- This video was recorded at the Headcorn Battle of Britain Airshow.
The “Messerschmitt” shown in the video is a Spanish licence built post war version of the Messerschmitt known as a Buchon. It is painted in the scheme of 1 Group, Jagdgeschwader 27 (1.JG27) 'Afrika',
North African WW2 1941/2 desert markings this was due to it partaking in a BBC mini series, ‘SAS: Rogue Heroes’. This plane also had a role in the 1969 film ‘Battle of Britain’.
The Spitfire shown in the video is TD314, a HF Mk IXe. Built at Castle Bromwich in 1944 she was one of the last high back spitfires off of the production line. Having spent time at 33MU and 30MU she was prepared for service at 6MU before transferring to 183 (Gold Coast) Squadron at Chilbolton on the 24th June 1945. She joined 234 (Madras Presidency) Squadron on 26th July 1945 at Bentwaters and it is the squadrons colours that she currently flies in with the squadron codes FX-P. She is named Saint George which is displayed on her fuselage.

Great Vid, I seem to have the Late Great Robert Shaw going "Daka Daka Daka" in my head.
Its a shame you cant see the true power of those machines as they push the throttle through the gate into War Power but imagine much much faster & louder.
Mum used to stand on her roof in Fulham with her siblings during the Battle of Britain & watch the dog fights, start as dots in the sky at 20.000ft & within minutes roaring over the roof tops of London, if they were lucky, collect some Gun Brass.
It would’ve been a sight to behold.

If you had read the video description they clearly state it’s a Buchon but surely someone of your intelligence would’ve done that, wouldn’t you?
