I played Fallout 3, 4, and New Vegas. My pops is 64 and is in the "video games are a stupid waste of time all they do is beep at you" crowd. When I saw the trailer for the show I showed it to him, he said it was just a "video game show". Tonight we met up for some father son time and he noticed that Fallout was live. Surprisingly, he asked if I wanted to start it with him, and of course I did. After Ep1 he looked at me and said, "Well this seems like a pretty fun show! Wanna keep going?", and of course I did. By the end of Ep2 he is drilling me with questions about everything Fallout lol! He started looking up UA-cam clips of the games as I was leaving to head back home. Perhaps it's also commentary on the tragedy on losing innocence and how losing innocence is a sign of peace and happiness that people try so hard to protect. Like preserving children's innocence is so precious or a friend who is optimistic and trying to be make others happiness with their actions and when they lose it, it cuts you deep when they seem them turn into something a person thought was annoying.
I think they did it right. It's not a live adaptation of any game it's just an adaptation of the world of fallout so they can tell their own story within the world of fallout and as long as they get the lore right then they are golden .
Been a Fallout fan for a while and I love the reactions of people who have never played the games and have no idea how deep the lore to this shit goes. Really glad to hear that the world building is great in the show and will hopefully expand even more into the lore
They nailed this show!! From the environment to the characters to the music ripped straight from the game. The only thing i have a gripe with is the ghouls. The feral ghouls look too much like zombies and They treat Goggins character like he bulletproof.
I just head cannoned that Walton Goggins has been ghouling around for so long that he’s over levelled and has a million weird perks that keep him alive.
I think the strongest element of the show is the actors. Walton Goggins is amazing. I love every scene he's in and I just want to see more of his character. I do think fans of the original games and New Vegas might have some problems with the show. They kind of retconned the NCR. The NCR was established as a major power in the wasteland. They restored civilization to a lot of California. They've built agriculture, schools, roads, hospitals, annexed cities, etc. And the show pretty much retconned them to be much smaller. They also did something with the very first town in the entire Fallout franchise that fans of FO1 and 2 might not like.
This brings up the major problem I have with original programming on streaming. In network TV/basic cable/expanded cable/premium cable, when a series is successful, a second season is immediately green lit for production and will be out within a year. The Last Of Us just wrapped shooting season two. But, when it comes to streaming, you have to wait 2-4 years for a sophomore season. What the hell is that about? In that significant span of time, with all the new content being pumped out daily, a hit series can get lost in the shuffle due to prolonged absence. The streaming networks need to tighten their $hit up. What’s the point of watching a show if you have to wait so long for its return you sort of forget about it/give it a lower priority in the face of more current, popular shows?
Max my favorite character I always love the brotherhood faction: Max embodies black people, we have been punked and made subordinate, we have been weak for hundreds of years. But like Max we have the power! Max realizes he wants a calm life with amenities but he must fight and take up his destiny as a leader like our ppl must. Second half def stronger cause their character evolved
Just finished this series yesterday so now, I can watch the review. This series was everything I wish Disney Star Wars would have been. It was amazing!
Binge watched this all in a day. Good shit. Lucy and Maximus archs were pretty cool. It took me a while to connect with Coop's antihero moves but it all came together nicely in the end. I wonder will Lucy ever find out the truth about Vault 33. Looking forward to season 2.
They captured the tone and the world of the games incredibly. I was worried about them mishandling the lore, and so far, it seems like they’re treating the existing lore with an appropriate reverence.
Hey, my advise is, if you want to try out a good story - go with Fallout New Vegas. I know it had bugs when it came out, BUT, it's fixed now so it's much enjoyable.
I only watched the first episode but it was pretty solid , interesting mystery, and good perspectives to pull from, and they're nailing the whole Atomic Cafe juxtaposition retrofuturism aesthetic This could've easily been a Fallout 5 or spinoff game or something It's a lot of fan service none of it feels cloying, it's mostly organic in the context of the narrative, like there is a quick use of the Junk Jet for example Nolan is perfect for the material given his track record especially in the context of Fallout 4's narrative I was hoping they do a shout out to some popular glitch of bug like maybe due to a drug hallucination or something
15:23 pretty sure Martin is refering to the film "A Boy and his Dog" which was one of the influences on the original Fallout. It's a post-apocalyptic world with underground vaults where the 50's Norman Rockwellian way of life is maintained.
