I was in high school when this film was released. A girlfriend insisted I see it with her. The experience forged a bond that lasted well into adulthood. If I ever think my heart has turned to stone, all I have to do is listen to this and I’m reminded that I am still human.
Note how the ascending musical motif at the beginning of every verse is actually a direct quote from Gustav Mahler's 2nd Symphony 'Ressurection' which also deals with life, death and rebirth like Joe vs the Volcano did. And the German lyrics of that motif in Mahler's Symphony is "I shall die so as to live" followed by "Arise yes, you shall arise from the dead!" which is literally a perfect match to the Joe's(and later Patricia's) storyline!
I'm full of tears .............
absolutely wonderful
The most beautiful song I've ever heard also.

And don’t forget…one of the most romantic movie kisses. It’s perfect in a great scene….
