you guys should check out A Question of Heaven by Iced Earth!
Thats a must
I stopped asking at around 150 attempts..lol
Such a beautiful song.
absolute must!
They need To check Dracula and travel in stygian with matt too!!!
Do Demons and Wizards - Fiddler on the green
Yes. This song is incredible. A real tear jerker.
Goodness, PLEASE! That's my favorite song . I have a tattoo on my back of that artwork.
I agree, also My Last Sunrise
Matthew barlow is my favorite singer of all time. Dude is a legend. best voice i have ever heard and only male voice capable of bringing a tear to my eye. Not only that but hes now police officer which makes his cool points go up. Ashes of ares is a different style than iced earth and is equally bad ass. This is my hell, chalice of man are both amazing songs. Super stoked for this interview and glad u guys are listening to more matt. thanks for producing wonderful content i always look forward to wathcing after work
Iced Earth "Watching Over Me"
Vin, in the interview I wouldn't be asking Mr Barlow about his time in Judas Priest, 'cos that was the other singer (Ripper Owens) who was in Judas Priest. Don't want to offend the guest!
true that. Vin is a pro though, I suspect he will do some research before the interview.
Ahhhhhh! Another Iced Earth song! After this particular song, it only makes sense for the next one to be about the other side of the coin. Make "Damien" your next song by the band. ;)
well technically speaking My Own Savior would be the other side of the coin to this song. But I get what you are saying. The Horror Show record is just so good. By far the best lineup they ever had.
If your gonna go the Damien/Omen route, check out the Something Wicked trilogy, The Coming Curse is my favorite Iced Earth song, "Mankind falls, something wicked comes"
Next Iced Earth should be Ghosts of Freedom.
@@khellendross3573 My own savior is my favorite song from Iced Earth. fuckin amazing
From Iced Earth, try Pure Evil, A Question of Heaven or Dracula. Cheers!
PS: if you do a live video reaction from them, I recommend any from "Alive in Athens" ( the same from Dante's inferno)
When the Night Falls - Alive in Athens
Dracula!, yeeah!!
Let's simplify, from this show, they should react to all songs...
i was in that concert man my first concert ever!!!!
The second was Blind Guardian and the third was Grave Digger!!!
I really enjoy feeling like I’m spending time with you guys. Thank you.
From Iced Earth I have several recommendations:
- A Question of Heaven
- Damien
- Dracula
- Dante's Inferno
They've listened to Dante's Inferno already.
@@ArdensSedVirens1 Hum... When?
@@theprophecy11 Type in "Vinand Sori Iced Earth" on UA-cam and you'll find your answer.
Prophecy
Birth of The Wicked
Coming Curse
Gettysburg trilogy
Woo, love Iced Earth! Perhaps some Blind Guardian or Demons and Wizards?
Seconded on both Blind Guardian and Demons and Wizards. Please
Valhalla !! Live version.
1 minute in, they said that they were in contact with Matthew Barlow... My eyes got WIDE and I smashed that like button without hesitation.
Lol!!
I think I tagged Barlow with the twitter link and he responded.
That is awesome. Still one of my favorite singers of all time. The perfect balance of power and range. I love his performance on the Alive in Athens version of Blessed Are You. I get chills just thinking about it.
Matt mentioned it on his facebook as well. A great guy with amazing voice. Defenitely try A Question of Heaven next
@@alxnf I have been requesting the whole Suffering trilogy for a little while now, but definitely A Question of Heaven. I like the studio version best... That spine chilling note he hits... ooh
”The birth of Abigail would soon be realized. The second coming of a devil in disguise”...
We need the full review of King Diamond’s Abigail album, right?
ICED EARTH - A Question of Heaven (studio) !!!!!
Yes please, not to bash IE live stuff, but man the studios are much better.
@@Drpavel564 Studios are always better. I love going to shows but nothing beats the quality of studio recordings
Have to disagree with you both. The Alive In Athens version blows the studio version away!
@@theicedevil The alive in athens is great, but i think that the studio version is more intense (:
It's never good when people listen to one song from a concept album.
Oh man that is awesome you're interviewing Matt can't wait to see that, it's not a request have a listen to Dracula from horror show album, God damn! Is all i'll say, rock on \m/
Iced Earth - Come What May!!!
Thanks for doing this. Iced Earth is definitely one of my favorites. Great job guys
Can you clean up the voting polls on the site? There are a handful of songs that have already been done and mainstage suggestions in the underground poll. Not sure if changing it from % to just total votes would be better but as of now voting for something only gives it 0.01% so its going to take 100 votes just to get to 1%
Bathory - Oden's Ride Over Nordland/A Fine Day To Die
great choice
Lake of fire...
