Now, with Gosalyn, Taurus Bulba, and Waddleneck being introduced, it looks like Darkwing Duck may be spinning off into his own series, but what exactly would that look like?

I think it's cool that they actually brought Darkwing Duck into the DuckTales plot. Eversince seeing Launchpad in both shows in the 90s, I always wondered how it would go with the chemistry between the cast. I agree that like how Timone and Pumba got their own show, DWD deserves a reboot. But as long as he's featured in future episodes, I will have more appreciation for the series. ESPECIALLY when they have a waited episode between Darkwing Duck and Gizmo-Duck. I can see them clashing similar to Avengers Civil War.

@ 3:07 - The old actor in this reboot was named Jim Starling, and voiced by Jim Cummings (original voice for Darkwing Duck and Negaduck). They have a new actor for Drake Mallard, but Jim Cummings will return when Negaduck finds his way out of the sewers and begins making trouble.

I'm mostly just hoping we eventually get a crossover where the original Darkwing Duck from the 90s and the current one. I mean they introduced inter-dimensional travel, it could totally happen and be a way to wrap up the original Darkwing.
Now that would be freaking awesome.
I truly believe the lack of Gosalyne and Lauchpad was intentional, while the original show focused on DD having a family, we see a lonely DD fighting crime in their universe. In the original show the characters function as the main reason why Darkwing fights crime and keep him grounded. So Jim becoming Negaduck in Ducktales makes so much sense, because he never had any of that
A Darkwing Duck reboot would be awesome. I’d definitely watch. DWD was one of the shows I grew up with as a kid and I’d like to see future generations introduced to the terror that flaps in the night.
gotta say, well aware that I'm gonna piss of the majority of og-series fans, the Ducktales reboot managed to re-imagine the series for a modern audience AND still be respectful to the old series. this is such a rare thing where i can only express deepest respect to the creators and hope the keep this up for a looooong time and I'd be curious to see how a spinoff would work out.
I'm leaning towards Gosalyn never getting her happy reunion with her grandfather & her accepting Drake as her father but that's just me, it's something from the original series I really grabbed onto, I always loved that Drake adopted Gosalyn because being adopted myself, it makes me happy seeing someone else adopted on TV. Found family is a more common thing these days & isn't needed but it hit very deep in the reboot when Gosalyn said to Darkwing "you're not my family" because I love their father/daughter relationship in the original series. The reboot is more true to real life, most cases a kid wouldn't be so quick to accept an adoptive parent as their parent & that's something that did cause a little itch with me in the original series that Gosalyn was so quick to call Drake dad, that sort of thing takes time but the structure of the show back then is different, had to be more of an episodic series because it was harder to watch things in order, plus the airing of the series is extremely difficult to follow, you need someone who has seen the whole series to put it in order for you. I wrote out a list of the episodes in order for understanding parts of the series back in 2010 but I lost that list long time ago. My point being is back then, they couldn't make the room to build up a father/daughter relationship, just had to build their bond in Darkly Dawns the Duck then call it there, with the reboot however, Gosalyn can take the time to accept that she may never get her grandpa back & that Drake is now her father & time for Drake to get use to being a parent as apposed to suddenly have parenting skills in the original series. There's a lot of potential here & having her reunite with her grandpa could ruin things but I suppose we'll see, I trust them with handling the series.

@The Conundrum Too bad they didn't go with Tim Curry as Bulba. DW came out when I was 11 and at that point, I was becoming a raging Star Trek fan. Bulba reminded me of Locutus...
@The Conundrum You're talking to someone who remembers watching DuckTales (1987) in its first run as well as Darkwing Duck. Since we saw Bulba in the original universe in jail with his hired goons, my impression of him might be a bit colored. Like you, I adore how the reboots have updated the characters. I love what they've done for the female characters of the show, particularly.
What Surprised me was F.O.W.L.'s reveal to the The Duck Clan. It was too soon, but an OK kickoff. Other than that I'M TOTALLY IN FOR A SPINOFF!!
On the bright side the bad guys this season isn’t going to be a near finale surprise for the Duck family this time, unlike the previous seasons.

