I like your video. Especially the auto ID. There is one more thing that must be done to meet the rules. You must be able to shut it down remotely

Thank you so much! There's a similar video on doing this only via remote control, and I wanted to know how to simply do it via the rig itself. Cheers!

This is a likely scenario for me; I live in Nevada; like going hiking on remote stretches of mountain ranges; I do not have this radio, but I have the Kenwood TH-D74. The idea is from the point I park my van and go hiking could be 5 10 miles out as an example, I would be deep in a canyon or a range, maybe the TH D74 may not reach anything if I need to use it for an emergency, which is the idea of taking it, in this case, If i had the TM-D710 in the van and left it on while i am away from the parking area, would i be able to QSO using crossbanding? What are my chances to be heard if I call in an emergency? --- I got these questions because I am trying to see which way it is more effective for me; I do have The Garmin InReach Explorer which does all that and more but the subscription it is horribly expensive; tricky to turn "off and on" made by garmin to have you leave the subscription on, in my case I have been paying 35 per month for the last year and half not even using the device; I keep thinking the expense of the radios one time in the long run may save me some cash but as long as it works for what I am looking for. Thanks for the inputs and reply. KI7CSI

How does the time-out feature affect cross banding?

Video 101, never block the camera. Reach around the camera and adjust the buttons on the radio.

Actually, should not the 710 xcvr be setup w/ PTT Ctrl on the UHF side (right) and Not the VHF side (left) as you show if your repeater is "controlled" on the HT w/ the UHF channel? You are actually trying to communicate with the outside world on VHF and only using UHF as the control.
