As a Black Panther fan, I feel we're gonna get a T'Challa that won't be downgraded to fit some misandric view of characters that exists in comics now. That's how he's been portrayed in the 616 since Coates's run.

I loved it just as much as Ultimate Spider-man. Let's not forget this is not the same ultimate universe (1610), this is a new ultimate universe (6160) aka Ultimate universe II.

I'm absolutely loving Hickman's Ultimate Universe so far, both ongoings started off to my expectations and I'm looking forward to what comes next.
I just hope Hickman doesn’t get ruined by editorials and talentless co-writers like X-Men.

I say besides the threat and TChaka dying. You could really port this into 616 and be writing TChalla and Wakanda like this. It’s good and less a departure compared to 616 Spidey.

I know I want them to over-take the main 616 variants so hopefully there’s a slight chance that the writers change when they are writing with 616 because it’s a mess currently in that universe and it’s sad to see my favorite comic character (spider man and Tchalla) getting disrespected especially in the main universe

I thought this was a great start, and the title has a ton of potential. I really enjoy the world-building of this new Ultimate Universe with each continent being controlled by a villainous entity. This issue managed to get me interested in seeing Wakanda going against Ra and Khonshu, as well as Killmonger and Storm doing their own strikes against Moon Knight.
I still think Ultimate Spider-Man is better, but I may be biased since Spider-Man is my favourite character and having him being a dad with kids is an easy sell for me.

Also i guarantee a major bait and switch incoming with Ultimate Spiderman. There is no way that Marvel will allow a DEI/ESG free storyline in 2024, just no way.

So I missed out on reading this one as New England Comics was sold out. However from what I am hearing here this is a really good first issue. All the characters seem to feel right. The artwork is solid and well paced. You've got some lovely differences from the main line Marvel Universe with Wakanda and the Black Panther too. Yet it seems like pulling teeth here to get our hosts to give it a positive recommendation. Not sure why. I get the impression you would want to get this before it sells out in your area of the world. Everyone seems to be looking forward to the next issue, so that is half the battle. FOUR OUT OF FIVE? That's nearly a A to A+ for the issue. That is something you definitely go out and buy. WTF20.

The Ultimate Invasion miniseries and the subsequent Ultimate Universe one-shot were really exciting and promising, but everything that's come out since then has failed to impress me. This issue is not the exception.
It seems like the best artwork Marvel has to offer right now is in the Ultimate Universe, but I can't say the same for the stories.
I don't get the point of this particular book.
Supposedly, in this universe the Maker build, he deprived the Marvel heroes from the circumstances that created them, their origins, so that they would no longer represent a threat to his designs, Tony Stark found out about it and now he is doing the impossible to fix what the Maker did and retrieve the original destiny of this universe.
That's the whole concept behind this new line of comics, but here it seems like the Maker did nothing to prevent T'Challa from becoming the Black Panther and protector of Wakanda.
    It doesn't make sense.
In Earth-616, T'Challa is the leader of a world power with advanced technology, an Avenger and a member of the Illuminati, the Maker should have considered him one of the major potential threats to his reality, but the T'Challa of Earth-6160 is not only alive, he is not imprisoned, he is already king of Wakanda and the Black Panther, and Wakanda is still a secret nation.
Why did the Maker allow this?
It doesn't look like Tony Stark already helped T'Challa.
The Maker is on the cover of the next issue so maybe there will be an explanation for the plot hole but I don't know, and that leads me to my other problem with this comic:
I don't want to wait until the sixth issue to see if I like the story, the first issue, the first chapter, should be the one that sells me the series, instead this made me go like "Well, maybe this will lead to something interesting", I hate that feeling. These books are not cheap.

One of the things I loved about T'Challa was his intellect, where he was one of the top 10 intellects of the Marvel Universe, then the movie happened. Loved the 1st movie, but that was my biggest issue from the movie, then surprise surprise, it transferred over to the comics. Where all of a sudden Shuri is a genius and T'Challa isn't.

Wasn't Ultimate Captain America never frozen in a state of true suspended animation and he continued to be Captain America ever since the 1940s? If he was Captain America for well over 80 years, then I think that him being a much more bitter, cynical, and hardened version of Steve Rogers makes a lot more sense. The reason why Steve Rogers from Earth-616 is still so optimistic and not as pessimistic as Nick Fury is is because he was frozen ever since the year 1945 and didn't see the decline of Western civilization, and the corruption of American society over the decades after the mid-1940s. Ultimate Captain America having a personality that is not being jaded, sullen and withdrawn because he has seen too much over the years, despite being the capable, confident and cool leader of the Ultimates super hero team would just seem to be way too unrealistic. @@EvandroACruz

The Good Timeline: No the Marvel Ultimate Universe 2: *OH GOD! PLEASE COME BACK! WE'RE SORRY!!!* is...actually sincere and STAYS That way. For the REST of the Decade before Namor, The Android Human Torch and Captain America become Public Domain and join Steamboat Willie on his Steamboat Ride with all of the Horrors, Thrills, Spills, Chills, and laughter that comes with it!
The BAD Timeline: This is the only book allowed to stave off the 'Social Justice Infection' (albeit for the longest period of time because of its Black Main Character Superhero) as it SLOWLY Consumes the Rest of the Line when the word gets out that 'It's ACTUALLY GOOD' and making money. Before the Rainbow Haired Freaks get to it too and want an 'Ultimate Shuuri' to become the Black Panther in THIS Universe Too! And Steamboat Willie will STILL Come in a Decade to Take Namor, The Android Human Torch, and Steve Rodgers away from this long Nightmare in the Nuthouse of Ideas. And the wait will just be more Painful to suffer before the Sundowning.
This is your Company staring down inevitability. Note the Impossible to Change Event No Matter what they do.

Mediocre. I’m hopeful. My favorite runs are Don Mcgregor and Christopher Priest. This has me worried already because all of these Marvel books seem immune to the action and fantasy side of comics. Let’s not forget that Stan Lee and Jack KIRBY created Wakanda and there’s so many facets for them to explore. Unfortunately these writers always try to force this Game of Thrones atmosphere which is easy to do and even necessary but it shouldn’t be at the cost of pure comic book fun and superhero spectacle.

Why was T'Challa already king of Wakanda if his father was still alive? What kind of monarchy is that?
Also, what was the writer trying to tell me with the dialogue between T'Challa and Okoye at the beginning?
He, the King, doesn't want his wife, the Queen, to call him "My King" because they "are equals"... What?!
What does one thing have to do with the other?
If I was a King I would like it if my wife called me "My King" and I would call her "My Queen".
    I don't get it.
Okoye looked very sad when she was talking about how the people traditionally would see her as less important than the King (a weird topic to discuss in the morning, if you ask me)... was she complaining about... THE PATRIARCHY???
    "Traditions must change"
Whoa! That came out of nowhere.
I don't like the agenda I'm seeing there.
Anyway, if T'Challa and Okoye are married, why do they sleep in separate beds?
I also don't like Okoye's haircut, that's not the look of a Queen, if she had her head completely shaved that would be better and more ceremonial than that haircut.

It is possible for a King to abdicate early before his 'time'. That's because he feels no longer able to fulfill his duty due to old age or severe illness.

if your gonna portray a kingdom like wakanda then lean the hell into it and fully illustrate the differences between it and place like the US, and stop trying to turn it INTO it.
how the war is handled is gonna be the tipping point for me but right now theres some GREAT potential here.