Both Lucy and Maximus took the Idiot Savant Perk(Fallout 4). Maximus cheesed it going with an endurance and luck build. The Idiot Savant Perk benefits you more the less intelligence you have, essentially causing you to fall up in life. You fail successfully and level up fast.
Good show, I agree with Korey and Martin, Full price for me. I hate how shows nowadays only have 8 episodes and then you have to wait 4-5 years for the next season. We're not getting any younger 😔
The fact that EVERY negative review is either “so disappointing. Didn’t even watch it” or “if you enjoy the bad games in the series you will love it” and the ABSOLUTE WORST review I’ve seen is “dialogue was just okay” shows how well done this is. This show did exactly what it was supposed to do this show is great
I'm loving this so far! If you don't like the writing for whatever reason, you have to admit, they absolutely nailed the look and feel of the games! As someone who put countless hours into fallout 4, I think they did a phenomenal job with that!
The giant bugs are inspired by damnation alley. Its funny because it's the post apocalyptic movie set in the us that has the huge radiated beasts but the austrailain post apocalypse in mad max doesnt.
I liked Maximus because you could never tell if he was a sociopathic villain or a stunted hero that wants to do the right thing, but doesn't even seem to know what the right thing is. The answer is all of the above.
Ever wondered why the Vault Boy (the thumbs up guy) is giving a thumbs up? Hint, he's not. Back in the days during the cold war, school kids would be shown lots of PSAs on surviving a nuclear attack (Duck and Take Cover!!!) But what if you see a mushroom cloud off in the distance? Are you safe? Or should you run? Well, put your arm out with a thumbs up and close one eye. If the mushroom cloud is bigger than your thumb, you're still in the danger (radiation) zone. Otherwise, you're A-OK champ! ;)
Amazon Prime is hitting it out of the park with these adaptations. Going the series route has done wonders for streaming platforms and AP is at the top for me.
37:48 Mark! 1.5K Thumbs Up + Mine! 👍 You're welcome, and thanks! 😊 Notes: I can't afford "Amazon Prime"! But some series you named I've seen on "Tubi" or "Netflix"! How does that happen? I played "Fallout 4" and "Fallout: New Vegas" and with the former, I had the version where if your PC completed the main quest regardless of how many side quests were ongoing, your PC died! 😮
Had a question I needed answered for anyone whose seen episode 8. Minor spoiler alert - - - - How did Maximus find Lucy? Was it supposed to be the tracker? I dont remember them talking about Muldaver's location

Been on the look-out for a new sci-fi tv series since the Expanse ended, this series is not too bad tho. Nice to watch something new and different too.
I think you got it backwards. Hardcore fans are crying but people who only have heard of fallout love the show. I'm a fallout fan and have played all the games even fallout 76, but I guess I'm in the minority I absolutely love the show
I didnt sleep, already finished episode 8, and the show its almost perfect 8 episodes was sort of enough but I need more exploring as in the games learning about all the other things that happened. i give it 9/10 something felt a bit off but I truly enjoyed it.
The great thing with this story background, is that main character is new to the world so information dumps are expected, but they pull from the source material and make it seemless
Roll on the next series (I'm English, I don't call series seasons) Thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm a bit fan of F3 and New Vegas ...Only got a 360 so that's the limit of what I can play. Really good work.
fallout 3 and new vegas were great but fallout 4 was basically the same game as the last 2 with smoother graphics, which i was sick of by then. First 2 were fun but very different feel

Got to admit they nailed the brotherhood to a tea. Love the comment how while they are tchnically the good guysL in reality its a complicated organiztion from onje of the squires lol

I really liked the Ghoul's character development, particularly in the end how he and Lucy become allies. Didn't really liked the knight. The character and the actor, he seemed annoying to me.
I couldn’t believe how good this adaptation was. Even the three main characters are kinda different “archetypes” of the in-game morality and reputation system.
I liked how the show highlighted the Red Scare aspect of flashback bits, that and showing how powerful corporations (funny that this show is produced in part by Amazon) can really go off the rails.
I realllllly hope the direction of these seasons goes eastward, I would absolutely love it if they had a season in the Capital Wasteland :D It’s actually kinda prophetic, starting off where F1 began. But why wasn’t Maxson mentioned anywhere? I was actually suprised because the Brotherhood is so dedicated to the name. Anyway, f*ng loved the show, absolutely loved it.
