- NEW Toyota GR Yaris project car has arrived! The GR Yaris is a homologation rally special, built from the ground up to win WRC races this road legal rally car has 257bhp and 265lb ft of torque from the worlds most power dense 3-cylinder engine. The punchy unit and four-wheel drive together enable the GR Yaris to reach 62mph from rest in just 5.5 seconds. Top speed is an electronically limited 142mph and it picks apart a country road like you wouldn't believe!
Excitingly, this is to be the channels first project car! The basic platform of this little pocket rocket is fantastic but there are a few things I'd like enhance in phase 1 which we discuss in today's video!

Dedicated 'Production Bunkers' dont come cheap and commercial relationships are key for all influencers. I am sure people would be complaining if James hadn't tried to expand and had continued to churn out the same old content like Archie Hamilton or Supercars of London. Litchfield are not shrinking violets and knew exactly what the reaction would be when contacting Chris Harris. Its hardly bad for business and I'm sure they are laughing all the way to the bank.

All influencers ask for freebies and James's only crime was misjudging his commercial worth. His "begging" will result in a lot of free PR and additional business for Litchfield which they were fully aware of when contacting Chris Harris. Personally, if this was my car and I had an unlimited, I would make it a tarmac rally type car, go with reiger coilovers, lowered seats, 1/2 cage, mild aero and if I really had an unlimited budget a sequential box but with helical in stead of straight cut gears and a hand brake. Realisticly though I would say lowered Recaro PolePositions, 1/2 cage, some tasteful rally lights and a nice set of coilovers

The 'influencer' tested the strength of their brand and found out Litchfield didn't see it quite as strong as the 'influencer' marketing team did. It's fun to read about it all but this is just the direction that mass social media is going. You wonder if some other product provider already accepted a similar deal in the past, or was this the first big brave move to test the limits. It's just like ultra low balling an offer on ebay. Sometimes you get it, sometimes it starts the negotiation and sometimes you get humiliated or blanked :-).

After all this situation I wonder how much Toyota paid to all this influencers. Isn’t it strange that a lot of them have suddenly the new Yaris GR in their fleets and before anyone else. Something similar happened with the Supra when it was launched, no? It’s a marketing tool and I must say Toyota is using it very well. How many Yaris GR have they already sold worldwide as a result of this low budget action?

Okay unlikely but I work with 'influencers' and once had an interesting conversation with a cool and trendy cake shop that was bursting with them taking identikit photos around the store nibbling on overly sweet crap. So the GR Yaris is going to be the 2021 version of the Supra. At least it's not as expensive and probably a lot more practical. We are not allowed to have it in North America.

I think tim has done a very good job. Most of the time. Europeans are more conservative then americans or Asians when it comes to specs or mods. Tim has taken some chances
Unless something fundamentally changes in the next day or so I think James is essentially finished. Nothing that he says can be believed anymore. Everything he's said in the past is discredited for him not declaring any conflict of interests. Who knows what deals he's made with other companies to promote their products while pulling the wool over our eyes by singing their praises. I'd imagine Aston Martin will be parting ways with him very soon and the DBX JWW Influencer Special Edition will never come to fruition. I certainly wouldn't want to be associated with him now!
