Every now and then, though it is very rare these days, an artist or a group will come along and bring something so incredibly unique and longed for that it makes you wonder “where the hell did these guys come from, and why the hell am I just discovering them now” ?? Paul’s voice is something amazing, I hear unique twist to Otis Redding and All Green, his presence reminds me of everything from James Brown to Buddy Holly and the Broken Bones band are fantastic musicians. What a treat, can’t stop listening to this powerhouse band! Thank you St Paul and the BB’s, You guys have officially just become one of my all time favorites and only after 4 songs.
Excellent choix ✌️☮️❗
This is the best band I have seen in a really long time. Just stunning how good this band is, Start to finish great show. These guys should be very very big, people will find out, are you ready for this People?
Takes me back to the 70s. Glad they play this style of music.
One of the tightest bands on the face of the earth!
I'm crazy about this singer, what a talent, this whole band, every song, so much talent, thanks you guys! Come to Portland (OR) !
I'm hearin' Van the Man
Nice to have that instrumental at the beginning to showcase how much of a badass Browan Lollar is. I think sometimes people forget when he's behind Paul Janeway.
Wow!! These guys are the Real Deal! You can't stop listening/watching them!
In the records they sound good, on that stage they sound GREAT.
Beautiful souls ..love ya ,,,thank you !!!!!!!!
Class, pure class. Dressed to the nines compared to the "play clothes" a lot of today's performers prefer to wear. Those threads match the bands tight groove. Impressive. I'm still amazed every time I listen to these guys in 2021.
It's really GREAT to hear this kind of music again. Takes me back years.
Reminds me of my band from high school (circa 1967) into the 70's. Grooving on all the R&B standards of the day. Tight horn fueled rhythmic harmonies, a pulse-setting bass, drum, guitar triad punching staccato interplay, simultaneously mimicking the jabs of an up and coming middle-weight champion, and a brother out front with an Otis/James fired vocal cutting through the melodies note for note with razor sharp precision; and leaving 'em wanting just one more. Who says life doesn't revolve 360? Fifty years ago this was the musical standard. I feel a revival comin' on. Keep on doing it y'all. R&B Lives!!!🎸🎵👑
Simply amazing...like in the fantastic early 70’s...cannot stop watching / listening
More !
Seen them last week in Leeds , brilliant . Great great band and what a voice , can’t wait to see them again .

How bad ass is it that they're playing Sly and the Family Stone's "Simple Song!" No wonder they're so good; they're rooted in good music that has stood the test of time.

This beats all the BS so-called music out there today.
New hope is born. Music is not yet dead. There are some few artist with talent carrying on out there.
+Odins Acolyte There is a lot of it, it just isn't on the radio. Radio is dying and people are finding good music by other means.
Just dont listen to the radio and look for your own music sources and you will find tons upon tons of amazing music. Actually we are making more good music than ever before, its just such a huge amount that its harder to keep track of and mainstream radio tends to play the same 10 pop songs mixed with the 100 most popular oldies, which creates the illusion that no good music is being made.
Otto Toksik Yup ,we know the story on radio . So what are the names of some of these bands that are making tons of amazing music ? Along the lines of St.paul , N. Rateliff ,,Rockin/blues or either.
@@peterbetts858 It must be tough being a shut-in. Turn off your radio and go to live venues. If you can't find music that is far superior to what is on commercial radio, I will have your baby. Speaking of radio, depending on where you live, there should be at least one non-commercial radio station with superior music. While you are here on UA-cam, you might want to bounce around, to find the many gems of music that reside here. Don't be such a defeatist.
@@photodawg1946 i go to more live shows that are quality than anyone in my town .. i dont listen to radio . Defeatest . . .?! ? everybody on here is talkin about all this fantastic new music but no ones naming names . i at least put some names out there . What do you think of Tedeschi Trucks Band ?
Banda Foda! Simples assim
Foda!!!
Vu à La Cartonnerie à Reims.... Vraiment sympa !
Chew on this while I clean kitchen. Lol
Bama Boys!!!!!
