  • We tested the Stihl MS150TC vs the Echo CS-2511TES the we picked out of the market from pro users.
    MS150TC with original chain PM3 (1/4 1.1/0.043) 1.0kW, 2.6kg
    CS-2511TES with original chain A4S (1/4 1.1/0.043) 1.11kW, 2.3kg
Fuel: Aspen 2 (for both machines)
    Chain oil: Aspen Bio chain
Log/wood: 10x10cm Douglas (Pseudotsuga menziesii) coming from the same tree, same piece that was cut half way.
Before the test we warmed up the engines during 5 minutes (sequence:5sec. WOT/5sec idling) and we cut 2 cookies each.

Echo every time .starts easier n cuts quicker ...Why pay more for less for a stihl ...Thanks for the video

Should have alternated sides while cutting as many pieces of wood, even on the same tree vary in density. Also, not sure if this is covered in the video or description but type of chain also makes a significant difference.
I realize this video is just a quick demonstration of initial saw performance, but really you need to wait to come up with any type of conclusion until any saw has been used numerous times. The type of load you put on it, and how the carburetor is set (especially the high speed adjuster) are a couple reasons. Don't get me wrong, there certainly is value to these videos and I actually enjoy watching them when researching a product I might be interested in.

I feel like that still can do better was it a brand new chain?I think it looked a little dull could’ve bit down on her a little more I feel like the guy with the echo was more an aggressive cut give the stihl another chance maybe full chisel chain see what might happen

Both were tuned according the manufacturer's standards and had a brand new 1/4 chain

As the owner of a new MS151TC, this is just sad. But I knew it could happen. The problem clearly is caused by the Echo gloves used with the Stihl saw 🙂 The Stihl must have more conservative "defaults" including RPMs in the wood, chain, sprocket. Also, I'm sick of seeing Stihl bend over for the EPA.
It would be interesting to see someone do a review of both saws with mods, chains, sprockets optimized for material removal on each engine. They would need to be chosen so that the expected product life is still met.

Daniel Roberts the echo shits on the 150 but you do have to drill a 1/2 inch hole through the muffler on the echo coz they are chocked up bad, make sure to go through both plates as there are two layers of metal to get through before it’s drilled properly, drill it where the plastic muffler cover opening is about an inch below original existing outlet hole.then retune the saw and they fly it will seriously eat a 150 iv used both the stihl and the echo both with muffler mods and the echo still kicked it’s ass .

How/why is the 150(or even 151t, to be fair) such an under-performer to the 2511t? The 201t & 355t are identical specs and identical performance (+/- a few %'s in eitehr direction), I love my 355t and coveted the 2511t (that I now have) but when the time came to replace my 25cc climbsaw a few weeks ago I found myself trying *hard* to choose the 151t, I have never bought a new Stihl powerhead (untrue I got a 193 but returned it a day later) and was really trying to justify it especially with the 2511's going up to nearly $500 in my area, but just couldn't justify it no matter how I tried (and that would be true if they were the same price, even w/ the inflation of 2511 MSRP it's still below a 151t..)

@@JanMaesOutdoorTraining Can't argue that, there's always tons of exceptions but there's certain peculiarities to german, and japanese, hardware- seems like it almost applies as nicely to BMW's&Lexus as Stihl&Echo ;D (have always preferred japanese automobiles myself! My echos have never given me problem, 1st & foremost I'm a climber & need things to start in-tree when they're cold, it can take 30min to setup a cut if it's a big limb over a house, if the saw is finicky I'd delay a job over it but my echo's - 355t w/ 18" and now 2511t w/ 12" - are all I need, and even now am never using the 355t just 2511t and then rear-handles from there!)

@@facelesspsycho8252 I certainly HATE how many 25cc units come w/ 3/8LP but you can easily upgrade that, you cannot upgrade the 150's power-output with that same level of ease...apples-to-apples, if you consider getting both, porting both, and seeing to it they both have picco chains, the 2511 still wins :/
I did genuinely want to get the 151 for my replacement 25cc, realllly tried to convince myself!

Quelle tronçonneuse me conseillerais- tu? (en stihl ou autre mais des anciennes machines)
    Merci

Buy a new Husqvarna 395xp with a square filter cover
For the next process put on a 372xp triangular filter cover on. Tie the chainsaw on a rope & tow it without the guidebar behind your vehicle to break it in. Remove from process & restore with original components.
There's your second hand chainsaw (with scratch marks) to get across the border. ✔
