Hi Linda, I did not personally find the steps too steep but there are crew members that will help you up the steps if they are too difficult for you. The crew members were very friendly and happy to help if needed. Happy cruising!!
There’s not that many stairs to get on the excursion boat, but to get to the viewing deck on the 2nd floor it’s a complete flight up of stairs as you would find on a normal 2 floor house, the first floor viewing is very comfortable with plenty of all around windows, we had a great time on our excursion this past May, follow us...
Hi there! Unfortunately because of the ice field the ships can only go so close to the glacier and the much smaller boats can navigate the ice much easier so to get a good view of the glacier you need to take the excursion. You may get to see part of the glacier from the ship in the distance but it is very weather dependent and how bad the ice field is was how it was explained to us. Tracy Arm Fjord is not a stop rather than the ship does a slow steady cruise through the Fjord then turns around and goes back the other way. The only stop it made was for the excursion boat to pull up along side to transfer the guests on. Hope this helps and I hope you have an amazing cruise!! :)
Hi Bobbi, I didn’t get to eat in the main dining room on this cruise because my friend that I was traveling with had a lot of motion sickness throughout the cruise. She is just very sensitive, the cruise was not overly rocky. I do highly recommend this excursion!
Hi! Thanks for posting this. I’m going on the Carnival Spirit this June. Is this the excursion Tracy Arm Fjord and Glacier Explorer? Did you find the ladder too steep? There was a warning on the page that it’s not recommended for people with mobility issues. Thank you for any input.
Hi Hello Kitty! I believe that is the same excursion although my friend was the one that booked this so I didn’t see what it was called but it was the only excursion you could do at Tracy Arm Fjords. We didn’t have a ladder to climb but there are stairs that go up to the top deck of the ship which were easy to navigate. If the stairs are a problem the bottom of the excursion boat is all enclosed and heated with windows all around so you can see everything. They also have beverages and snacks available to buy down there. This was one of the best excursions I have ever done. The raw beauty is astonishing. I hope you have a great experience as well! Happy cruising!!
We have this excursion booked for our cruise on the Miracle in July. Was surprised it was not sold out. Did it go more places than to cruise ship does? Was it really really cold? We cruised in Alaska in 2017 on that cruise from the cruise ship we cruised the Mendenhall glacier route but stayed on the ship in our balcony suite to see the glacier. The Miracle cruised up to the glacier then back. Was it worth the cost of the excursion? So what all did you see up there? We So Can’t Wait!!!
Hi Anna! We loved this excursion! You get to go much further into the Fjords on the excursion boat because the ship can’t navigate through the ice as well. We saw 2 Glaciers (Sawyer and South Sawyer) and a bunch of seals resting on the ice. The color of the water is very different and pretty. We saw a bunch of cascades and a big waterfall. We also got to see a baby bear on the shore. This excursion is very informative because someone is always on the microphone explaining what your seeing. It was about 40 degrees and very misty so wear a water/wind proof jacket. I wore my LLBean jacket and it was perfect. The raw beauty takes your breath away! I hope your have a great cruise! Come back on and tell me if you enjoyed the excursion, I would love to hear your about your experience. Happy cruising!! Thanks for subscribing!! :)
@@makingmemories8291 thank you so much for the information. I truly do appreciate it. Yes, I will come back on to let you know what we thought of it for sure.
very interesting and very pretty, Thank you.
The glaciers are beautiful!
Yes, the glaciers are an awesome sight.
Did the Miracle last August, am doing again this August. LOVED this ship !!
We were on the Splendor in May and the Miracle in 2011, the glacier explorer excursion was sensational.
I'll be on the Miracle 10 from SFO to Alaska at the end of May. I can't wait
That’s awesome! I hope you have a great cruise!
Beautiful. Thank you for posting. Is it easy to get on tour boat from the ship. I have knee problems and have difficulty with steep steps.

Princess gets closer to Sawyer Glacier face and turns the boat 360 degrees while there. Good excursion though.
Thanks for the info! I will definitely keep that in mind the next time I book an Alaskan cruise.
So does Carnival
The day I went there wasn't a cloud in the sky. Tracy Arm is amazing
Hi Mary, it was awesome even with the clouds and rain but we are booked again for next year and I am hoping to see it in the sun this time.
Did you book the first or second trip of the day?
Hi there! We booked the second trip which was a bit better in our case because the earlier trip was so foggy you could barely see anything.
Can we see the Glacier from the ship if we will not have a stop in Tracy Arm Fjord ?

Beautiful 😍 just wondering if the standard main dining room menu that seems to be on every carnival cruise is on the Alaskan cruise?

We also had a great excursion, will be going back next year, we were on the Splendor, the dining room food was excellent to us.
