At this point you're my master in smd components, and how to checking circuits. If my master make a mistake (because it's human) I get more self confident because an error could happen to anyone. And I committed a lot of mistakes. Thanks for your videos, and your knowledge.
At least you left the mistake in, many others would have edited it out. Easily done as many IC manufacturers are now putting white dots in one corner and recessed circles in the opposite corner. Thought you were going to break into song, quickly, a little bit of flux, a little bit of a new chip, a little bit of power management's all I need.
I have the same laptop, its amazing but recently it died in similar way. (Not taking charge, not booting from battery, just plain dead). I'm no electronics expert (I don't have these tools either, not even the multimeter) and I can't find a shop that's willing to find th IC thats causing the issue. It sucks that I want this to work. But stuck. Thanks for making this and other videos, It gives me hopes someone will be able to help with this.
Hii I. My hp victus laptop is working but showing 3f0 error bios currpated and then 2 days later laptop not charging but laptop working and on until battery is dead. I go to the repair shop they said me to we have to replace the ic so what should I do replace the ic or not I replace the ic my laptop work . Please answer the question
Thank you for this. Came just at the right time in my suggested videos. I have one Dell here with similar issue. Coming on with battery but not coming on with the charger. But for this one the main power rail is available, but there is no 3.3v. And checking the Power chip, Adapter voltage goes in and is detected also but the ACOK pin is 0v. I'm yet to find the replacement chip to change and be certain.
I soldered an AS15-F chip the wrong way around not once, but twice in the same session ! I noticed it the first time and flipped it around 90 degrees - guess what: it was STILL wrong ! :)) Thankfully I noticed it in time and didn't actually put the T-con back in the TV to try it out :)))
pin no 4 must be 26v, gate output. The other part of the chip is related with the charging the battery, but on that point my concern was the input part, no point checking the rest
I didn't know that on desktop PCs the little triangles on both the microprocessor body and the metal frame had to match up. Imagine how many I fixed then (I was a beginner😊). On philips TVs at least twice I soldered the TDA9377... 64-pin IC called "jungle" upside down and it took hours or days until I realized it. All the best.
Love those videos, learned so much with you. I have a lenovo thinkpad e15 with a power mosfet e120gn that is burning hot that it disolder itself, i resoldered it to see if the laptop start charging the battery and it did but the mosfet starts to burn hot and do some smoke so its time to change it, where do you get your mosfets? Oh and have other laptop the same model that only starts if i press the cpu, so i think it some cold solder balls, should i do some heat on the CPU? What do you recommend? Thanks
@hed190: RQ3E120GNTB (ROHM semic) very cheap in mouser electr For your second question: keep in mind that the PCB is multilayer, so start preheat below with 350 celsius and 50% airflow for (3.5- 4) minutes, immediately increase the temperature 480 celsius and 40% air for (1.5 - 2.5) minutes and repeat this last time for the upper part (body of the device) monitoring the temperature throughout the process (hand fingers). Of course, previously protected with kapton tape and adheres pieces of aluminum on the components in the surrounding areas. Good luck. All the best.
Friend of mine who is a car mechanic was doing a timing belt job. After putting everything back together he realised that brand new belt is lying on the table so what happened? He removed and put on the same belt😂
yeah, that's me changing UPS batteries, there are 2 batteries I change of the battery and forget the other one putting back everything and just to realised, what the hell the new battery is on the table 🤣
hello, i got the same laptop with the same fault, i waked with the video step by step, but i got 26 volts on pin 4 of the BQ chip, do that mean the BQ chip is fine?
Hey a question for the community, i just had my victus 16 cleaned out (they removed dust from fans) and i asked them to check the heat sink thermal paste since i was having overheating problems. They said it was fine but when i took it home the laptop would not charge when i plugged in the charger and it shut off completely at 8% battery and then it wouldnt show any lights and i took it back to the shop and they said they assume the motherboard needed to be replaced. Any information or advice is appreciated thank you
Dear Sir, Can you tell me what is AT002T6F component does in a laptop and where can i buy it? My laptop is HP victus. Also need schematic of this iC aswell as Mother board please
I have the same laptop 16,1 (variant with i7-12700h Alder Lake CPU and RTX3060 6GB VRAM). I have bought the new display panel for it - WQHD 165hz - compatible, HP mentioned of it on their service manual, but I can't buy the display panel adhesive kit. The oryginal charger is WAY WAY bigger and stronger than the client brought to You - model M31368-002 of 200W.

I've done that so many times after getting interrupted. Props to Sorin, it's hard to keep focus when trying to keep things in frame and talk and work all at the same time.
hello; mr sorin I have the exact same laptop series, I found it very neat since HP took the time to make all kinds of oem service videos on their www.youtube.com/@HPSupport official channel, everything is neat put and well fit together. I only had one problem after replacing the thermal putty with thermal pads, I used too tall ones at first, second time used 0.5 and had full contact. hopefully will never run into this problem but I doubt since the battery cannot be bypassed and it's in use all the time and without it the entry mobile 3050ti is weak af, with power it gets decent. GOOD WORK, best wishes! paste fericit!
No, u are not the only one. The biggest mistake is if u solder the damage (same) chip Back, and then you act like a fool and don't understand anything...
Sorin, you're getting old. The moment you soldered that chip, I wanted to say the chip is in wrong position. In my experience.. I take a photo before removing a chip so that I can verify the exact position before soldering back a new replacement chip.
3 videos from Sorin in one day!
Great 13th day of april :)
That is not a laptop. That is a heater! Great job Sorin.
Im have definitely put a chip on wrong before! Some people may not admit their mistakes but me and you arent afraid to! Love your work
Thank you Sorin. For this basics of checking the power.

Lovely fix thanks Sorin
Friday; got a beer, got some snacks, time to relax with some good edutainment. Cheers!
Could you have used low melt solder for lower temperature in desoldering the chip? I also always make a mark on the board for pin1 ...

I never solder them in wrong position but I do have the same issues you were having with the chip not budging even with high temps
Love to see you doing it your way. And it works fine with the right charger 🔌 and replaced chip 🍟
I cant believe!! What happened to “we don’t care why theres no voltage on the gate” just solder a calibrated fuse lol😂 love your content sorin 👍
i'm getting old :D
Its good that you’re going deeper into the repair as we are learning more from you but i miss the dodgy jobs
@electronicsrepairschool, where can i find this power management chip for my Hp Victus 16", please?
That big cooling pad under the chip was doing a perfect job.
@13:19 - you check 3 pins on the chip and knowns that it is bad, how ?
pin 28 = 19v
pin 4 = 0v
ping 6 = 2.5v
what should have been on pin 4 ?
you replace the chip, but did not show what value the tested pins should have ?
pin no 4 must be 26v, gate output. The other part of the chip is related with the charging the battery, but on that point my concern was the input part, no point checking the rest

26 is very high for the gate of MOSFET.

interesting repair more power sorin
I have a question .Can we bridge the input mosfet as usual to make the laptop work ?
can you make a video about reading schematic of ic and what voltages need to generate the gate output

Why would an IC - in this case Power management - fails if by design Voltages and Amps are all as per manufacturer specs ? Planned obsolescence ?

it could be the weaker adapter?

How do I turn my hp victus on without the power button? It doesn’t work anymore .
