" job, all you'd have to do is show them these videos and they'd all get into a bidding war to hire you. And... hope this doesn't sound like I'm wearing judgy pants but... I also appreciate the way you obviously don't feel the need to wear loads of makeup in order to be confident and relaxed! Men don't need to wear makeup, so why do women?
Have you ever dropped one of these disc-bound notebooks? I'd love to try the system out, but I'm so rough with books and notebooks that I'm afraid if I drop it everything will scatter! Love your videos!
I like the top bound idea! I prefer translucent covers with a nice dashboard underneath (minimal) so I just need to figure out how to get the material or find a seller who will custom it for me. I don’t use as a planner but more for files at work that I always refer to (reporting, budgeting, strategic plan, references, etc). Top bound will give me more notebooks per disc buying $$ too. I may opt to print one side only though, have to think about it. Thank you.
I keep forgetting how versatile the disc bound systems are. And yet I use my Faith Happy Planner everyday-duh on my part 😆! Thank you for sharing and reminding me, have fun 💗🤗!
It's so perfect & organized 😍💜💜, You should definitely start your own book brand ! 😃Can u do a video on UA-cam Planner with discbound and without it and layout design of it in depth 💜 would really appreciate it 😊
Have you seen the planner punchboard from we r memory keepers? It has different punches for different kinds of planners like dicbound ones!! You should really check them out!
I would like to see more ideas on your disc journaling. I bought a disc like yours but it's called ARC. You inspired me to try this kind out. Thank you for your videos. What is a Dashboard. What do I use it for?
Thanks for sharing a peek into your system. I think it's great for written notes... but would love to know how you store the "stuff" and wip projects that are more than just paper, know what I mean? I find my desk always overflowing with stuff! :)
Interesting. I have just found out about the system and I am curiouse about your thoughts if this would be a good system to make your own watercolour sketchbook? (Considering its 300 gsm heavy watercolour paper do you believe it would withstand the disc use overtime?)
Just curious if you have a place you purchase discs from? They are rather pricy, and I've just ordered some from a wholesale Etsy store, but if you do a lot of notebooks it becomes expensive. Any places you can share where you purchase your discs?
I have been making top bound books since, well forever. I am ambidextrous and 2 out of 3 of my kids are lefties. I'll have to see if either one of them wants a disc bound book.
I am interested in discbound but we have limited resources for the supplies. All i can find is seller from US. Is there any way we can DIY disc binding for personal user. Thanks a lot.
Hey I'm making a book to basically to hold some of my small Sketch books but I don't want to use any glue or Staples and I have the book and everything set up I just need to find a way to stich the books onto the main book got any tips?
I really need one of those to finally organize myself, but things just take ages to get to Brazil. Someone can tell me if they ship the puncher and discs to other countries?
Hi Jennifer ! I attempted to join through patreon. I paid the annual fee, but when i signed in and typed in sea lemon it looks like i have to pay an additional fee. Can you help me understand how the membership works? Thank you, Terrie
Hi! Message me on Patreon if you still have issues. All I can see on my end is you signed up for the year, so your membership should be active. Thanks for your support! 💛
Would self adhesive film work for wrapping chipboard for a hardcover? I do not need a spine, just two covers as it will be spiral bound. (Sorry doesn't relate to this particular video)
Hey I’m loving these videos! And I’m desperate to get one a punch but I can’t find any Uk companies that sell them I’ve looked on amazon and eBay but it’s over $100 with postage, does anyone know a way to get round this??? 😩
I love seeing how other UA-camrs stay organized! Your notebooks are so beautiful!
Karen Kavett DIY OMG I love you and SeaLemon. 😍😘
Karen Kavett DIY OMG your my favourite youtuber and sea lemon
It's so refreshing to see how someone organizes themselves!
I love that you put the binder rings up top vs. the side.

I’m inspired! I need to keep better notes for my videos. Using a journal for new projects and then moving finished projects to archives is brilliant!

Wish I had known about disc-binding when I was teaching for workshop handouts and notes. Thanks for the video!
Ahhh, I’m just getting into disc binding. I was gifted a planner, but not a cover. Now I can go crazy making it super custom!
Ps yeah doodle book and yeah merch!!
Great idea, I do something similar with my notes these days. Also love the colorful discs. Your system is already pretty! Thanks for sharing!

Vanessa Williams I use a disc bound system for my planner. I never had a problem when I dropped it, nothing fell out.
I actually love this so so much definitely want to diy one !! So inspired!! Wish I could use this for my high school work books !! Xx
Love this video:)
I'm really hoping for more organisation videos just like this one

Omw this is so helpful I'm planning on starting a diy channel so..... Yay
I'm in love with this idea! It's perfect for organizing my artistic projects. :)
😃Can u do a video on UA-cam Planner with discbound and without it and layout design of it in depth 💜 would really appreciate it 😊
I think you just changed my life
You are like the boss at the organizing game
Right on time......really needed... Thanks

I would like to see more ideas on your disc journaling. I bought a disc like yours but it's called ARC. You inspired me to try this kind out. Thank you for your videos. What is a Dashboard. What do I use it for?
I love you sea lemon☺
Your videos are so lovely!
Early... ♥ I bought a disk-bound file and it's really handy and helpful!
Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for sharing a peek into your system. I think it's great for written notes... but would love to know how you store the "stuff" and wip projects that are more than just paper, know what I mean? I find my desk always overflowing with stuff! :)
Have you thought of putting a little pocket on the front like for stickers or pencils

I love your videos
@Sea Lemon could you please do a tutorial on how to make the script sheet?
Awesome... did you stand and do the talk or there is a chair??
love you sealemon
I want to be your friend in real to receive such amazing and personalized gifts😍😭
You are AWESOME !
I love watching your videos I have used the disk binding and I don't really like it to good. Can you turn a disk bound into a spiral bound?
In the other video you used the ARC punch, here you use a levenger, wich one is better?
This is great 😍
Interesting. I have just found out about the system and I am curiouse about your thoughts if this would be a good system to make your own watercolour sketchbook? (Considering its 300 gsm heavy watercolour paper do you believe it would withstand the disc use overtime?)
I’ve actually tried it and the pages still hold up! Here’s the video I made about it: ua-cam.com/video/EnI4R6W6sag/v-deo.html
I love your vids their super helpful
Hey, I haven't seen you do an actual diy for a long time. Do u have an artist's block?
Just curious if you have a place you purchase discs from? They are rather pricy, and I've just ordered some from a wholesale Etsy store, but if you do a lot of notebooks it becomes expensive. Any places you can share where you purchase your discs?
Nice. Which brand you prefer Arc or Lavender for punching ?
Awesome!

Love it
Were do you get your colored lined paper?
is it ok to make a leather cover for disk binding !
I really need one of those to finally organize myself, but things just take ages to get to Brazil. Someone can tell me if they ship the puncher and discs to other countries?

notamirror the bigger they are the thicker your book can be.
There are smaller discs available but as previously said the notebook would then not hold as many papers.
