  • Hey gang, in today's video we do something we haven't tried before and that is BACKROLLING. We've seen a few people talk about it here and there and we've always wondered...does backrolling REALLY make that big of a difference. You'll be surprised. In this video we go into some of our findings regarding the subject and we hope you can take away just as much from this video as we did the experience. Stay tuned for our next video gang! Thanks for watching and we'll see ya in the next one!

I used to spray lemon pledge on the gun, hose, and sprayer which didn’t allow the overspray to stick so it cleaned up very easily at the end of the day. Good work Pack, job looks great so far!

When rolling and back rolling it’s always good to finish every stroke in the same direction all the way from one end to the other 👍

Good show. I always backroll when spray applicating. Ceilings for sure. Also most of the time we will do the ceilings first in a flat in order to tone done reflections and shadows. Walls can be whatever color chosen, but a white tone ceiling really makes room brightness pop.

As a painting contractor of 20+ years. I spray and backroll practically everything. The only thing not rolled is the trim. Fresh drywall is a MUST backroll situation. Also to get perfect results on new drywall I recommend: mud & tape, prepcoat, texture, THEN prime (PVA), THEN paint (preferably 2 coats). Prep coat will make your texture come out very nice without any flashing issues.

Excellent job as usual guys!!! Try a wider roller next time, I feel it's much easier and faster when back rolling. Keep up the excellent work!

Renovating my basement with fresh drywall and a new paint sprayer - great tips on back rolling! Perhaps a tip for you - I found adding a little tint to primer for ceilings makes it visually different enough to help see where you've covered. Keep up the excellent work

Great job guys and also great camera work showing us the process. I have to agree and say that back rolling is the way to go after spraying. I have got much better results this way as well.

Different surfaces, different brands of drywall, and patches all absorb primer differently. I think that is what Jordan encountered while backrolling.

Great job! Love the tip for adding the additional filter to the inlet. I always back roll when spraying drywall. Try using an 18" roller it makes back rolling easier and faster

To start I'd like to say I love your guy's channel. I happened upon it yesterday and I'm almost through every video and can't get enough. You guys are great. You have the same concept about perfection that I had when I has remodeling a house, tiling a bathroom or a kitchen or hanging and mudding drywall. The only affliction I had is it was never perfect in my eyes. In regards to a statement you made on the video about commenters asking about using the green board. I was taught in the military and a old time drywaller I worked with when I lived in Texas that the only time you need to use green board is in high moisture areas. Green board is standard drywall with a moisture resistant green paper. If there are any tears or defects that pernitrate the paper it will be subject to failure and at risk of moisture damage that drywall gets in high moisture areas. I typically used green board in bathrooms as added protection alongside of a good quality exhaust fan and hopefully a window. It is important if your only doing a 3/4 tile on the bathtub/shower that the 1/4 portion at the top (above possible water level) is done in green board because that is the area with the highest risk to moisture and mold. Anyways, you guys keep it up and be safe!

Awesome. Just did the almost exact thing on a "Reno" I'm doing. This one was to rehabilitate an 80 year old home from the original owners smoking for all those 80 years. The back rolling was a huge key to get a run less job over sealer, primer. and paint over the key features of an old plaster ceiling and wall. We really wanted to keep the old textured ceiling and "Plaster Crown" features. And it was the first time I'd used an airless sprayer. Preparation is critical to doing a job with no wasted labor.

I had used this method for exterior stucco painting for years. Especially when applying elastomeric paints. I tried it on a interior replaster job and it worked perfectly. Kudos!

The “Josh disliking the video” and the Holy Grail Paint Filter clips had me laughing. That finish looked fantastic boys. I’d bet even a good pro painter would give you at least 4 stars....hahahaha. Great stuff as always.