True. Plus it would be very smart on Disney's part to allow it to happen, as they need another win right now. Shared universes are all the rage right now. If anyone knows that, it should be Disney, as the MCU made them billions upon billions of dollars with their shared universe concept. Ducktales has a great opportunity to create another shared universe for them. Plus, superhero TV shows and movies are all the rage as well, so Darkwing Duck is ripe for another reboot series as well.
The right people connected to Ducktales, working on it, who really understand the material- tried to pitch the Darkwing Duck series which could spinoff directly from Ducktales... but it was declined.
They said they might still do a Darkwing Duck reboot but they won't use that team. If they made it, it would need to be oddly unrelated to this Ducktales.

Since they introduced Salego hopefully he will be Season 4s / The Series final big bad which could end the show with a multipart crossover finale with all the 2017 versions of The Disney Afternoon (Ducktales, Darkwing, Goof Troop, Tailspin, Rescue Rangers, Gummy Bears, Mighty Ducks, Bonkers,etc.)
But before we get more Disney Afternoon reboots, we have to know if this is or isn't the final season of DuckTales.
if they made a new Darkwing, would love for them to re-imagine the villains like other demented people taking on the persona of a classic villain.

You are right, the Darkwing Duck reboot was an April Fool's prank in 2015 before becoming the Disney+ original we know now.

Unpopular opinion: I want a gizmo duck spin off as well.
One of the few parts I didn’t like about the season 3 special, is that the members of the Fearsome 5 (or 4 in this case) were sent back to their own dimension at the end. Also, the new Darkwing Duck doesn’t have his gas-gun and thunder-quack jet yet.
I hope there is a Darkwing reboot that would be so awesome! Im also surprised that Ducktales doesnt have as many views as other shows because it is a great show.

here's one more thing, the series acknowledged The Justice Ducks as a team from the series so what about Gizmo Duck? If he's real who was on The Justice Ducks if not Gizmo Duck? also jambalaya jake is a canon fictional character.
I just assumed it was with different fictional members. It’s hard to keep in mind but just because there are similarities they have made clear the show we watched and the show that launchpad and drake watched are different
Someone else took his place probably; another fictional superhero. Either that or there simply wasn't another member. The villains in this episode called themselves the Fearsome Four, so perhaps in this version of the show there wasn't a Negaduck stand in and it was the four of them who came together and formed the Fearsome Four. Would explain why only the four of them came through and not 5 villains.

@@santosic oh definitely. just saying there were times they used four. Theyre not going to be wholly consistent with our version: there was no taurus bulba, gosalyn, or negaduck. theyre just using same titles and references for cool easter eggs.

The vast majority of their viewership for this series doesn't come from traditional television and the ratings they get, it comes from online streaming. Disney understands this considering that they launched the original Ducktales pilot on their UA-cam channel and have done the same thing with Let's Get Dangerous (which considering their youtube channel only posts promotional episodes and pilots, it clearly indicates that this is indeed meant to be a backdoor pilot episode).
I will be so happy if we get a reboot.

Someone involved with the show said Nega Duck wouldn't appear in season 3 so either were getting another season or he's gonna appear in a Darkwing Duck Reboot
i just hope they don't milk the show i could see them pumping out another season since 2 seasons were planned before the first episode aired so the writers plan in advance

Mighty ducks was a failure so they probably want to forget about that show.

I really want a tailspin reboot
I hope it’s tied into the ducktales reboot so we see Jim sterling/negaduck. They could keep Taurus Bulba and Steelbeak and add phantom blot, and maybe have that Megavolt that look like Tom hardy bane. They could have him getting revenge on drake mallard for him going bankrupt after the Darkwing movie was canceled and believing he really is megavolt.
I grew up with the 90's it's clear the industry has nothing better to do and lost it's creativity by rebooting/remaking everything nostalgic and 9/10 the remake sucks.. I kinda wondered what it would be like to have a crossover with Darkwing Duck and Earthworm Jim. That would be fun.

