  • The new Milwaukee M12 FUEL™ 1/2” X 18” Bandfile 2482-20 was covered in our other video - • A Look at the Milwauke... - released this week, but in this iteration we'll be doing a deep dive into the tool where we explore its features in-depth and also put it head-to-head against two other predecessor tools from Milwaukee: the M12 FUEL™ 3" Compact Cut Off Tool (#2522-20), which was adapted for bandfile functionality, and the Milwaukee 5.5 Amp Bandfile (#6101). We'll be comparing the new bandfile against the adapted cut-off tool and older bandfile, going over pros and cons, looking at things like belt placement and other particulars, and more.
If you have this tool or one of the older iterations, let us know what you think about it in the comments below. And if you like this video, please 'like' it. If you're not already a subscriber to the channel, please consider doing so. Thanks for watching!

Great content and review. I recently bought the unit you tested. Question: Will the 3/8" Milwaukee band file arm fit the 1/2" power unit, and, if so, is the 3/8"x12"(?) band file arm available separately from Milwaukee?

That is a great question, I do not have an answer for you but I'll try and do some digging and find out. I'm thinking the two tools should be similar. The drive wheel may be a different size between them.

Wish you would have done a fair comparison to the original 1/2"x 18" adapter kit I made. It is significantly better than the 3/8. And cheaper than the new tool. Thanks

I might be able to make that happen.

I got some ideas to get some real comparisons with some data to compare. I gotta make up a few rigs but it should be fun.

Thats quite an assortment. Let me know how they hold up for you. Sometimes the cheaper products are a better value, especially with consumables like sandpaper.

40 would be brutal. I'm looking into doing some further testing, I think we are going to use paper from Harbor Freight on all of the tools.
What do you like to run on your band file?

I read in the specs somewhere that the origin is China, is this written on the box?

It says right on it, Made in China. Pretty hard to avoid with most the big brands these days unfortunately.

@@TalkingHandsTools Thanks You’re unfortunately right which leaves me in a dilemma.

I can't argue with that. One of the reasons I like older tools is they weren't outsourced there. Milwaukee was in Germany and the US through the mid 2000s the last place was The Czech Republic in the late 2000s with the Lok Tor and first of the V28. Eventually I'd like to follow the progression of all that a little better on the channel.
