- Episode one of HELPDIVERS. in this episode, I cover the ins & outs of the machine gun class of weapons. from the portable buzzsaw that is the stalwart to the misbegotten door stop that is the heavy machine gun, I cover it all in this concise guidance program.
Machine guns should naturally find themselves at the very top of all tier lists. This guide will act as your one stop tutorial to become the master of machine gunning.

My HMG strat versus bots: Always use fortified armor. Keep the default medium RPM setting. Click the trigger repeatedly, like a burst fire mode. Be crouched. Rarely hold the trigger, just click it faster when you are on target, and slower when you are off target.
This thing shreds devastators like no other. Praise be unto Arrowhead for giving us a reticle.
as a main HMG vs bots, my only failure is against berserkers.
I can't kill them using HMG, so I'm thinking using the revolver. just gotta get a few more super credits xd.
@@yawarapuyurak3271if you haven’t tried it, pair it with the Jar 5 Dominator. That thing is a stagger machine. 3-4 shots can delete berserkers.
I always use the lowest rpm because it's more controllable and helps conserve ammo. Also, the daka daka sound it makes is so satisfying.

Hell yeah someone that understands that watching the tracers is how you use a machine gun, HMG is so underrated, though it would be nice if it got a better sight with better zoom (and an accurate reticle)

New explosive rifle + Stalwart = bliss
Edit: I swapped the Stalwart for the HMG since they improved it slightly, seems to be doing well. Can also go for the Sickle+Autocannon meta
Dominator also good for this combo
Hey thats my meta as well, verses the bugs only, with the bots I think the MG43 is the better pair since the devastators go down quicker to it.
@rokinz3270 I ended up just using the Sickle and Quasar, although haven't played since the new update so may just use the Autocannon again since automatons seem to survive anyway when you shoot the dropships down.
Stalwart is ass on Helldive diff because of the ungodly amount of brood commanders and hive guards. The MG-43 may be the way to go if you can work around the stationary reload

We need a mission with diff9 number of enemies but without the armoured ones, so we can just spray and pray to our hearts content
Was playing D8 corrupt termincide tower mission. Once we finished all the objectives, i found myself getting stuck behind a sea of light armor bugs and somehow they overrun my mech. It was rad af to see my bullet runs out of bullets and somehow they just keep pushing through it.
the fact the stalwart fires as fast as the gatling turret is too fun to ignore

Hmg has a weird learning curve but once you get the hang of it, it works wonders

Machine guns that immobilize you to reload should have a team reload mechanic that that allows you to blow all the ammo down range without a reloading animation.
I am curious how the stylization of your videos would effect it's algorithmic performance. This video was amazing and I feel like the compression and analog effects would hamper it's outreach.
Id be curious too, the last one in the same style managed to do numbers but also had a really slow start, this one has done faster initially but well still have to see where it ends up. at the end of the day, im more interested in making a library of videos I think are cool, not too concerned if they blow up or not
@@lohue9029 Totally valid. I don't think the pursuit of success makes good art. Your stuff is great! I do think you should reduce the opacity of the scan lines for a little bit of visibility, but its up to you.

We just need a light MG as a primary that functions as a bridge between standard arms and support weapon.
I think we all would love this, but it looks like Arrowhead is trying their best to make primaries just functional enough to provide utility without being awesome. I think we'd all take the Stalwart every match yea?

i really appreciate the format you chose for the video. really makes it unique amongst other videos. makes me feel as though im watching a VHS tape of self help financial advice.
The stalwart is the single most versatile weapon in the game, and more people need to see that. Support to explosives? Stalwart. Simple bulletmaxxing? Stalwart. Compliment to a laser weapon? Stalwart. Almost every build? Stalwart.
Except anti armor lol!

I find the Stalwart invaluable against bugs. Obviously armored targets can be a problem, but not as much of a problem as a group of hunters. The Stalwart mows them down quite effectively and being able to reload on the move is a life saver.

great video, really needed the advice for the HMG, makes a lot of sense to bring the supply pack. Ive been saying they should make the HMG backpack fed and not require reloading, the recoil alone is more than enough to balance such a change.

I'm lvl 148 now, always been a Machine Gun enjoyer, played A LOT of MG43 with Scorcher, and since the MG206 came out, I've been RELIGIOUSLY playing it, I'm not a solo-player but I was still able to finish 1-2 bug helldive solos with it. I'm aware the general consensus of the MG-206, but honestly once you get used to it and become aware of the current issue with the sight misallignment and etc. it's a solid anti-elite pick for MG-lovers.
I usually save the ammo to kill Hive Guards, Commanders, Bile Spewers and occasionally burst down Charger's butt in 25 shots quickly with stun grenades. Occasionally it's also very nice to kill clear a horde if push comes to shove, but obviously it's not its main purpose if anything. It can also be nice to destory Shrieker's nest from afar too, and occasionally kill/finish off a Bile Titan if you ran out of eagles/orbitals.
Take a good chaff-clearing primary with the MG206 and it's a pretty damn solid loadout, at least for people who are willing to put the time into it. I usually take Defender with MG206, cuz it's nice to kill groups of Hunters on-the-move with the one-handed SMG trait. I also have to use a crosshair program to help with 3rd person aiming too xD.
base assault rifle, mg206, stuns & revolver will always be my favourite loadout. might even make a video as a tribute