Opeth - Demon of the Fall!!
More Iced Earth
It's about Jesus in the garden when he was praying
Iced Earth - Valley forge with legendary Tim Ripper Owens
Barlow it's the greatest voice of all time. Check out 'Dracula' and 'A Question of Heaven' in that same show.
I saw Iced Earth with Barlow in Madrid supporting Blind Guardian... May be 98. Great vocalist, but the new one is really good. Was the singer of Into Eternity. A very good band
Blind Guardian - Imagination From The Other Side
Iced Earth is an amazing band!!! This is an amazing song. I love every era and every singer that has been in the band. Matt Barlow will always be the classic singer, but I do love Stu Block also. Some other great songs are Gettysburg Trilogy, Something Wicked Trilogy, Dracula, Angel's Holocaust, Question Of Heaven, Dystopia, , Violate, 10,000 Strong, and Stormrider. That is just a few of their amazing songs. This band for the most part has amazing songs on every album and very little filler with the exception of Crucible Of Man album in my opinion. I have seen this band many times in concert and they always deliver. I love that you guys have already reacted to two songs, and hopefully you will react to many more. This band should be much much bigger than they already are. Jon Schaffer is an amazing songwriter. Jon Schaffer is a huge history buff and has written many songs about history. He is very intelligent and his lyrics show it. He is the primary songwriter and basically he is Iced Earth. Iced Earth has been his baby since day one, and he is the only original member left in the band. Matt Barlow did not sing for Judas Priest. Tim Owens was in Judas Priest for a few years . Tim Owens sang on two Iced Earth albums The Glorious Burden and Framing Armageddon. Both are great albums, especially The Glorious Burden. Tim Owens has an amazing voice also.
damn i was really really surprised when i first heard stu singing.
couldn't ever imagine there would be a proper replacement for matt out there but damn ... stu proved me wrong.
My top 3 favorite songs of all time are all iced earth 1 Hold at All Costs 2 question of heaven 3 Dantes inferno. No matter how much metal i listen to iced earth will always be my favorite and nothing will ever top the emotions i feel when listening to there songs
@@Allmahr I agree with you. I was very impressed with Stu when I first heard the song Dystopia. He has done an amazing job on the three albums he has done. He is definitely the perfect replacement for Matt Barlow. I didn't think that it was possible.
@@zachthetrashpowerlifter1562 Absolutely!! Those songs are amazing and they always put me in a much better mood. That is exactly why I love Iced Earth so much. Their music is so powerful and I always get a natural high just by listening to their songs. They should be much much bigger than they already are. Last time I saw them was at a small club that holds about 1000 people, but they should be playing in arenas in my opinion.
@@johnkatsoudas4767 well i think its funny honestly. Everybody think Maiden is the best in this genre but and maiden gets all the attention. In my opinion iced earth is the best metal band and band of all time. Iced earth has much better composed songs and matt is a better singer. Sounds sacrilegious but i cant even put into words what these songs have done for me and how much i value them. Its always good to hear theres other people out there who value them as much as i do. Pretty bummed i never got to see barlow live tho. While i like stu i dont like his sound on the older songs. Dantes inferno is about the only one he does good. Doesnt have as much deepness as matt
I am actually shocked to not see more people draw parallel between Iced Earth and Blind Guardian. I would have expected to see a few requests. Oh well, at least I am under no illusion that metal heads are open minded..........
You know, I just rewatched this for the 3rd time. I’m so grateful I found this channel. Thanks again for posting.
Something Wicked is a great album. It was my introduction to Iced Earth and I've been a fan ever since
ARCH ENEMY - Vultures (Live in Tokyo 2008)
Angela, the metal queen that rules them all.
Please do Dracula or Travel in Stygian next! Or My own Saviour :) Nice with more Iced Earth. You can never get too much of Iced Earth.
Anthrax - Keep it in the Family, In My World, Indians, Inside Out and What Doesn't Die
Melvin Andrade Hopefully they will do one of the songs. 👍
INDIANS FOR THANKSGIVING
In Flames - Moonshield
I enjoy listening to you guys...I'm pretty much agnostic but I feel like going back to my Christian roots. Middle age crisis, I guess lol!! Happy to see your channel is groing quick. Till next time, take care!! L&R
Blind Guardian - Valhalla (Imaginations Through the Looking Glass)
Inquisition - Bloodshed Across the Empyrean Altar Beyond the Celestial Zenith.
Iced Earth - Damien
Paradise Lost - Faith Divides Us Death Unites Us
Hi guys great song and band, I like Pantera you like Pantera what about Pantera Wednesday, and you should really react to Blind Guardian - Valhalla, Mirror Mirror, Time Stands Still
Getting an interview with Matt Barlow is HUGE and will get a ton more metal fanatics to watch it because an interview with him is quite scarce ever since he became a full time police officer all those years ago.
