I was fascinated when I realised that Kenny's line "everybody is a slave to something" is originally from Vinland.
I think AoT makes better use of it as a major theme of the story, but Yukimura casually putting such a fire line in this story is just a flex

So the thing that most people don’t realise is that the Vikings were just regular people, they had regular villages and regular farms, however they were legally allowed to go and attack other peoples villages, so being a Viking pirate was just a job, a hazardous one definitely but there have always been hazardous jobs and this was one that was extremely lucrative, also they often just pillaged churches or monasteries since they were filled with treasure and the priests and monks wouldn’t fight back.

When Askeladd looks at Thorfinn and says "You got taller, how old are you now?" you said it was a weird dialogue; my interpretation is that Askeladd is realizing he's been underestimating Throfinn and hasn't really taken stock of how dangerous he's become until the duel was about to start.
