Me too^^ oh. Your comment is a year old. Lol guess you're 55 now. Well close enough & we were so young when this show was on tv. Loved it! Also had MASH & All In The Family, Get Smart, Partidge Family, Carol Burnette...so many great shows. Sonny & Cher was always enjoyable.
I remember watching this show with my parents when I was a kid in the 1970s. Most people had 1 TV in the house back then, so we didn't have a choice but watch what our parents watched back then. Me and my brothers had the TV in the afternoon after school to watch cartoons when we weren't outside playing. Kids back then went outside to play. We didn't have video game console back in the 70s. We didn't have a computer or the internet back then neither. The 70s and 80s were the best decades.
Us kids were the remote control. My dad would say, "change it, wouldya?" and I-- propped up on my elbows with my face too close to the screen-- would grasp the knob and "guzh, guzh, guzh, guzh..." change the channel from 4 to 5 or 9. My sister would lay on her back with her foot near the knob and could change the channel by grasping the knob with her toes. And always, at least a dozen times per night, "move back from that screen! You'll ruin your eyes being up that close!" I also was the slapper of the side of the wood cabinet to get the squiggle lines of the picture to straighten back up, and I was also the rabbit ears adjuster. On some nights I had to stand there holding onto the rabbit ears to maintain whatever picture quality was possible.
***** So did I and my friends. We wanted to be skinny like her and have long hair like hers.. All kids have people on t.v. or movies that they want to be like.
Ikr......her voice is fire...his is just ok....but together they were insanely good...magical combination...and I think she was the perfect singer to compliment his voice
If you want to know my opinion, I think if Sonny Bono hadn't gotten into the politics gig after he and Cher split up, he probably could have made it as a country singer. His voice has somewhat of a southern twang to it.
Gosh, I really wish when people post videos that they would list the year the show first aired. The fact that they did Ringo's song in the medley plus the fashions make me think around 1972 or 1973. I remember Saturday night being THE night for tv. I haven't had broadcast tv in my house for a dozen years but even back then Saturday night was a graveyard. But the early '70s was before cable and of course the Internet so whatever was on the boob tube was IT. And I was just a little kid but I would watch "All in the Family," "Mary Tyler Moore" and "Sonny and Cher." Maybe "The Jeffersons" were in there, too.
Sonny really put her out there it’s because of him they made it big and Cher continued on with her singing career. The Beat Goes On is an awesome docu drama that gives us insight into both of them.

Cher has that distinctive contralto singing voice which no one else in the biz can match. I'm not sure if she would have ever made it big without Sonny in the picture. I've read she suffered from stage fright so during performances she'd look at Sonny, who'd somehow calm her nerves...I guess he was the anchor and brains behind Sonny & Cher. She gave quite a moving address at his funeral.
