Dear Esther: Landmark Edition is a 2016 remaster of the 2012 remake of the 2008 free conversion mod. It was developed and published by The Chinese Room (Landmark Edition published by Secret Code). The game is a simple narrative exploration game that together with Gone Home led to the creation of the word walking simulator. Indeed, the gameplay in Dear Esther consists of walking through a pretty landscape while listening to audio logs.