This is both a very very good adaptation from videogame to screen television AND the most disrespectful piece of media to older fans. Genuinely a solid 7/10 for FO1, FO2, and FNV fans and a 10/10 for everyone else
@@TheForbidden_1ne basically the NCR began in FO1 from Vault 15 and grew into a fledgling nation by FO2. FNV we begin to see them commit similar mistakes of the old world (the one that gets bombed out). Vault 15's whole premise is what happens when you throw in groups of different social classes, and two groups that emerged became raiders. The third was, you guessed it, the new civilization taht would become NCR. The show reducing them to raiders without allowing them to fight back in any meaningful way just trivializes their struggles and our efforts to help them. Especially since they were posed to be the superpower of the wastes and understandably bring the end to the harsher elements of Fallout

@@eduardomendes5220 LMAO. Amazon is doing very well but you're might wanna hold off on "they're winning the streaming wars". That's Netflix and will remain Netflix.
@@hoopandhands3328 I don’t know, nothing good on Netflix. If I had to cancel one of my subscriptions it would definitely be Netflix
As an amazon driver it annoys me because I know these mfs got enough to pay me a livable wage, but don't.
It's Perfect I'm already looking forward to Season 2
Never played the game and I thought the 1st 3 episodes of the show were amazing
As a gamer who loves the games, im glad it gives me what i want, and people like you can also enjoy it. Honestly how all adaptations should be
I'm on episode 2 and this show is nothing but great. Walter goggins is a show stealer every time he's on scene
Agreed. I've never played the games but I really enjoyed it.
Goggins is already my favorite character. He's killing his role
What happened to his face? 🙂
He’ll always be Shane for me
@@jameslyddall Boyd crowder for me lol
I think they did it right. It's not a live adaptation of any game it's just an adaptation of the world of fallout so they can tell their own story within the world of fallout and as long as they get the lore right then they are golden .
Been a Fallout fan for a while and I love the reactions of people who have never played the games and have no idea how deep the lore to this shit goes. Really glad to hear that the world building is great in the show and will hopefully expand even more into the lore
Yup and Todd decided to kill half of it
@@JohnDoe-sl6di Todd "Sweet little lies" Howard
I've tried playing the games and never could really get into them but the show is fantastic
@TheForbiddenOne55 I think it's top 3 in the video game World and lore.
even as a massive fallout fan i wasn't holding out much hope for this tv series. i was shocked at how good it was. it had no right being this good.
They nailed this show!! From the environment to the characters to the music ripped straight from the game. The only thing i have a gripe with is the ghouls. The feral ghouls look too much like zombies and They treat Goggins character like he bulletproof.
True an I wish there was a super mutant or a rad scorpion
I just head cannoned that Walton Goggins has been ghouling around for so long that he’s over levelled and has a million weird perks that keep him alive.
@@Ketchup_and_Mustard373 That can always come later especially now with where they are going
What did they do with the first town that fans of Fallout 1 and 2 won't like?
The show is 🔥 I hope it gets renewed.
It already got renewed for S2 a few days ago
@@penyuwan thanks for the info👌🏽
And Cali is offering 25M to film there.
They renewed it before it even dropped lol
Check out book of Eli which is a Denzel Washington movie of a nuclear wasteland if you’ve not seen it. It’s almost fallout without being fallout.
Just finished episode 4. So far its Amazing 🔥🔥🔥🔥
This man Korey can never get the homie Walton Goggin's name right
A BOY AND HIS DOG WITH DON JOHNSON 1974 ( UNDERGROUND BUNKER WORLD)
Yeah that's a good one, but the book it was adapted from and comic were awesome too, i think the Glowing Ones are a reference to that story as well.
And hence Coop's movie : "A Man and his Dog" .
The goul cowboy is a companion character
Yes, but no. That's not Raul.
We all have to remember.....Martin liked the Resident Evil Netflix show.
the Fallout show is great. watch it and review it for yourself. I do that before watching these clips and getting spoilers.
Big Fallout fan, the show slaps.
@@Jauren0524 some people just hate everything. and will use any excuse not to like it.
it has a female lead therefore bad. - sheep
That show is great
Fallout is legit though. Even if you're still skeptical just give the first episode a chance.
Just finished this series yesterday so now, I can watch the review.
This series was everything I wish Disney Star Wars would have been. It was amazing!
