Aside from wobbling front wheels, heavy steering, fiddly shifters, hard-to-reach brake levers, misaligned assist sensor, a dead battery and the super heavy weight, it really is a well-engineered vehicle. I love it!
I really liked what you rode. Very unique and awesome for someone to build. The gear selector is really unique for a bike. It would be pretty funny to see this at the speed trials
The original 'Frogeye' Sprite Mk 1 could also carry kids in the rear, but only by climbing behind the seat and into the (lidless) rear cargo section. My uncle had a Frogeye and us kids got carried around that way, 2 at a time. Great fun. This would be early 1960s. Pedal device here is a real work of art.
It would be awesome if bikes were replaced with pedal cars. Like imagine at school, instead of bike racks, they would have little things to just lock your personal kiddie car to. Like if you wanted a 1970 Volvo when you’re older, you could have a little 1970 Volvo pedal car. Or if someone wanted a 1957 Thunderbird, when they’re older, they could have a little Thunderbird. I think it would let kids have more creative moments, and, come on, wouldn’t it just be cute to have little pedal cars zooming around, instead of bikes?
aaaaaahhh, you will have the same problem as cars. You can fit a lot more bikes compared to this machine. Imagine Utrecht Centraal Station's 12,500 two-tier cycle parking spaces (some spaces are not two-teir and don't have a rack, just spaces to put larger cycles like cargo bikes) but with these instead (with no ability to fit in two-level hydraulic racks) *shivers* You will also have the same traffic issues as cars...
the problem is with the aerodynamic choices of cars it was acceptable back then for velocars to be slow, but when internal combustion engines came they easily were fit inside all cars, because they allowed them to get faster now, there a huge problem with them because of energy inefficiencies of transporation most cars are used empty, imagine people just to move one person that weights say 80kg downtown, for a 20min commute which most people do, and they move around 1Ton of metal and plastic with them those are lot of energy spent moving an inert and useless mass thats the problem with modern transportation with the invention of carbon fibre, you will say that this should have changed but no, we got the same thing repeated but now people are moving around 2Tons of composite materials, and lithium batteries modern cars should die and get replaced by something more efficient, and velomobiles are the trailblazers

Another great video That’s pretty cool, the “caster” in the front wheels needs an adjustment This axis of the pivot is most like directly above the axle and contact patch causing that “shopping cart” wobble Maybe a geometry change so the steering pivot is behind the axle. Just a guess though
Ill start off by sayubg top marks for ingenuity and polish! That is a really nice looking ride!! I get the feel goods just looking at it. A key difference with between the pedal car and a Velomobile, No bottom tray. If it rains, the wheels kick rainwater and road grime up into the passenger compartment. (I live in Washington state so rain is a premiere concern)
Thanks for the great video. I think heavywall 70 has a great point about the wheel angle and higher speed wobble at directly above/ 90 degrees of arc. A bicycle or motorcycle steering pivot, seems aproximately 73 degrees for a road bicycle, 70 or 68 for a mountain bike, and between 58 and 65 degrees for motorcycles. Im also guessing but, this may balance friction pushing on either side of the wheel at a large range of speeds. A concept example may be a weathervane that shows wind direction, have wind pushing on one side, that makes it swing to the other, and if it was not the right length for a high wind speed it may 'ring', swinging with too much force to be a correction and going past the desirable correction angle, then gathering friction on the opposite side and swinging back too forcefully, and again and again from one side to the other.
Maybe I do. Hopefully he has time to fix it. It has been just sitting in it’s own tiny garage next to his house for the past year. He just hasn’t had time to completely finish it.
Wow and people would rather spend thousands of dollars on car insurance and gas i swear people love being in dept why spend thousands of dollars when you can peddle everywhere comfortably 😆
As a child I had a coaster car with a solid front axle that pivoted for turns and was controlled by pulley & rope wrapped around the steering column. It was crude but effective. I wonder if such a solution could work on a pedal car...All in all that's a cool build and deserves to be tinkered with until it's perfect.
i’m a big fan of the British cars and this guy did a great job of making the iconic BugEye or Frog Eye depending on where you live i have a Sprite myself q
I think, the only reason to drive velo-car is to avoid dirt, smoke and dust in city air. In our city its a big problem, roads are covered with sand and salt dust from winter. I think its posdible to make even air filtering system.
a great looking pedal car and well built, in my opinion its let down by the look of the wheels. I'd cover them in with a disc to make them look more solid from the side view.
I'm totally fascinated by that stupid simple solution of flipping the steering wheel up to get in and out. I asume its some kind of a U-Joint. It's a dishonor though, with those shaky frontwheels at "high speed", let's hope the constructor is still motivated to solve that problem in the future. So that one day his car is "finished".
looks great. just like the beautiful frog eye sprite. the way it drives is probably fairly authentic too. ie, slow, poor handling and always going wrong :)
I love your channel and videos. The use of the pedal cranks sharing that pedal is very clever, and better to use bike parts than the custom bent bars I have seen used for those dual pedals in the front. I am having trouble seeing it, but does it have shocks on the front?
Id like to know How wide is that because im starting to build a two seeted pedal car myself so it would be nice to get a rough picture of how wide it should be
Very cool, but probably needs to be built with very expensive materials to keep the weight low enough to be usable without electric assist. VERY cool build, though.
In the USA we call that car a bug eyed sprite. Any chance we could see a kit or plans for that car here? How about a contact number? I can see a few upgrades to make to it, like that front suspension.

Your steering problem can be fixed by adding a tie rod. Connect both front wheels, so they turn together. This should eliminate that wobble.
