"What I'm looking for is an open" - the problem is that there is no open, it doesn't exist. There are 10+ heating connectors in parallel between 12+ and ground, and unless every single one is cut your open is not going to be there no matter what. What you need to measure is the Ohm increase. For a broken grid line the ohms will jump slightly compared to the rest.
Always a big fan of your videos Cory. Gotta call ya out on your choice of using the Ohmmeter to diagnose a defogger grid though... It's one big parallel circuit(s) so you won't see breaks. Ditch the Ohmmeter and use the Volt meter next time ( ;
I took my car in to see why the rear defrost wasn't working. They tested every thing and said it came back to a faulty module that cost 700 dollars. Can't i just tap in to the wiring and add a manual switch and turn it on and off myself?
One big problem with this meter. Unlike the base, there is no on/off switch for the display unit, Instead of spending money on new batteries, I started to use rechargeable ones in mine until I got fed up with it and went back to my 179. They should have installed an on/off slide switch on the side to prevent this display from having a parasitic draw on it.
Thats why i need to the ac/heater control unit wiring diagram for a chevy mont ss 2005 to see whats going on to trace the issue but its screwing up heat in this car. Very weird issue.
Fluke Corporation => You will never get an open reading because the are other lines in parallel. You only can measure a small jump in the resistance reading right across the interruption. I will forget your fault, if you send me one of these meters ;-)
ever run into a problem where when you press the defrost button for rear defrost on ac/heating control unit you get battery drain. I imagine its a short but it doesn't blow any fuses. And the weird thing is its affecting heat coming out of the vents for heating the car to. So i am lead to believe that the circuit for the defroster is before all the battery fuses so just drains the battery without blowing any fuses... or its enough corrosion resistance to make the short not a fully short wire to prevent a blowing a fuses just by corrosion build up resistance...hummm,
Hi there - You can view additional product images of the Fluke 233 Remote Display Digital Multimeter here on our website: www.fluke.com/en-us/product/electrical-testing/digital-multimeters/fluke-233 If you have any additional questions, please let us know. We're happy to help!
So? how did you TEST if the HRW in UK (heated rear window worked properly under defrosting/ misting) all the grids working? I only have 3 working no breaks in the other grids. WoW!!!! £280 for that meter....Im from the UK could buy a new back screen for that price...just saying thats all.

Niiiiiice being able to take the display out is awesome!
Would the passenger side on my C5 Corvette also be the positive?
I would have disconnected both of connectors before measuring resistance across the grid panel.

233 queimou fusível agora somente luz vermelha acende parou tudo..
What is the range, is it RF or optical ?

Exselecte diagnostic amigo
Thanks 👍

What if it shows a negative number?
Really speaking Facts
Usually means your leads are backwards
Using a sharp probe can damage the thin grid lines!
He was very ginger in touching those painted lines, but, good advice to other people who might be considering trying this themselves.
Or use any $0.49 12v incandescent light and do the same job.
A close up of your meter settings for us novice guys would have been helpful...

Great bit of kit
THANX
that fluke cost more than the car lol
The problem was he bought a Jeep...
I'm pretty sure you did that wrong.......great meter though!