Speaking of Jon Schaffer, hopefully you'll react to some Demons & Wizards soon. Down Where I Am is my request, but I feel like everyone else will say Fiddler on the Green and that's fine too.
Would prefer blood on my hands actually
An interview with a metal god
More Iced Earth. I see people requesting Damien... I'll second that.
Not Barlow but his successor Tim Owens was the singer in Judas Priest. After Barlow was fired by Iced Earth and Owens was fired by Judas Priest, Iced Earth hired Tim Owens to front Iced Earth.
Barlow quit....to become a cop
You don’t fire Barlow. He quit to join law enforcement after 9/11.
Yeah sorry to say he quit to become a cop. He is married to John's sister and is a brother to him so John would never fire him ever!
As the others said, Matt and Jon spoke when the his vocal tracks for The Glorious Burden weren't up to par and agreed that Matt needed to step away. In comes Ripper and it was Ripper that got fired ultimately.
As the others have said, It was really Barlow's choice. While I am sure Jon wasn't happy about it, he and Matt are like brothers and Matt came back to see an end to the Something Wicked storyline. Matt recently joined them on stage to sing Watching Over Me
I hope Bathory - A Fine Day To Die is on your radar. I see several people mentioning it...
Your headbanging is on point, kept in time with the pace and beat. Jolly good.
A Question of Heaven is a must. Studio version.
Dio - All the Fools Sailed Away
Iced Earth is one of our main influences!!! It would be a honor for us to be reviewed by you!!
Damn, I've been waiting for this one. Great song, an interesting view on the passion and crucifixion of Jesus. This is one of those songs where I'm really interested in your commentary. Do some Alcest next!
I am pretty sure this song isn't about Jesus. Rather, it is supposed to be about/for a good friend of Jon's that passed away from what I remember.
@@skeletankmcgraw7343 Uuuh, no dude, you're thinking of "Watching Over Me". This one is definitely about Jesus.
Make some Blind Guardian songs ( Mirror Mirror, Skalds & Shadows, The Bard's songs, Twilight Of God's )
Matt Barlow has been a police officer for many years. He sang with Danish progressive metal band Pyramaze on a couple of albums, rejoined Iced Earth for one album then left to do his day job. His side project Ashes Of Ares have just released their 2nd album
If you end up doing A Question of Heaven by Iced Earth just realize something... it's part 3 of a trilogy of songs and comes at the end of a concept album. So, context is kind of important. The album is based off of the comic book character Spawn. I like the song well enough, it's a great album, buy it's not even my favorite song off that album much less my favorite Iced Earth song. Bit for some reason, whenever Iced Earth is mentioned in reaction vids the comments get flooded with "Brah you have to do A Question of Heaven!"
I mean, I'm a huge Iced Earth fan and I'm like, um ok. Not my first choice. Or even second or third, but whatever
Yeah, that song has a definite "universal human values" quality, but the context does matter. In isolation, that track can totally give an unintended message. lol
This is one of my favorite songs by Iced Earth. Deep and emotional. You guys should check out more Iced Earth.
IE- Travel in Stygian (both versions with Greely & Barlow)
IE- A Question of Heaven
IE- The Coming Curse
IE- Dracula
Manowar - Guyana (Cult of the Damned)
I was thinking about Iced Earth songs in the shower and then you guys react to a song I was thinking of.
React to Damien by Iced Earth
and dracula!
@@Allmahr and phantom opera ghost and jack lol. Love that album
@@zachthetrashpowerlifter1562 same here lol^^
do Demons and Wizards!!! Blind Guardian and Iced Earth together!!
ICED EARTH - Dracula
You picked literally the best version too!!! I'm just watching it now because I had to close and open my store. But thank you guys so much I always wanted to get a Christians take on this. I know I've nagging the hell out of you for it (literally made my day). It also reminds me of the verse when he's up on the cross and asked "My father why have you forsaken me"
Barlow didnt sing for priest, Tim Owens sang for priest and also Iced Earth (after Barlow, but before the show in this video)
Iced Earth - A Question of Heaven
The 'original Iced Earth', Purgatory, is coming out with a new album pretty soon, there's one song here on youtube already. Gene Adams, the singer on the first Iced Earth album is the singer for the new Purgatory album, and he sounds better now than he did back in 1990.
Such an underrated band, seen them just the once, and they played nearly 3hrs fucking great live
You guys should check out Windir- Journey to the End, Ending, or Arntor Ein Windir.
