Also from Dion you gotta check out "Ruby Baby". It is said that one day after Dion did his number, behind the curtains Little Richard's mom herself approached to Dion and told him "son, you got soul!".
Dion has a new album. It’s an amazing blues album. Song for Sam featuring Paul Simon. It’s based on his time with Sam Cooke in segregated south. Really good. But from the early days- Runaround Sue.

Julie Buretz Isn’t he?! I can’t wait each day to hear who he discovers next! And he’s really got a talent for listening to all genres, instruments, vocalists and eras. Makes me love music more! 💕
This song was funny to sing to because of the lyrics and beat. The raspy sound of Dion coupled with his backup doowop crooners. Also that saxophone player was dope too. These types of songs was during my dads era, the 1950's and up. He wasa working man and a greaser type. Thanks for the reaction video. 2👍🏻👍🏻
Man, you are on a roll!! This is the early days of rock & roll and it was an exciting time to be a music lover...so many great artists...so many great songs!

You have to hear "If You Want To Be Happy For The Rest Of Your Life" by Jimmy Soul. Don't even look at the lyrics - it'll spoil it! I promise it's clean.
I love this too. Leif Garret covered this and Run around Sue in late 70s and he was my teenage heartthrob. Your killing it with all this great music. I love that you are so open to so many genres of music. 😊
Ugh. Along with Elton John, Carly Simon, Rod Stewart, and the Eagles, these overplayed bores and their ugly voices made it a torment to enter any public space for decades.

@@jamarrhubbard7426 it's a classic!
Let me throw in one that is so underrated it's ridiculous... I Wonder Why by Dion and the Belmonts, 1959!
Another great song by Dion is "Where Or When". It's a real change of pace from this one.
The audience was not ready for that reminds me of Back to the Future when rock n roll was starting up.
Also from Dion you gotta check out "Ruby Baby". It is said that one day after Dion did his number, behind the curtains Little Richard's mom herself approached to Dion and told him "son, you got soul!".
Dion said Little Richard’s mom saw him in a hallway and asked if he was the man who sings “Ruby Baby” and he said yes and she told Dion he had SOUL
Dion is a great singer! He had big hits with ABRAHAM, MARTIN & JOHN and SUPERMAN.
Runaround Sue 1961, and yes one of my favorite songs that year and I was 13 years old.

Runaround Sue, Ruby Baby!!

'Runaround Sue' is great too. The Wanderer always reminds me of 'Duke of Earl' by Gene Chandler.
There must be an old compilation album out there where Duke of Earl comes right after The Wanderer, because I always connect those songs too lol
Runaround Sue was so named for Dion's wife, whom he would marry a few years later. By the way, they are still together today.
Runaround Sue is my favorite, just love how he can go from a very soft voice to very raw.