I am still playing Fallout 3 on my PS4.
How do you do that?
Binge watched this all in a day. Good shit. Lucy and Maximus archs were pretty cool. It took me a while to connect with Coop's antihero moves but it all came together nicely in the end. I wonder will Lucy ever find out the truth about Vault 33. Looking forward to season 2.
They captured the tone and the world of the games incredibly. I was worried about them mishandling the lore, and so far, it seems like they’re treating the existing lore with an appropriate reverence.
There is a debate as to whether they have retconned New Vegas
Hey, my advise is, if you want to try out a good story - go with Fallout New Vegas. I know it had bugs when it came out, BUT, it's fixed now so it's much enjoyable.
Sooo glad this already got renewed for a 2nd season!! Fantastic show! 🙌🏼 ☢️
I only watched the first episode but it was pretty solid , interesting mystery, and good perspectives to pull from, and they're nailing the whole Atomic Cafe juxtaposition retrofuturism aesthetic This could've easily been a Fallout 5 or spinoff game or something
It's a lot of fan service none of it feels cloying, it's mostly organic in the context of the narrative, like there is a quick use of the Junk Jet for example
Nolan is perfect for the material given his track record especially in the context of Fallout 4's narrative
I was hoping they do a shout out to some popular glitch of bug like maybe due to a drug hallucination or something
Cant wait to watch this!! Over 290 hours put into Fallout 3, LOVE that game!! and FO4 as well! VATS is amazing!! thank you for the review!
15:23 pretty sure Martin is refering to the film "A Boy and his Dog" which was one of the influences on the original Fallout.
It's a post-apocalyptic world with underground vaults where the 50's Norman Rockwellian way of life is maintained.
And hence Coop's movie : "A Man and his Dog" . that huge poster on the stairway in their house.
Just watched all 8 back to back and Loved it ❤ played all the games (except 76) and put over 4,000 hours into Fallout 4 and this did not disappoint
I'm surprised no one in the comments has corrected Corey on New Vegas being made by Obsidian, not Bethesda. I'm glad though. NV fans are psychotic.
Fallout 3 is one of my favorite games of all time. I'm glad to see this show is getting good reviews.
Fallout 3 was so good
Fallout 3 is the only good fallout
And I will die on this hill!
Fallout 3 and 4 were with 76 as worst Fallout games. They were made for zoomers who never played Fallout 1 and 2

Good show, I agree with Korey and Martin, Full price for me. I hate how shows nowadays only have 8 episodes and then you have to wait 4-5 years for the next season. We're not getting any younger 😔
Ngl I think it’s been a minute since I’ve seen Martin love a show this much that’s video game related especially😅
Not sure if I’m remembering correctly, but I think he was a big fan of the Twisted Metal TV show!
@@TheIrishdrivebyand the resident evil tv show I believe lmao
The fact that EVERY negative review is either “so disappointing. Didn’t even watch it” or “if you enjoy the bad games in the series you will love it” and the ABSOLUTE WORST review I’ve seen is “dialogue was just okay” shows how well done this is.
This show did exactly what it was supposed to do this show is great
21:52 Mark! Korey, you still have your Chihuahua! 🎉 ❤🐶
Maximus is fin but done much better. Its crazy how much of their plots line up. Hopefully they dont fk him in s2.
I predict that Maximus goes down an Elder Maxson path. He finally sees the “true path” and turns into a monster.
He favors Jonathan Majors.
The majority of the vaults had some experiment they were doing and nobody knew except for the overseer
I only played Fallout Shelter. I have no clue about the story but I really like the idea of the bunker civilization.
I liked Maximus because you could never tell if he was a sociopathic villain or a stunted hero that wants to do the right thing, but doesn't even seem to know what the right thing is. The answer is all of the above.
This is how star wars should of handled Finn.
I hated Max but Finn was very likable just bad writing imo
Yeah Finn was a solid character, max is boring
Ever wondered why the Vault Boy (the thumbs up guy) is giving a thumbs up? Hint, he's not.
Back in the days during the cold war, school kids would be shown lots of PSAs on surviving a nuclear attack (Duck and Take Cover!!!)
But what if you see a mushroom cloud off in the distance? Are you safe? Or should you run? Well, put your arm out with a thumbs up and close one eye.