Btw he left the band to join the police which is why he cut his hair. He wasn't in Judas Priest. Tim Owens who replaced Barlow (And was then replaced by Barlow) was in Priest.
Awesome!!So glad you did this song! Great review!Matt Barlow is a legend.
JUDAS PRIEST - Desert plains (Live in London REHEARSAL)
Tim actually sings that and diamonds and rust pretty damn good
@@hmpz36911 Actually, I think it's the best song on the DVD and it's not in the show!
Bolt Thrower - When Cannons Fade
Honourable mention to Bathory - A Fine Day To Die
this song Is awesome. listened to this a ton of times back in high school. thank you!
Cool! you guys actually did it! thanks guys!
Really coo song, thank you guys. It got a bit repetitive at times but the energy of Barlow and the instrumentation were kickass.
Please react to "Nothing Is Not" by Morbid Angel and "In Their Darkened Shrines" by Nile.
I don't know why everyone is requesting A Question of Heaven. Amazing song but It's from a concept album. I would do Dracula!
Dracula is off of Horror Show, another concept album whose songs are almost all based on horror movies. I love a Question of Heaven and I think it could stand on its own, though if they were up to it, I would suggest the whole Suffering trilogy. I feel that could definitely work. Also, Dracula is an awesome track.
@@FFVison true, but with horror show each song is based on a different story while The Dark Saga is based soley on Spawn. I think that song can work on its own for sure, I just think taking in that album all at once makes the experience so much better.
@@Galacticat_ Point taken. But that being said, I do think that The Suffering trilogy does pretty well standing on its own. There are many times that I have listened to just those 3 songs over and over.
An interview with Barlow? Heck yes👍
FINALLY some more (real era) Iced Earth! So happy to hear about you being in contact with Matt, too!
No way you're gonna talk to Matt Barlow? That is too awesome!! Iced Earth is one of the bands that meant the most to me throughout my life. Especially with Matt on vocals. Glad you're gonna listen to Ashes of Ares as well. Also, if you want a song that really shows Matt's vocal prowess you could listen to Dracula or the song Iced Earth from the same concert as this (Metal Camp 2008). Love you guys.
When the nights falls , pure Evil , nightmares and burning times are the best songs of iced Earth
Iced Earth were the first band I ever saw live, back in 2002 at Scala in London. Awesome. They played a 3 hour set or something ridiculous!
Jon Schaffer grew up in a christian home, alot of his songs have christian ties. You got to listen to all 3 Something Wicked Trilogy. Start with Prophecy, Birth of the Wicked, The Coming Curse(alive in athens) such great story telling!!
And one more thing; Tim Ripper Owens is the singer that worked with both Judas Priest and Iced Earth.
It wasn't Barlow that sang for Judas Priest. After Matt left, he was replaced by Tim "Ripper" Owens, who fronted Judas Priest right before joining Iced Earth.
Iced Earth - 'Anthem' with Stu Block! Another AMAZING singer.
THANK YOU you made my Holiday !!!!!
Iced Earth are an amazing band with top notch musicianship. Something Wicked This Way Comes is such a great album with actually no bad tracks in it but I think you should go with their trilogy in this album: The Prophecy, Birth of The Wicked and one of their best songs, THE COMING CURSE.
But if you wanna up the ante, just directly go for their ALIVE IN ATHENS live album(might be Travel In Stygian from that one especially). Timeless performance,
The song is Melancholy (Holy Martyr) from 'Something Wicked This Way Comes' album. This is the first Iced song I heard that I got emotional with. Yes, it's about Jesus. :)
14:42 another Christmas tradition you two should start, is listening to all the metal Christmas songs Theocracy has released :)
A Question of heaven Im sure Sori is gonna cry.
Sometimes I forget how awesome Iced Earth is..
Black Sabbath - After Forever Paleeeeeeeeeeeeeze! Thanks guys!
I liked the video when you said, "I've been in contact with Matt Barlow". Good job.
Thank you.
Im truly honored that I saw Barlows last show with Iced Earth on Wacken open Air 2011 :)
The song that turned me onto Iced Earth 20 years ago!! One of my all time fave bands!! great job guys!! Matt is the Man!!! Cant wait to hear this interview. \m/
One of the best american metal band with a voice from heaven & hell either!!!! Try Dracula too, a mesmerise experience!!!!
I know you guys love reacting to Cradle of Filth. Please try Bathory Aria
Matthew Barlow the singer is in a new band Ashes to Ares you might check them out , awesome , btw Matthew the singer is also a Police officer in Tampa FL
Iced Earth is my favorite band of all time! So happy you are covering them ^_^
A question of heaven by them next🤘🏻
You 2 are doing a good job...Thanks. :)
I love that song! Reminds me to my Metal youth back in 1998
