- I head out into the woods with my dog for a couple of cold winter nights. I build a natural shelter using all dead materials to keep us from being exposed to the elements. We cook up some delicious food over a campfire and have a great time!

There's something very comforting about watching Monty get tucked into his sleeping bag. Hope you will re-use the lean-to shelter you made, it looks pretty sturdy.
I watch for two reasons. To see Monty get tucked into his sleeping bag and to see him wake up in his sleeping bag. The rest is pretty great too.

I have literally just described the cuteness of the same thing to my mam, trying to explain how good and well behaved Monty is compared to our little tinker of a fluffy bunny rough collie; Pepper.......who shows us his teeth when we dry his wet 🐾 after a walk in the rain before letting him in the house, n whinges n huffs n puffs to let us know how much he hates his paws being touched. Monty allows his human to put booties on each paw, so good n well behaved, not a whinge or grrrrrr in ear shot!!!

I have two blankets, two pillows, my cat, and my hair dryer on for extra warmth !! Plus my ac is around 65 degrees ! Perfect ! And I have a day off from work

Hey, I was raised with a Collie just like MONTE! I'm 68 and still remember crying in the bathtub with my 2 yr younger brother as our mother bathed us after telling us that our dear Collie, LADIE, died after chasing a car and got caught under the car and injured! I absolutely love your channel and your love of dogs!
In my 68 yrs I partnered with a Beagle, as a toddler, 2 Collies, a Pomeranian, an Australian Shepherd, 2 Pembroke Welsh Corgies, a Labrador Retiever, and 5 Miniature Dachshunds! I'll always have a special place in my heart for Collies, but I fell head over heels for Dachshunds!
My 1st Dachshund, ZIGGY, loved to swim more than my Lab!....LOL. He without a doubt was the most intelligent dog I've ever known, BAR NONE!
Currently, it's just me and Elwood, named after my Grandfather, Elwood Cookenbo, a 2nd generation German immigrant, my mother's father, my grandfather! Oddly enough my Dachshund, Elwood, actually has much the gentle nature of Grandnanny, my grandfather, my mother's father, because I couldn't pronounce GRANDDADDY!...LOL

Wow, looked like a freeze-frame of Monty at 15:43 near the fire. Monty certainly is a majestic canine, with his graceful movements.
My anxiety has been off the charts this week, and having these vids to wind down watching at night has helped immensely.
I feel the same way. In the middle of the night when I need to slow down my brain. I go to Matthew to watch one of his videos. I can count how many times I've watched videos over and over, just to breathe a little. There's just something about the way he does things.

Because of how fun and relaxed these videos are I sometimes overlook how much skill and experience you are exercising in what is a really harsh environment. You make it look so easy. A real pro. And then to add the quality filming and editing on top of that is amazing. So thanks! This escape is very much needed at the moment
Generally it’s a better practice to take long logs you can haul back to camp and cut them to measure there. You get the fire wood from your cast offs, the sawdust is a nice starter, and you can lay them all side by side for even construction.

U know what I noticed after watching a few of ur videos.... When Monty stands still, he REALLY stands till. Nothing on him moves not even his tail. He might twitch an ear but that's very rare. Not many dogs are capable of doing that. He's definitely a special doggie.

These videos are so therapeutic. They help with me going to sleep. There is something very peaceful about looking at snow. And wind blowing and freezing rain.
I was a little nervous that the logs were going to fall on Monty sitting under while you were building, but you pulled it off perfectly as usual.

I usually don’t watch bushcraft/camping videos, but my husband had this video on the TV, and I was impressed. Not because of the instructional nature, but because of the way you talk to and love your dog, Monty. I’m a cat person, but I fell in love with Monty. I talk to my cats, kiss them between the ears, cuddle them and have concern about their comfort. You show the same concerns about your dog and I immediately had immense respect for you. Keep up the good work. Kiss Monty between the ears for me.

I do not like cilantro. It is definitely a take it or leave it garnish. And yeah the rice falling over I was like "oh no!"
Caught myself blowing on the screen to help get the fire going. LOL. 1 or 2 tablespoons of oil mixed in the dough makes it easier to handle and adds flavor. Also a tablespoon of sugar added to the dough will help the yeast rise. Water should be 120 to 130 to activate yeast. Looks delicious.

All I can say is: More Snow winter shelter camping and amazing cooking. I love every bit of it. Monty is a beautiful dog and the best companion. I’m in Singapore where it’s 100 deg every day, I miss the snow :) don’t stop!! Love the cooking and we are now cooking your dishes at home :)

The Upper Peninsula's winter weather decided to park itself over my home state of Oklahoma for the past couple of weeks. The lows with wind chill got down to -27 degrees and -16 degrees on consecutive nights, there's about a foot of snow on the ground, it hasn't been above freeezing for almost two weeks now, and there are multiple lakes, rivers and creeks that are completely frozen over IN OKLAHOMA. So what did I do? Well, boy howdy, I put on my layers, strapped on the microspikes, set up the hot tent and did my best Matthew Posa impression in my backyard complete with farts and all.
This is my favorite food coma camping channel. 👍