I want someone to actually go through darkwing duck and see how many episodes the in show darkwing would have you'd have to cut out all episodes with characters that show up in ducktales (XP excluding Launchpad and Gozelen because they're main characters in the og show so the answer would be 0 XD) so basically removing any episode with Steel Beak, Taurus Bulba, Gizmoduck, F.O.W.L, S.H.U.S.H., etc and see how many were left with, tho you'd also have to add back on the episodes mentioned in the show XP it's too much of a headache for me but I'm sure someone has the time to satisfy my curiosity XD
I hope DWD gets its own show. I'd love to see Frank Angones would handle Morgana and the Muddlefoots.
Ducktales 2017 doesnt seems to know what to do with itself since the moon eps and this episode feels more poorly thought out fan service than pilot. Maybe they are retconing the idea that DWD was atv show because they certainly have some continuity issues. Not a fan of the new goslin..must all female ducklings be angsty webby type alpha females? Why were the 3 bad guys from the alt dimension competely faithful but the plant dude was monocolor and voiceless? Could they not get the voice actor/rights? Old ducktales, especially the triplets, needed a art remake and modernization..not sure DWD or RR does. Those might be better as cartoony cartoons.

to be fair, i think with the rise of disney+, ducktales reboot might be more of a long burn. cable is beginning to die, but disney waits for the season to be completed before uploading it to disney+. I know, as i am one of the people waiting. I wonder if the ratings would be a bit better if they uploaded the series as it aired. Even a week long delay to keep the network's hype might help the numbers more than such a long wait for those people who have dropped or are staring to drop cable.
Disney+ is making things rather weird for certain Disney shows lately. First Amphibia had to breeze through its season 1 episodes presumably due to Disney wanting that show to be ready for Disney+, then Milo Murphy’s Law is in an unknown state due to the crew working on the new Phinies and Ferb movie.
I can't wait till Nega-Duck shows up.

I really hope it gets rebooted. Ive always been a huge DW fan. Would like to see it done and have some cross over stuff occasionally with DuckTales. Even if that series is done. Also really enjoyed the Bonkers cameo in the "Lets get dangerous" episode. Use to watch that show to...not as much as DWD or DT (TOS) but still enjoyed it. Oddly I for some reason remembered its theme song better than DT theme.

YUP I loved the redesigns for them myself.
Would love to see them do the same for Rescue Rangers too.
But have it tie into the Ducktales 2017 Universe instead of the OG universe.
Rebooting any human character from the OG series as animals instead to fit the universe.
Could even have an interesting crossover episode that brings back the Ducktales cast, having them ending up in Gyro's Lab to try to get help on some more scientific need.
Ironically enough at the same time, Gyro finishes work on a universal translator which the Rangers get picked up on while there. *Gyro starts to assume he's hearing voices at first*

It actually did. It even superceded it's normal episode run back in the 90's. They pushed more episodes out of it because it was received so well. After its last few episodes push, that's when Disney stopped production, because the popularity of the show started to dwindle over time, just like anything else. I would say if anything, it may have been short lived, but it definitely did "work".
Are you nuts? It got 91eposides whit three seasons. How the hell is That not working? That and duck tales are the only Disney afternoon shows to have more then 70 episodes in there run. And if show was a failure then why they been trying to make a new one for years? Disney is the problem. I don't know where you getting your information from but it made you stupid.
@@geraldinep.3287 Short live? People still love darkwing duck. Fans been wanting for a new show for years but Disney don't want to pull trigger. It just that in the 90s There were so many great cartoons were made in that era. By the mid 90 so many move on from the Disney afternoon and darkwing duck due to not having anymore episodes being made. Although the last season was a disappointment. No fearsome five, no team up whit gizmo duck, negaduck and steel beak appearing in one episode while megavolt appear in too many episodes. It never change the fact people still remember DWD and hope someday he would return. Disney is the problem.
@@INFERNO95yes, it was short lived in the way that it only lasted a few years. But believe me, I'm with you, as far popularity goes. I love DW, and have since then. This episode was a great call back to the 90's, and to the future of further DW. I agree; Disney has a lot of issues that could be worked out much better than now. Unfortunately, that's what happens when financial hordes take over. They make it about money, and not quality. But they did great with this so far, and I'm hopeful of a revival, something that can introduce DW to this generation, that will love home just as much ad we did.
