Great effort on the spending time to review the chairs! I have personally used a secretlab titan chair for 5 years and now just changed to the HINOMI H1 PRO. Have been using it for a few weeks now. takes awhile to get used to it as it "forces" me to sit in a certain ergonomic way, but overall it has helped improved my posture and less back pain.
With this chair you were like “everything is really good on this chair”… C tier. 😐 I’ve had Secret Lab Chairs for the past 5 years, as well, and have the current Titan Evo. It’s just… not comfortable. Even with the built in lumbar, there’s not much support, and the seat is like sitting on concrete pavement. Also, it’s extremely loud - everywhere it can squeak, it does. If you’re spending hours in a chair each day, quality shouldn’t be based on the different ways you can sit in it (sitting sideways in a chair is a one way ticket to skipping all the lines at Disney), it should be what chair keeps you from sitting permanently in the future.
I find mesh chairs more comfortable and require lower maintenance in this warm and humid SG weather. This is especially true for those who tend to perspire easily as fabric and leather chairs would require more frequent cleaning to keep the foam and material clean and in good shape. I'm using the Herman Miller Aeron in office and Ergotune Supreme V3 at home. I prefer the Ergotune chair more after a few days of adjusting the neck rest and lumbar support to the sweet spot. It's quite a good value mesh chair, maybe at the top range of C tier since Aeron is placed in the B tier. The Aeron mesh does feel firmer and more premium.
Thanks for sharing! Actually in my experience, mesh is even harder to clean. In the world of sofa, we commonly see leather and fabric sofa, just wondering why isnt there really a mesh sofa 🤔
IMO mesh is only good if you sweat profusely or live in the desert. They tend to be hard as seat pans, dig into your skin, and pull linen from your clothes covering them in lint.
Definitely agree with the Steelcase Leap... I managed to get a second hand one without the headrest for less than half the retail price and it's been serving well!
The shot at 1:23 convinced me to go with the embody ! I do console gaming with my feet on a footstool and I also work at a desk. Seems like it would fit both categories. I’m into just buying a really nice chair once
i just got a fern with the 11.11 sale for about $934 (std price $1.39k I think). Sadly they don't sell the digital knit version here. Before buying I tried Herman Miller Aeron, Embody, Steelcase Leap as well. Was torn between Leap and Fern but went with the Fern cause it felt more comfortable for me and i like the lumbar which most ppl seem to say is aggressive. and with discounts it was cheaper too. End of the day, its most important to try out all the chairs when you can and get one that is most comfy for your body. for me embody/leap/fern would have been A. i would put aeron at C cause I just dislike how full mesh feels and its very expensive too.
Just bought the Leap today and finding the lumbar very aggressive. I do like to alternate between standing, kneeing and sitting so I think overall I just need to give it a bit of time to get used to the Leap. Almost bought a second hand 6 year old Gesture for half the price. I really liked the armrests but it was missing lumbar. It also felt like there was a lot more empty space around my shoulders. Leap isn't perfect but it ticks enough boxes and I think it will grow on me over time. I did watch your review before buying the Leap and appreciate your honesty. The Ergotune was my first option, then the Leap then the Gesture. I think the Gesture would have been good too but seems to be a mixed bag online about people liking it.
Steelcase Leap is really comfortable but the cushion backrest traps so much heat. I feel so hot when trying it. Would be better if you can use it in 24/7 air con room.
Im 175 & i find steelcase leap most suitable as well. Something about its back support that really stands out compared to other chairs. Also find that cushion seats are more comfortable over long hours, and some mesh chairs aren’t exactly breathable as they claim..
Hi I'm a pro video game player and - spend most of my day sitting in front of my computer. I'm looking for an ergonomic office chair that can help me maintain good posture and prevent back pain. I'm hoping you can recommend a few chairs that fit my needs.I have a budget of 300 euros, 500 euros, and 700 euros. Could you please suggest 2-3 chairs in each price range? Thank you so much
Steelcase has a new chair called the Karman, a mesh design which seems like it's designed to take on the Aeron while challenging the main downsides of the Aeron (i.e. hard frame and price). Can try when it comes out! I love my Leap V2s, but honestly it really takes in all the sweat throughout the day, unless my aircon is always on (i suppose that why it's better at the office). Always has this "ass" smell if I sit in it for many hours hahaha. The fabric also gradually wears down and gets "pulled" like an untucked shirt.
