Technology lifespan The average lifespan of consumer technology products varies, with TVs having the longest lifespan at 6.5 years, followed by desktop computers, multi-function printers, and smartphones. However, the average lifespan of electronics has decreased over time, from a projected 40 years when they were first mass produced to 4.5 years today. Game engine lifespan A game engine can last many years if it's upgraded to take advantage of new technology. However, the components of an engine can become outdated or insufficient over time. Updating an existing engine with new functionality can be costly and may require specialized engineering
I disagree, after a fumbled release the game has improved with age, hello games deserves a medal for all their free updates and content. They are one of the few if only developers who have gamers interests above profit, I hope no man's sky continues on and with any luck other companies will learn from their passion, it's not about the engine it's about the gameplay and community and having the right attitude and respect to the player base 🙂
@Bloodyedge86 said the game is at the end of it's life and expiring engine, I was disagreeing in the aspect that an old engine and old game doesn't mean the game is dying (or shouldn't) it's the gameplay that counts, games don't always have to be on the cutting edge to live, look at GTAV and Red dead for example.

all I'm saying is that you don't need the latest, best engine or tech to enjoy a good game, the original Doom as an example 🙂
@ until there is a engine that can do player one it will never end probably not even then
Hate to say it but this game is at the end of its life and it’s an amazing game it’s just an expiring engine almost ten years old on new consoles