Some Maximum MG loadouts I've played with:
1. MG43, Heavy MG, Backpack, Gatling/MG Turret, Stratagem cooldown booster
2. Gunner Guard Dog, Stalwart, Heavy MG, MG Turret, max ammo booster
3. MG43, Stalwart, Heavy MG, Backpack, Stratagem cooldown booster
Remember that being shot at or bitten at might ptevent you from shooting at and biting at the enemy. So manouver yourselph away from the enemy and a fellow helldiver towards them so you can shoot at it while they bite at it.
I don't know what I expected to gain out of this video. Good to know there are like-minded people that can see all these weapons for what they're truly worth: lots of bullets, down range, in the enemies

I had an idea for a new backpack stratagem dedicated to enhancing the viability of machine guns a few days ago. Basically it would look just like the Onslaught system on the Heavy Gunner’s back in Synthetic 2, a big horizontal cylinder of ammo with a belt feed hanging out one side. Call it in, grab your machine gun of choice, and hook it up. Your machine gun now has double the reserve ammo and no longer needs to be reloaded, BUT your movement speed is reduced by 10%, you consume stamina 20% faster, it regenerates 20% slower, and the machine gun now runs on heat management. From 0% to 80% heat, you’re in the clear. From 81%- 90%, you have a 5% chance to jam the weapon. From 91% to 100%, you have a 10% chance to jam the weapon, at which point the weapon will not fire until you mash your reload key to clear the jam, and needing to do so with the HMG will leave you stationary because of the sheer size and weight of the weapon. And when you pick up ammo, it doesn’t automatically teleport into your backpack. You will have to hold your backpack function key to gradually load the acquired ammo into the backpack, where your character actually kneels down, takes the pack off, opens it up and stuffs ammo in there.
Designed to be cumbersome yet powerful, as is only right for machine guns. Incentivizes making sure you’re prepared for an encounter, allows you to sweep hordes off boards without a stationary reload getting you killed, so your team can handle the 4 or 5 hard targets without getting swamped.
It would also allow the Supply Pack to maintain its current niche. Most machine gunner players in HD2 run supply pack to almost exclusively feed their machine guns due to low reserve ammo. Refilling support weapons is only one of the 5 functions a supply pack can perform. It refills stims, grenades, primary ammo, and secondary ammo in addition to supports. So when you’re using it pretty much entirely to feed your machine gun, when you don’t need anything else, you’re kinda wasting your supply pack charges, because they are multi-purpose. A Helldivers version of the Onslaught system would be perfect to give machine gunners what they need while allowing the Supply pack to continue doing its thing.
Overall stalwart and MG for bugs and the MG and HMG for bots.
The HMG is great option for dealing with striders punching right through their frontal armor and the medium sized bots go down real quick. And yeah it’s more of a precision tool meant for dealing with some of the enemies that are tough enough to take a good amount of damage but using a explosive weapon would be overkill.

Eruptor + stalwart is my go too, but the new smg is pretty good too with the rounds that stun enemies. But i always have the stalwart set at 1100rpm.

I love running the normal MG on the max fire rate with the supply backpack and the plasma gun. I am also very surprised about all the things you can actually hurt with the normal machine gun.
Thank you for clarifying that the Heavy Machine gun is in fact measurably heavier than the Machine Gun that is not heavy.

Stalwart: Great and lightweight, you can max the FR to become a monster to your foes.
MG: This weapon can easily shred- hold on give me a moment.
Heavy MG: what tf is strategy
I run the stalwart on low rate of fire because it makes it extremely controllable allowing me to get more rounds on target.

A bit of extra advice: Fire in bursts at weaker enemies. Makes the belts last longer
I still find the LMG to be my favorite. I like the stalwart but having so much ammo and being able to DESTROY medium bugs is great.
I still think I prefer recoiless rifle or spear for bots but the LMG is goated for bugs
for the algo. plus venom dunking on parker is diabolical.
I'm still trying new load outs it's a really fun journey

A machine gunner who knows his business can keep swarms off of you while everyone else can focus on their anti-armor specializations. While the Stalwart can be taken as far as Helldive with bugs, the regular machine gun is recommended for both bugs and bots. Anyone who is accurate and conservative with the ammo on a heavy machine gun is worth their weight in super credits as they can eliminate almost everything in the game. Yes, even a bile titan is no match as it can not only blow out the bottom of the thorax but delete it entirely causing the titan to die. This also includes automaton Striders as the HMG can take out the chin guns but also destroy it by hitting the soft spot in the face on the left side. But even a regular machine gun can with its medium armor piercing can eliminate a hulk.
I promise you if blitzer and arc thrower didn’t exist, I wouldn’t be able to put machine guns down
