My easy Sausage Rolls ✌️ 💥!

  • For the Pastry Dough:
    2 cups all-purpose flour
    1 cup cold butter
    6-8 tbsp ice water
    1/2 tsp salt
    2 tbsp sugar
    For the filling:
    1/2 cup bread crumbs
    1 tsp salt
    1 tsp thyme
    1 tsp parsley
    1 tsp paprika
    1/4 tsp cayenne
    1/4 tsp nutmeg
    1/2 tsp garlic powder
    1/2 cup minced onion
    Eggwash:
    1 egg + 2Tbsp water (whisk together)

    Hiiii!!! I just tried this recipe! I only used the recipe for the pastry because I used ready made hot dogs as filling and sardine filling as well. It turned out sooo good, my mom loves it. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe with the world. I put it in my recipe book and I will always use it if ever I wanna make any type of rolls! Much love from Malaysia ♥️❤️

    I like the idea of sugar in ur pastry . Lovely combination of pork meat and spices .

      I haven’t tried it with bread flour and I don’t think I’ll like to take that risk because my guess is that the resulting pie will be heavy and not flaky.

      That’s usually 2:1 ratio eg. 1000g flour and 500g butter/margarine, 200ml water, 2tsp sugar, 2tsp baking powder, 1tsp salt , nutmeg etc

      Wheat should be a good idea but you might need to add an egg and reduce the water to get a good binding.

      I always like to do that last. It’s also less messy. Just a personal preference. There’s no hard and fast rule about that.

      Yes you can, however you will need to add some bread crumbs and eggs to soften the meat.

    Hey, Lola. I just tried making sausage rolls using the recipe on your blog. I think it is an old recipe from 4 years or so because there are lots of unanswered questions and missing steps. It didnt work out for me. Perhaps you should take a look at it and update the recipe. I will try this new recipe and let you know how it goes. Fyi ! I mean this all in the kindest way possible. I have tried a lot of your recipes, this is the first time it is not working for me. Blessings.

    Please why do you add sugar in a sausage dough? I thought since it's a sausage just like a fish pie or meat pie, there is no need for sugar. Also it's not buns or puff puff or chin chin. Wouldn't the obvious taste of sugar make it less of a sausage roll
    ? Also why did you you add bread crumbs to the meat filling? Can one use ground meat instead of sausage, what's the difference?...
