    I run this mower with the 24hp Kawasaki engine. The only time I have to choke it is if it’s cold out, below 60 id say but that’s ok that you need to choke the B&S all the time to get it to start. I use my MZ 61 in a small rural lawn mowing business and it has performed very good so far. I have 355 hours on mine so far so not a lot.

    I've had my Hq for about 4 years and I've always had to choke it to start. Same with you -- doesn't matter whether it's been sitting for a while or I had just turned it off. But it's a BEAST and I like it.

    Small cooler for diet MD and Kale sandwiches? Once we get a bigger yard to cut, you sold me on this product. I love when people write reviews and don't tell only about the good about the product and never the cons. Great review!

    I agree with much of what was said all the way down to it does like choke to start but starts right away if you use it. I am on my 4th year with the exact same mower. I agree the 27 hp engine is great plenty power and zero problems. However, I caution about the spindles they are JUNK they are made of a soft metal and i have had to replace several of them. The hydrostat drives on mine have never failed but they have not controlled properly since the day I purchased it. In fact, the day I brought it home I found many loose bolts and the arms were very poorly adjusted as was the deck. After tightening all the loose bolts and readjusting the arms and deck I still do not like the way the right side drive works it drives straight but right hand turns are less than great. It is a fast mowing machine which most things have been good but the spindles are junk.

    I don't like where the oil filter is. I make a mess every time. Have you had any transmission trouble? Mine quit tonight. That's why I'm looking for videos to help me trouble shoot. Good video!

      No trouble at all. As a matter of fact I cut a 2 acre pasture with (hard acres) it a day or so ago. I hear ya about the oil filter location, especially if you have big hands. 👍

    Glad to hear I'm not the only one who has to choke every time I start the mower. Ours is a Scag 72", 3 cyl, 31HP, Briggs/Dihatsu we picked up last year used and abused with a bad head. Now that its fixed, it is cutting my mowing time from 4 hours to less than an hour!

    we maintain a 16 acre property we manage and we've got a husky PZ72 and the MZ61, the PZ72 is a tank but the MZ61 is much much more maneuverable than that tank (PZ72) but I do experience the having to start with choke everytime. you get used to it.

  • @EarthSurferUSA
    @EarthSurferUSA 5 років тому +3

    I modify small engines for a living, but I could be off here. If you have to use the choke all the time, it sound to me the low speed carburetor circuit, "bleeds dry" faster than normal. The choke creates more vacuum to pull the fuel through again. It might be normal for that carb, (but is odd). I am not a fan of Briggs, or their fuel delivery systems, (my pusher had odd carb quirks also). I hear Kholer is pretty good, but I will prefer a Japanese engine anytime since the mid 80's. I am also a manufacturing expert, (in it all my adult life), and Japan is very very tough to be for quality. In fact, Japan developed most of the quality systems that factory's all over the world use, or try to use. Many do it wrong.

    • @HamiltonvilleFarm
      @HamiltonvilleFarm  5 років тому

      Right on👍 yeah I literally pull the choke up turn the key and push the key down. Every time. But other than that ,it runs like a champ. I love it

    • @Scout81
      @Scout81 4 роки тому +3

      I have an MZ 61 like his and it's a great mower. You may be right about the carb circuit bleeding dry faster, as my mower likes to be choked also, however you never smell gas and it doesn't get "flooded" which I like, so I don't really consider this a carb problem. You mention the Kholer and Japanese stuff and I haven't observed anything about those engines that are superior to the 27 horse Briggs. I also think this Briggs engine just sounds better than the Kawasaki. I mow my 8-acre field of fescue when it's well over a foot high wide open and this mower just lays the big grass down, doesn't bog, never overheats and is easy on gas . I've been using Briggs engines for over 50 years and found them to be very reliable.

    Logo Trivia: The Husqvarna logo, with the 3 vertical prongs on the top of it, are the open sights for a gun. Husky started out making guns.

    A fuel gauge would be really nice. That a the throttle not working itself down to idle all the time.

  • @vincemajestyk9497
    @vincemajestyk9497 2 роки тому

    Just curious about your seat. Did you add that? Mine is completely different and has the Husky logo on it. This looks kind of after-market. BTW, mine is also the 27hp Briggs and it will start without choking REALLY HOT, but if it cools 10 min or so it does need to be choked mostly to start. Reason is because the carbs are calibrated so lean for emissions. I have run E10 and Pure Gas (no ethanol) and noticed it starts better with no choking hot and runs cooler on the Pure Gas. The head temperatures are about 10 degrees cooler with pure gas.

    • @HamiltonvilleFarm

    • @vincemajestyk9497

      @@HamiltonvilleFarm I've never seen another MZ with that kind of seat. Mine is the 2 tone gray with logo embossed in the back thats in most of the pictures you see of these mowers. It's thinner than yours. I will agree I think the seat is the worst part of this mower. Was thinking of getting a gel cover or suspension for the seat. Sometimes would take me a day to recover after cutting.

    • @HamiltonvilleFarm
      @HamiltonvilleFarm  2 роки тому

      Yeah maybe standard was the wrong word. It’s the seat mine came with… I don’t know if the dealership ordered it with a different seat or what🤷🏻‍♂️ I don’t recall seeing something like “with upgraded seat!” On the sales literature
