  • Food. We need it to survive. So maybe it's not surprising that many fix there daily routine and work schedule around it. While many like to discuss the quantity and quality of your diet, one factor i also think is important is when. So given some recent randomized controlled crossover trial looked into this, i thought it was time to talk about time in food consumption. They all seem to reach the same conclusion; so let’s take a quick look through them to see what, address the limitations and discuss what this all means. But firstly, why might timing of food consumption be important?

May be we should also ask what type of food we should eat in the morning vs in the evening.

I've been hearing that gut bio is important, especially what you put in your gut in the morning to start it off. Yogurt rich in microbial etc... The gut is interesting as it's like another brain, controls mood etc

One thing I want you to know. The changes in circadian rythm that take place after retirement can be unusual and confusing.

All these studies such as timing fail to realize the sleep quality of the subjects has a large impact on results. Let alone the type of food in the diet LCHF would be best.

Makes sense. I have a poultry operation in the farm (we raise 150k chickens for slaughter house every 60 days) and a few factors that really influence the rate at which they gain weight and the food protein conversion are:
    -lighting
    -temperature
    -sleep
    -access to water

Seems like there's massive overlap in the error bars between all 3 groups. It looks to me like these studies suggest that this makes a very marginal difference.

In my case, fasting on the morning till around 14hs make me more focus and productive. Eating window from 14~15hs to 20hs.

I think the later you eat the harder your body has to work to digest food instead of general metabolic recuperation. Therefore if you ate pizza just before going to bed your body is probably working on digestion all night. Then when you get up in the morning (besides not being properly rested) you may have breakfast to compound the problem of increased calorie intake. We are dominated by tradition and circadian rhythms, but it is also a good idea to eat only when you are hungry and to leave the table always feeling like you could have eaten a little more. None of this takes into consideration the differences in food intake according to age, where there are obviously vast differences in digestive and metabolic rates.

I often thought it curious that for some pious religious groups lunch is the last meal of the day.

To me, it makes more sense to study correlations between a waking duration and caloric intake, rather than study a correlations between feeding times and caloric intake.

I was hoping this would be about aging, but most of the studies seem to be about obesity.
