They tended to groundloop if the pilot was not on top of the plane due to its narrow landing gear track. Many of the great aces liked the fact the 109 was a little hard to take off and land as the measure of a pilot even during wartime was the quality of the landing. Bringing a difficult bird like the 109 down and making a smooth as glass landing was the sign of a superior pilot.

It was necessary, since his comment was phrased as fact. And it is most certainly not fact, it is an opinion.

Needs a sound overlay of MG fire!
I'm a Junkers Jumo fan myself (FW190D9) But hard to beat that sound of the Daimler Benz!

When Stalin learned of this plane in the late 1930's he was enraged that the Russian planes were totally obsolete and his aircraft on the drawing board were not even close to the performance of the ME 109 that was in service!

thats BS. early Me109 were beaten by I-16 in Spain. only with E version this aircraft outperformed it.

It doesn't really matter what Variant or Type of Aircraft is present, whether it was a Yak-3, Yak-9, BF-109E, B-109G. They went up and fought. It wasn't the Aircraft alone that carried the day, but the man behind the controls.
Do you really think Eric Hartman would just take a personal day of Yak-9s were in the AO?
You don't win fights by being timid.
