I've listened to Mark's music for 2 decades now, when Phil lays off the accordion and the vocals kick in, wow man. The unmistakable combination of Knopfler's voice and playing got me choked up. Absolutely unbelievable
What a great video, in youtube split in 3 parts, don't miss them. Two of my many favourite musicians joined in dialogue, music, reflection , life memories. Enjoyed immensely soothing my old age in time ol illness and hardship, thanks gor posting this gem.
Thanks for posting. I started out just wanting t o hear Mark's speaking voice, to compare it to his singing voice, but found this "interview" so interesting I listened to all 3 clips straight through.
@SpiritLevelBubble Mark studied journalism! :p love this docu. it indeed doesnt feel like a interview. iets more like a conversation between 2 friends that havent seen each other for a long time.
@AlexKeith7 - ;),, The Dire Straits book aren't overflowing, but you always have "Dire Straits" by M. Oldfield which doesn't cover the band's complete history (as released '84), but it's really nice as it's authorized by the band.
Dogswede1, when I told you that you're my personal here some month ago, I was not kidding. Could you tell which is, in your opinion, the best book about Dire Straits ever been published? Thank you very much :)
If more people'd listen Mark Knopfler's music . The world would be much, much better. When the next war will start we should bombs the enemies with CD's of ''MK.
In the school he had a teacher who said: "You are a waster, going nowhere and do nothing!" (=loser) 3-4 years later he toured in Mexico and Bermuda he sent postcards to the teacher "Dear Sir, here I am in Bermuda, where the hell are you???"
This is how an interview should be conducted. Both people need to talk like friends. Mutual trust and respect is so important.
I completely agree.A fantastic meeting of two musical greats. And nice guys too.

"It's a real bonny tune..." Phil says it all right there.
@SpiritLevelBubble - Exactly what I was thinking. MK seems to enjoy the moment so much, which isn't so common when he does these TV things.

Piper to the end reminds me of the tune Shenandoah

tune on 1:17 ?
Funny accent, but lovable!
What Phil said about Mexico? (Sorry! I'm not an english native speaker)
In the school he had a teacher who said: "You are a waster, going nowhere and do nothing!" (=loser)
3-4 years later he toured in Mexico and Bermuda he sent postcards to the teacher "Dear Sir, here I am in Bermuda, where the hell are you???"
Re teachers: we bait them like that deliberately to push them forward. Don't mention it.
