I think that many of us dream of owning a cozy home next to a river, in a quiet and peaceful place, when we retire and reach old age. Each day you would enjoy the sunrise and the sunset, drink hot tea on your terrace, and look out into the distance with a thoughtful expression. Many years ago, an American man by the name of Morton Jablin had the same dream for his retirement.

      Yes, this man is amazing.
But, one doesn't necessarily have to live on a boat.
In Europe people have been doing this sort of thing by living in an hotel. That would be my choice.
Just think, you have your rooms cleaned, your beds made, and you have the option of going to a dining room if you don't wish to eat in your own apartment, and choose an already cooked meal ... prepared by a chef.
I would have my privacy as well as people/friends around me all the time.
      What better way to live?

Well I've seen some other things on UA-cam where people have done stuff like that but the amount of money was a lot more than what they're talking about their butt this is 13 years of this guy doing it so who knows but it would be great to be able to do something like that someplace down the line I would have thought that he would have had to change ships because I would think they would put the ship in there for maintenance or something overhaul or whatever they do to but I'm sure something like that has to happen every so often

This is something that I have wanted to do but I am unable to afford it. I'll be turning only 63 tomorrow and I'm still married (40 years) but even with both our incomes we'd still not have enough to stay on a ship like this. My wife is 8 years older than me and if for some reason I'm every single again, I will look heavily into this and see if it's even possible somehow.

So it costs him $3,802/mth or $45,625 pa. If your home sells for $450,000 that’ll give you 9.86years on a cruise ship. No cooking, cleaning or driving (you’ll never have a car crash). Waited on hand and foot. Plenty of company and entertainment which changes monthly.
    However as you’re NOT payjng
    - Rates or Water
    - Electricity or gas
    - Groceries
    - Car Maintenace, fuel or license, car replacement
    - Eating out, movies or other recreation outlay like golf, pool fees etc
    - Household eg cleaner, outgoings such as toilet paper etc
    - In-home carer
    - Garden maintenance eg mowing, trimming etc
    - Medical Care
Your savings can be added to your yearly cruise costs so add another $40,000pa which has you cruising eternally. Guess you can save on funeral costs too and simply get buried at sea by the Captain.
However, abandon ship if Covid hits as you’ll die early

I have heard of others doing this, or living in a nice hotel instead of other options like a Nursing/Retirement home. This is much better. Who needs others to tell you when to be awake and asleep?? That sounds more like a concentration camp. We all need to be in the drivers seat of our own lives. I have lived and worked in four countries since leaving home at 17! Put myself through University, and really have gone everywhere I want to. Doing this is much easier than actually locating someone with whom one has complete harmony and synergy... and love to last a lifetime. After seeing my parents amazing and wonderful relationship and marriage... never met anyone with whom the connection was deep enough to consider it a lifetime option mirroring the connection my parents had. Without that, what's the point. This is a great option. I have worked since age 17 and love the idea of this.