Only mesh chairs if non air con for me. Otherwise leather or cloth is too hot. I have the steelcase leap and also in office, don’t find it very good. Just decent, and great value if you can get a second hand one for cheap (below $300). I stop using it at home because it was so so hot after a while.
i switched from Aeron Classic, to a Mirra 2. and Loving the Mirra ! i think it looks cooler, and its way more comfortable with the larger back rest, and more adjustment options, and better arm rests ! its the same tilt though
I really agree with your assessment here. I love the embody, but can't get over the price, and am currently using the Steelcase Leap. I am seriously considering the Aeron as a second chair in the home and have used the original at my previous company. You're probably the first person to have mentioned the aggressiveness of the lumbar on the Ergotune and I have to agree. For the best ergonomics, we're supposed to sit with our bum as far back in the chair as possible, however, I find that doing so in the Ergotune forces excessive lumbar lordosis, which is very uncomfortable for me, and also result in me not having my whole back on the chair. If they manage to reduce the aggressiveness of the chair, I could really see the chair as a force in its price range, as while its quality is much lower than the Herman Miller and Steelcase chairs, so is its price.
Very nice work mate, may i ask what desk are you using in the beginning of the video and what color is it? How did you manage to keep the cables nice and neat and not visible? 👏🏼
I got the HM logitech cyan version + Atlas headrest. Best chair for me too for sitting the whole day. My programmer friend recommends this too. I like to sit crosslegged, so the big and extendable seat is really good. But only 1 thing i don't like is that it's not really nice to lounge or nap, bcos the backrest don't have a large angle to adjust.
I feel like the aeron is a bit underranked here. Granted different people prefer different things. I went to a showroom with my buddy and we tried out both. He preferred the embody but i didn't find it comfortable and preferred the aeron so i bought that one. I really feel like if possibly people should go try them as they are very different and different people will prefer different ones. I will say with the aeron there is only one way to sit in it comfortably, the hard plastic rim around the seat makes it impossible to sit any other way. With that said it more or less forces you to sit properly but if you do you'll no longer have back pain like I did which is the whole reason i spent the money cuz the $400-$500 chairs weren't cutting it or would be okay for a while until my heavy ass flatten the cushion at which point they became unusable for me.
Did you find that comfort also depended on the material and design of the back (whether there are "holes" for "breathing" and air circulation, especially if you are at home and don't wear a shirt?
Hi Alex, big fan of your channel! I wanted to check with you which smart home OS system do you use and why? I'm currently using iPhone and homekit but thinking if I should switch over to Pixel and Google home
the best chair is one that doesnt flick over , lol , that feeling of falling off the chair , horrendous , a must test when i look for a chair , think the base measurement matters , too short width probably cant sit with leg on table

hey alex! thanks for the video im using the herman embody as well. if you need a 3rd party headrest canconsider 1 from atlas headrest (US store), it's great though takes awhile to ship.
The embody is underwhelming and makes too much noise, feels cheap. The arm rests are terrible and it doesn’t tilt far back enough and the butt pad lifts during tilt. I don’t understand the hype. The aeron felt premium and has the best arms rests in the game. It supports great posture without having to adjust the back every time and I can sit in it for hours.

this was a perfect video for me. was hoping to see the Hinomi rank higher but very happy for an honest comparison.
its actually a good chair and I can see why many people will get it, for me I just don't like those 2-piece mesh backrest

Its insane the current prices of the leap, given the 20% off sale of Embody, should I just get one of those for $1500 or so?

Hinomi h1 pro as shown in the video

Yup backrest and seat area material all matter, if sitting on a chair naked, then you might see the 'holes' 'printed' on your body after some time haa
@@AlexTeo I'm more concerned about air flow so it doesn't become hot or sweaty, not so much the "printing" on the skin.