If the mushroom cloud is bigger than your thumb, you're still in the danger (radiation) zone. Otherwise, you're A-OK champ! ;)
Amazon Prime is hitting it out of the park with these adaptations. Going the series route has done wonders for streaming platforms and AP is at the top for me.
I was crying laughing with the Yao scene
37:48 Mark! 1.5K Thumbs Up + Mine! 👍 You're welcome, and thanks! 😊
Notes: I can't afford "Amazon Prime"! But some series you named I've seen on "Tubi" or "Netflix"! How does that happen?
I played "Fallout 4" and "Fallout: New Vegas" and with the former, I had the version where if your PC completed the main quest regardless of how many side quests were ongoing, your PC died! 😮
Some shows are offered on Freevee but I think they are killing that service soon.
@macmcleod1188 ! Oh yeah! But on my new smartphone, it wasn't one of the pre-installed services, so maybe it ended? 🤔
This show is incredible so far!

How did Maximus find Lucy? Was it supposed to be the tracker? I dont remember them talking about Muldaver's location
I've never played the game before,so,my expectations are very low. I've watched 3 episodes of this show on amazon-prime so far,it's not to bad tho,has pretty good production values. Been on the look-out for a new sci-fi tv series since the Expanse ended, this series is not too bad tho. Nice to watch something new and different too.
I think you got it backwards. Hardcore fans are crying but people who only have heard of fallout love the show. I'm a fallout fan and have played all the games even fallout 76, but I guess I'm in the minority I absolutely love the show
If Lucy turns into Jinx after learning the Truth, that would be crazy.
I didnt sleep, already finished episode 8, and the show its almost perfect 8 episodes was sort of enough but I need more exploring as in the games learning about all the other things that happened. i give it 9/10 something felt a bit off but I truly enjoyed it.
I never stream a show in one day. I couldn't stop watching.
At least with waiting two years for the second season, the new fans from the show will have plenty of time to get into the games.
15:31 silo! Also on Amazon prime. I liked fallout but silo is superior
The great thing with this story background, is that main character is new to the world so information dumps are expected, but they pull from the source material and make it seemless
The rad scorpions are no joke can’t wait for deathclaws next season
And hopefully super mutants
Did anybody else think the movie Love and Monsters was pretty much Fallout?
Roll on the next series (I'm English, I don't call series seasons)
Thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm a bit fan of F3 and New Vegas ...Only got a 360 so that's the limit of what I can play.

fallout 3 and new vegas were great but fallout 4 was basically the same game as the last 2 with smoother graphics, which i was sick of by then. First 2 were fun but very different feel

I watched the first episode with my girlfriend last night and I was constantly pausing it to answer her questions. I could see how this show could be very, very confusing for someone who hasn't played any of the games.
just finished season 1 it was awesome.. cant wait for season 2 in vegas
Cant wait for Hollywood to ignore every lesson this show taught us
Fallout was not created by Bethesda, it was BOUGHT by Bethesda. Interplay team and Black Isle (part of modern day Obsidian) were the real OGs.
Nobody told me Cuba gooding Jr was going to be in this show lol
Got to admit they nailed the brotherhood to a tea. Love the comment how while they are tchnically the good guysL in reality its a complicated organiztion from onje of the squires lol
Also love how the MC resembles each games MC with how they all start of naive and alittle idiotic but by the end of the game your either heroic paladin or a pyhcotic killer. and you see the progression in the show how it happens.
talking to others at work (who were also up to episode 3-5) all of us who jumped in at fallout 4 will love it. fo4 is 1 of my fav games of all time and they targeted that audience perfectly. i still am only up to ep 4 tho, hope they dont fumble the ending , it actually makes me miss playing fo4 in virtual reality, it was like living in that world without that actual risk of it
I really liked the Ghoul's character development, particularly in the end how he and Lucy become allies.
Martin might be talking about “ love & monsters” really underrated movie that’s similar to the show n game
Lucy reminds me of Wendy from the original "Wonder Years" show, if anyone remembers that.
This show gives me hope that a BioShock adaptation can work.
Couldn’t tell that the Ghoul wasn’t an original character.
This is both a very very good adaptation from videogame to screen television AND the most disrespectful piece of media to older fans. Genuinely a solid 7/10 for FO1, FO2, and FNV fans and a 10/10 for everyone else
I'm not very familiar with all the fallout games. Can you explain why it's disrespectful for FO1-2 and new Vegas fans?
