    I've watched countless videos trying to find one that would help solve my mower problem, then I found this guy. He is by far the best ! Not only shows how it's done but he's entertaining as well... On a side note, if Hollywood ever did a remake of The Wizard of Oz, here's the guy to play the Lion. A little bit of makeup, done!

    Difference between the expensive & cheap mowers is the deck construction, especially the spindles & their support structure.

      Yes Rob, you are so right. It is very important that those rafters are reinforced and/or brace added to distribute the weight evenly throughout the ceiling mount for safety. We have both because there used to be a chain fall installed for pulling V8s out of race cars back in the 1970s. 🏎️
      Safety first 🙂

    If you’re really OCD like me, make three registration marks for the idler belt keeper - one on top and one on either side. Otherwise, parallax view could alter how well you align the keeper when reinstalling.
    Just sayin’, y’all! 😉👍

  • @dzdenek
    @dzdenek 2 місяці тому

    One thing is that there is s spacer on top of spindle between bearing and pulley. It keeps pulley from being pulled into spindle assembly. Also i never use an impact wrench on blade or spindle drive bolts. The impact wrench could cause the blade cut you. At least wrap the blade with rag and use ratchet or block blade with piece of wood. It is important to line up the star on blade when reinstalling the blade. You can tighten the blade and mess up stars alignment on spindle. I like the lift and cart. Most of time i use my tractor front end loader to service mine. My mower has been used so much and deck welded on and rebuilt. I would not remember the number of times. I have even had frame break by foot plate. The square tubing the frame is made of is pretty thin like deck.

    One thing on the idler pulley, if you can take the pulley apart, the bearing is a 6203 . I have drilled out the rivets replace the bearing and use4 bolts and nuts to put back together. Much cheaper than new idler pulleys.

    Thanks for the video! I have the exact same mower which runs fine just throws the belt constantly. On mine it looks like the belt runs on the upper half of the idler pulley and isn't "in plane" with the spindles which seem to be maybe 3/4" lower. I bought it used with low hours. I suspect they maybe put shorter spindles and it's causing it? Or could it be an over tightened idler spring? I'm about to pull my hair out. I replaced the idler but it still does it. I'm to the point I'm going to order all new parts and start over. Thank you again

    Hi, great video. I have the same mower and i am trying to figure out my issue. Was using last fall and a spring came off and inturn the belt came off. I have taken the deck off. One of the pulleys doesnt seem to sit right and has more play than the one on that deck your working on. Not sure what to do to fix it.

    • @Mrs.T-bone
      @Mrs.T-bone 4 місяці тому +1

      Check the center of the pulley, it should have a ball bearing, if the bearing is worn, it can come apart and the balls will fall out or if it has splines they could be worn off. The spring probably goes to your tensioner arm which holds tension on the belt. Careful visual inspection helps.

    T-bone - I have the same mower. Since day one that I can remember, the belt comes off at times when I engage the blade or even when cutting. I’ve had a shop look at it and change pulleys and etc. that was years ago and i still have the same issue. It seems like once the belt gets a little stretched out, it gets thrown off enough to where it gets cut bad enough to not be useable and has to be replaced. I go through about 2-3 belts a season. Please help! I’m tired of going thru this many belts.

    • @RaleysSmallEngines
      @RaleysSmallEngines  2 місяці тому

      Bring it to my shop, I will find the problem and fix it. I'm sorry I don't have the answer without seeing it in person. I do believe you have an issue that is being missed by the other shops. My first rule is "Careful Visual Inspection ".

    • @marcusvela6077
      @marcusvela6077 Місяць тому +1

      @@RaleysSmallEngines i have another issue. My belt is now peeling or shredding while I cut. It’s still in tact but basically peeling strips of the belt. This is the first time this has happened. It’s a brand new belt and the idler arm is not in the way where it’s causing the issue. I read it could be a worn pulley or something. Any recommendations as to where to start?

    • @RaleysSmallEngines
      @RaleysSmallEngines  Місяць тому

      @marcusvela6077 check every pulley, careful visual inspection. Pay close attention to burrs and binding on pulleys. Do NOT use cheap belts. Use OEM, Rotary or Stens belts. Pay close attention to tensioner arms also.

    There oughta be a law against this.
