Thank you to the person who made this video. My father who you see in this video passed away in 2020. He worked from a young kid for over 50 years on the Railway. We miss him dearly and I'm sure he would be very proud to see himself at work.Thank you again.

What a superb record. At this period I was commuting regularly from Greenfield to Manchester Victoria and passed this location virtually daily. These films bring it ALL back.
fantastic mate, enjoyed every second. used to have the oil from stanlow rumble past my house at all hours.not any more. just passenger EMU service liverpool to chester. very sad for me having seen the changes over the last 45 years.
Wow this vid really is a splendid capture of the workings of 1990/1. I have watched this many times. And theres some lovely Stanlow oil traffic, 2 services of which the 47 were booked to be piloted by a 37 (from small IM FPBC fleet, seen at 38mins) as far as Castleford i think, on the heavier loaded Leeds and Jarrow services. Great stuff thanks for filming this back then eh.
Nice one John, Excellent video mate...bet it was well great back then..just about everything to be seen there....all the great ole classics..!!! ~ bet for one, its nothing like this now though mate.....probly just units & 66 's...!!! ~ really did enjoy it mate..""" .
Wow top stuff John, proper good viewing that was of when the railway was real and the freight was a good mixed bag of everything with classic traction up front:) love the Buxton 37/5's on stone i model them an love seeing anything which has come from Peak Forest / Tunstead, keep em coming anyway think i'll watch it a 3rd time now ;-)
Thank you for sharing. I'm currently modeling the era. A similar fictional scenario around Lancashire Yorkshire border. Excellent research material. Given me next project material for my layout. Several rakes of grotty Mk1 coaching stock in heavily weathered NSE livery hauld by 37/8. Thank you.
Wow great vid, those oil trains looked heavy and reminded me of when they used to go through chinley on their way up the hope valley line in particular one evening I remember a pair of class forty’s absolutely flat out engines screaming at just above walking pace ! Wether they got to their destination without help I will never know! And even today you can see most types of Locos in this film still hard at work on various duties !

Hi John, I started my railway career 11/07/77 Monday morning 09.00 @ the signal box.
What a superb record. At this period I was commuting regularly from Greenfield to Manchester Victoria and passed this location virtually daily. These films bring it ALL back.
I'm really glad somebody somebody filmed this, I still pass here every day, I photo'd so much of the Castleton weld traffic.
Every time I watch this it gets better 👏🏻👍

Superb from days long gone thank you
Amazing how the railway scene round Manchester has changed. Thanks for the memories John.
wow this is the best train freight video ever well done to you man xxxx
I enjoyed that, took me back to my days as as a railwayman.
Wow! What a variety of classic locos and liveries!
An excellent video capturing that period. Really enjoyed watching.
At 13:10 the second MK1 appears to still be on the dreaded BR1 bogie. Surprised they lasted as long as 1990!
A time warp! Brilliant and i love the Queen t shirt!
Thanks, what other shirts would a signalman wear :o)
Brilliant video John. Really enjoyed.

6E18 Was Stanlow to Jarrow, when I worked those Trains in late 1980s early 1990s
23:24 Double-Duffs, flat-out on a very heavy train up the bank! 🚂👍
4:32 Sign says "Goods trains must stop here to pin down brakes". No kidding as it's a steep bank, even though few modern trains woud require this.
Great super stuff, please say you have more to upload
Wonderful stuff, John - shows just how much has been lost over the years, including a much more flexible track layout, eh.
magnifique....on aime.... merci
11:32, definitely 37676 on front, not 671 at the rear though, was a Laira one, 677 maybe?
Cracking vid, thankfully the sound of 37's is not quite gone from these parts as were very near a DRS yard!
R.I.P. John.
Fantastic, thanx for uploading, really enjoyed!!!!
Thanks :o)
Very rare footage of 37886 working round the Oldham Loop!
Manchester-Vic to Blackpool, via Rochdale.......who thought THAT one up?
What did the "Green /Red" carriages signify?
The red and green coaches were a privately owned railtour set and they belonged to Pilkington Glass. Their logo can be seen on each of the coaches.
Thanks.
Is this line electrified now?
lol the sound from Spotlight De-Lite by Lana Del Rey came from it?
2.40 what a pointless working? why? you don't jobs like that nowadays!
Fantastic, thanx for uploading, really enjoyed!!!!
Thanks :o)