Magic shoes😎
Gold shoes aside, which are perfect, this band rocks and Paul isn't bad either. Lol
Good, good, good, (y) (y)
Love the music and these guys! Sadly, (and yes, I know it is live), the mix is off. The trumpet is too hot.
st paul and the
John Belushi moves
These riffs in the first song sound like the dead weather mixed with everyday people by sly & the family stone. I wonder if those artists influenced the the guitarists subconscious riffing.
The first song is a Sly and The Family Song
Can anyone tell me what brand of hammond organ clone that is?
St.Paul and the broken shoe
F*****' awesome band! Even with Charles Bradley and Sharon Jones :-)
who gives this a thumbs down?
Can anyone guess what music his parents listened to? I’d like to shake his parents hand for raising him on good music!
Jimmy Kimmel on Keys. Sean Lennon on bass. And Joseph Gordon Levitt on drums.
Oops my wife's log on. Sorry honey, Gary
I believe in reincarnation....Otis is back !!!!!....in a chubbie white boy suit.
First song - nice cover of booker t and the mgs.
The lizard says the dude is 100%
I consider this band as a 'Soul Music Band', not really an 'R&B Band' - Soul music is a combination of R&B (Rhythm and Blues) and gospel music and began in the late 1950s in the United States. Originating in the African American communities throughout the United States in the 1950s and early 1960s. It combines elements of African-American gospel music, rhythm and blues and jazz. -- While Soul has a lot in common with R&B, its differences include its use of gospel-music devices, its greater emphasis on vocalists, and its merging of religious and secular themes. - Soul music was born in Memphis and more widely in the southern US where most of the performing artists were from. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame says that soul is "music that arose out of the Black experience in America through the transmutation of gospel and rhythm & blues into a form of funky, secular testifying."
Roots of Soul Music ..
More than any other genre of popular American music, Soul is the result of the combination and merging of previous styles and substyles in the 1950s and 60s. Broadly speaking, the soul comes from a gospel (the sacred) and blues (the profane). Blues was mainly a musical style that praised the fleshly desire whereas gospel was more oriented toward spiritual inspiration. ~
The 1950s recordings of Black R&B performers Sam Cooke, Ray Charles, and James Brown are commonly considered the beginnings of Soul music. Following their success, White artists such as Elvis Presley and Buddy Holly adopted the sound, removing most of the gospel message but keeping the same musical techniques, instrumentation, and feeling. ~
Once it gained popularity among White musical groups, a new genre emerged called "Blue-Eyed Soul." The Righteous Brothers actually named one of their albums Blue-Eyed Soul, while artists such as Dusty Springfield and Tom Jones were sometimes described as blue-eyed soul singers because of the soulful nature of their lyrics and sound. ~
Soul music ruled the Black music charts throughout the 1960s, with artists such as Aretha Franklin and James Brown leading the charts. Motown music is often described as Detroit Soul and included work by such top artists as Marvin Gaye, The Supremes, and Stevie Wonder.
Music Inspired by Soul
Soul inspired many other music styles such as current pop music and funk. In fact, it never went away, it simply evolved. There are many different types of soul music, including Southern Soul, Neo-Soul and other Soul-inspired movements such as:
Philadelphia soul and the doo-wop sound;
Psychedelic soul, a combination of soul and psychedelic rock and roll, led by such artists as Jimmy Hendrix and James Brown, which paved the way for Funk music in the 1960s;
Hyper soul, a combination of soul and dance music, as performed by Whitney Houston and Destiny's Child. ~
Contemporary Soul Artists ..
Examples of popular contemporary Soul music artists include Mary J. Blige, Anthony Hamilton, Joss Stone, and Raphael Saadiq. In addition, it's fair to say that disco, funk, and even hip-hop derive from soul music. ~
Over the years, the Grammy Awards for Soul music have changed their name, reflecting the culture of the era. From 1978 to 1983, an award was given for Best Soul Gospel Performance, Contemporary. Today, the award is given to Best Gospel Album. ~~~
Somehow I think they should have 2-3 background singer chicks dressed as catholic school girls...
I can picture that, great idea man! 😁
Agreed.
+DerEchteBold
I hear 'em even if they aren't there.
It would be cool. Don't care what they wear (But I feel ya')
