Thank you very much Christopher for taking the time for this very useful video, to help me tο setup my kenwood D710E as crossband repeater ...Greetings from Greece ...73 de SV2ROC
Honestly it's probably not a good idea, but if you really needed to link the repeaters and had permission from the owners, you could do it to link different groups with single band radios, or extend the coverage of the two repeaters.
Hi Chris, great video. Couple of quick questions: 1) how often does the radio identify itself when in cross band mode, and 2) does it identify on both frequencies or just UHF? 73, Bob KO4CLV
Bob, the timer is for every 10 minutes which aligns with FCC requirements. As for which band it transmits your ID on, I'm not 100% sure but it's probably only whichever side has PTT/CTRL.
Which variant of the radio do you have? What letters come after 710 in the model number? I was demonstrating on a GA version, G for GPS and A for Americas market. The features and menu locations may be different for a different version. Let me know and I'll try to help!
@@alialbeloshi5425 It looks like the cross-band repeater is not available by default on the GE model. Modding the is an option, but that's beyond my knowledge and skills. Sorry
I thought this was very well presented and demonstrated. Thanks

Awesome demo! Best one I have seen.
i liked the video... what is the use case for cross banding between repeaters?

Is this functionality offered on the "710GA" variantm
Yes, I'm demonstrating this on a 710GA. The older 710 has the same functionality but slightly different menus.

(Edit: this is wrong) I verified tonight, it will ID only on the band that has PTT.
@@ChrisKeller Hey thanks! Though when I did my test, my radio ID'd on one frequency and then five minutes later ID'd on the other, etc.
@@bob76451 You're totally right, I needed to wait a bit longer. :)
