Hi, I see this is an old video & I'm sure you've realised by now but you've misunderstood Luc's explanation. The measurement you quote as 2.4 to 3 times the drill size is to what Luc calls the "cone intersect". The cone being the 12mm pin that goes in the collet (his not so good English) & is way different from the distance between the drill tip and the fixture, & depends on a few factors. Luc produced a .pdf of Excel tables for this which are available on a link on his video.

Nicely done. Now if I could only find spare flanges for my specific grinder.

Maintenance Question: what are the lubrication points and how do you grease or oil them?

There should be 3 oiling points if I remember correctly. You will need a good oil can to inject oil into them. One lubricates the movement of the grinding wheel and two of the shaft at t.he bottom

What other wheels do you use and where do you get the flanges?

Excellent information (subscribed) BUT ... How did you lock the spindle?
    Jeez, the instructions don't exist!
I've noted the quill lock knob, but on one side of it, there is a button oiler, the other side a set screw.
Have you sussed what it does?
Similarly, on the forward face (beneath the stop switch), inline with the toolpost carriage shaft, there is a button oiler for the right bush, but a set screw for the left bush.
I have seen some pics where there are two button oilers ... any thoughts on these set screws?
I've just received my grinder, and am being cautious, primarily because there is no exploded diagram.
I'm thinking that it may be best to simply disassemble the machine, in order to clean off the gunk, and to make my own diagram.
However, any pre-knowledge on this, will be useful :)

Check out my other video on the grinder ua-cam.com/video/-skelLwAcQI/v-deo.html . Should answer your questions.

      @@ProjectsDownUnder Thanks for that :)
I'm guessing that the carriage set screw performs a similar task as per the quill set screw.
Anyway, the vid provided a good, rapid overview of the machine - thunbs up :)

    Very good information
I have a question regarding the d bit grinding settings, the manual refers to a white dot window which is not present on the machine, how do you set the angles?
    Thanks

The manual is hopeless. You just undo the black levers and move the axis that you want.

@@ProjectsDownUnder That's not the question he is asking. He is asking about properly aligning the cutting edge when setting up for grinding actual single lip cutters. @Stan Stevens to answer your question, there doesn't appear to be any way to do this built into the machine. This fact, combined with the fact that there is no vernier on the radius offset scale, effectively renders these machines entirely inadequate to use for their primary intended purpose. You'll need to make modifications to fix this if you want to actually, you know, grind "D-bits" with your "D-bit Grinder"
