Please don't apologize for your "old school" tutorials, you're so incredible and have been so educational and so clear for so long that I feel like it's important for your new fans to realize why it is that so many of us love and adore you and follow you! Thank you for testing this tool. Because I learned from you, I think I'll continue to just do it your way! :D

I've wanted to get into bookbinding for a while, but I have rheumatoid arthritis, so I have to be careful with my hands. I know this isn't the oldschool, "proper" way of doing it, but you made it sound like it was pretty easy on your hands - not as much grip strength required as you're used to, and it still more or less got the job done. I've got hope I can still get into bookbinding with this family of products. I didn't know they existed and would have hesitated to try them myself, so thank you!!

Tip from other videos: Use a sharpie to mark your holes on the clear part. Some hand sanitizer and a q-tip will remove the marker when done.

Me too! I took bookbinding classes at my local library, and they rushed the stitching parts so much, I searched for videos. SeaLemon featured the clearest, most straightforward demonstrations of bindings I found! Plus she was so relaxing and soothing in her presentation:-) I recommended them to everybody in class!

I'm always sending people who want to try book binding to your channel, so that will make a nice thing to mention when explaining this tool (to make up for the possibly poor instruction guide)

I just bought this today. I do feel like the holes are a little on the small side that all that I usually use is a wider all. Also it’s really challenging to do a book cover it doesn’t fit in the in the guides either the DV shaped one or the flat side either it just it just doesn’t work so kind of disappointed with that. Note that I’m trying to do a book binding with a little golden book

I recently got this so I’d have an easy to use book cradle without having to make one, and used it for two different signatures of a junk journal I’m working on. The pouch with the needles and thread also holds a bone folder I bought for the project. And all of them fit nicely together with the board. They pack up in a fairly small space. Very easy and efficient to use. Just remember if you’re pulling a needle and thread through a LOT of pages, use pliers or your fingertips will be sooooore! 😂😭

I'd have bought this guide in a heartbeat...until you said it only creates books up to 9" tall. What is it with people and small books?! I just need an extra couple of inches for this to have been truly ideal. It really sucks that they didn't take into account the largest books at 11". That really would have been perfect but it's a total miss for me. It would have been truly helpful too as a beginner.

I have been on a journey with this tool. Purchasing We R Memory Keepers Bookbinding Guide, led me to your channel. Not because of this review (as you had not published it at that stage), but moreso to learn about bookbinding.
Sure, this tool helped me to punch holes...but I wanted to know more than their instruction booklet provided. So, I searched UA-cam and found you.
As a beginner, I had no idea about the tools I would need. I saw this Bookbinding Guide and took a gamble thinking, I don't know if this will be helpful. It looked like it would be helpful but I really had no idea about anything book-related. I just felt like I needed to buy it and so I did.
I used it twice then, put it in my drawer. It wasn't because the product was no good, it was more because I was inexperienced and, I didn't fully understand how to use the tool, or appreciate the assistance it gave. So, I went through a period of leaving it in my drawer and just eyeballing and poking holes. This of course was not very satisfactory but I was just learning and so, kind of put up with crooked lines and subsequent uneven stitching.
I've learn a lot in that time and when I was making my last journal, I decided to unearth and reuse the tool. And, it worked like an absolute charm. Strangely, though I have watched many of your videos, I had not seen this one until today.
There were times (when the tool was in my drawer) that I was wondering if I'd made the right decision in purchasing the tool. Recently reusing the tool confirmed that it was a very worthwhile purchase. Watching this video absolutely sealed the deal and, will help other newbies to understand and appreciate its value.

I make miniature books for dolls and just glue them together in a kind of case binding?? And I use bulldog clips for pressing the spine haha. I tried to make a proper book for sketching and its really thick, I used acrylic yarn for sewing and couldn't press then and I haven't wrapped the cover so it's just hard cardboard covering a text lock with like 6 layers of ribbon glues to the spine for support

I’ve got this tool. I bought it a long time ago and have not yet used it until tonight. I am new to book binding though so I don’t have anything to compare it to but for punching my signature hole i enjoyed using it.

I bet you could make clear templates for the stitches to layover the guide. Maybe out of something like plastic laminating sheets.

When using a Coptic stitch to a board I use the bridal method where you for stitching on just the board then attach the signatures to the “bridle “ this is a little more time consuming but makes it easier for me. It is a very old method.

Thank you for this. I purchased one of these about a year ago. But your video gave me good information.
