Thanks so much for taking us on such a fabulous walk around Ketchikan with you. We will be there next year on a HAL cruise, and your video has really upped the excitement level. Cheers
We just went back to Ketchikan last month. We were on Holland America’s Eurodam. We have a 360° video of walking to Creek Street coming soon. Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.

My family and I are taking an Alaskan Cruise on celebrity next year. Thank you for his awesome video with ideas on where to go. Keep up the awesome work.
Hi. I’m 58 now. My family moved to Ketchikan when I was 5. From Southern California. Only stayed a year or so, but I remember the salmon stacked in the creek. Thanks for sharing
You are always so full of grand information! You're exceptionally helpful! I'm a bit surprised more viewers haven't found you! Keep enjoying and sharing. Many of us appreciate you!
Very nice video. My wife and two daughters will be heading on an Alaskan cruisetour June 2020. I appreciate all of your videos and the information you are sharing!
I tend to favor the Great Smoky mountains and east coast ranges, but I like this as well. The climate in summer is better in Ketchikan than the east coast too. Thanks for the video.
We have never been to the Great Smoky Mountains, but we have been on the East Coast in the middle of summer and it was hot and humid. Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.
Loved your walk. I miss Alaska and hoping that we can return this next summer..2021! Ketchikan is one of my favorite ports...I work onboard Princess as a seasonal worker during the summers. This was a vey nice reminder! thank for sharing.
I worked as a tour guide in Ketchikan the summer of 2019. It was a wonderful 7 months. Almost every afternoon I enjoyed a fresh cappachino in the NY Cafe. Delicious appetizer dinners at Cape Fox or crepes after six. Yummy.
Thanks for sharing! Cape Fox Lodge seems like a nice place. We would eat there but we would miss the boat. Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.
Phyllis Anniskette thank you for your comments. We actually went to Ketchikan twice this summer. We really enjoyed our time there. We hope you are a subscriber.
Hi Phyllis, my grandparents lived there, and I would spend every summer there. They owned the post office/general store in downtown, with all the Jelly Belly's. I worked there since I was a kid. I sure miss it.
I been up there several times on a cruise ship but I never seen that many cruise ships in Ketchikan the most I have ever seen was 4 most of the time only 3... We always did excursions, the lumber jack show, totem bight, whale sight seeing boat ride, and I think they had a helicopter sight seeing ride..... Also lots of shopping....
Hope you enjoy it! We are going next week. Watch for our live broadcasts from Alaska. We have videos of most of the ports in Alaska on our UA-cam channel if you want to check them out. Thanks for your comments and thanks for subscribing to our channel.
Excellent narration! I will be going there in 3 days. I was there in 2016 and din't know about the tram. Now I will go up to the Cape Fox Lodge and walk down just like you did. Just subscribed Thank you!!!
I went to Ketchikan on a cruise back in August, but the ship was only docked for 4 1/2 hours, so there wasn't much time to explore. I just walked to the Safeway and then went back to the ship. What I saw I liked, though.
Ketchikan is my first port that i used to sign on in ncl cruse line as a cook way back 1996 i was only 26 yrs old and i cannot forget that moment in my life how i wish i could visit again one day thanks for your beautifull vlog bro from philippines.
This is my hometown and if anyone is planning on coming up on a cruise you'd wished you all flew up so that you had more time here because 4 or 5 hours touring around just isn't long enough there is so much to see and for you avid hikers as my family and I are you'll love our trails and our mountains and those of you whom love boating etc., on the waters you'll have a blast here my family and I do everything outdoors all summer long we go ; camping, hiking, fishing, gold panning, scavenger hunting and have barbeques in our backyard oh and our view from our backyard is Deer Mountain and it's our view when we wake up in the morning and if you love zip lining well,we have that as well,so hope to see you this summer 2022 have fun and be safe
This is inspiring for me as well as I do my initial research for an alaskan cruise. I hear Juneau, AK is a good stop along the way too. But I def. want to see Ketchikan and get souvenir salmon treats. . lots.
I enjoyed most of your video. I just saw this from the many videos people have posted. I am going on The HAL Zuiderdam April 27, 2022. Its been 3 years since I sailed to Alaska. That cruise was on the HAL Westerdam in a suite which was really nice. This time I am sailing in a balcony. Keep up the good videos. Maybe your wife can do a little narrative :).
Hi guys, was following your cruise to Mexico on Discovery Princess then saw these in Alaska, I'm on the Discovery Princess to Alaska in mid May this year. Getting really anxious now!!!
I do tours all summer long I work from 6:amto 6pm and where you saw that red builing on the corner by main st. that whole stripe used to be where our saw mill was it was there for quite some time as with our pulp mill and logging back from when we started out and got all these up and running we had an island filled with muti millionaires and then things started getting shut down we had businness on every block and only one main jeweler's before Julie's and a lot of places shut down it was then a walmart came in and all the businesses shut down downtown and it was a sad sight the high cost of low prices but since then we are getting locally owned and operated businesses up and running again thank goodness my Husband and I are self employed so it helps us to be able to take time off in the summer to go fishing camping etc., and that was awesome when he said shop local thank you for that, whenever my husband and I go south we do as much local shopping and eating out in the lower 48's we understand the importance of this
I loved this. I lived there as a child. Was the Thai restaurant still there? My grandparents had a shop that used to sell fudge . Man . All the feels. I miss them
My sister and I are going on The Norwegian Encore Alaska Cruise June 2021 and we will only be in Ketchikan for 6 hours. I'm not sure why. That doesn't give you much time to explore. 7am to 1:15pm. Saving this vlog to help us find our way around quickly.
6 hours is all you need, it’s a very small town, you have an option of catching a city bus to bring you around the town where the tourist bus will not take you, I’m sure you will come up to Juneau where it is bigger and have a bit more to explore, most tourist shops open early to welcome the early birds and also to get your coffee
I’m actually a local of Ketchikan and I’m just kinda giggling about this. Because he was right he headed towards the main staged town but in the winter the main part of town is the other way where the only mall is. And the only McDonalds.
Ketchikan resident here. I enjoyed your video. You seem like a pleasant person and did a good job with the town tour. You got a few things wrong but they weren't too important. Except, most the stores in the area you walked are not locally owned. A few are though. Yes always try and find the true local stores when traveling. Too bad you were here during all the construction. It was awful. And the weather was very typical that day. 140 to 160 inches of rain a year. That's 11 to 13 feet, that's less than when I moved here, it was 15 feet back then.
Dangit! I'm actually going on an Alaskan cruise in about 2 weeks. You should've scheduled it there and did a "fan meetup" haha. Thanks for the video!! Perfect timing.
It’s cheaper to fly into Washington and take the ferry up or take the planes. Plus you can stay longer than a day. If you do come I recommend going to Saxman and looking at the cultural roots we have up here and go to the Totem Heritage Center right next to the City Park and looking at some of the amazing art and photographs they have from the time period. I think the most interesting thing about Ketchikan is the Native Culture and the fishing. Avoid the Jewelry stores. Creek street is a really cool place to go too it’s the oldest street in the town. Ketchikan was originally a fishing port and was a place where fish men could come find hookers at Dolly’s house and drink a beer at the Potlatch. Both of those original buildings are still there and you can still go inside them. Though I don’t think you can get hookers at dolly’s house anymore...
Very helpful tour. Would like to know what time of year you were there (sounds like Spring?) and how long you were in port. Also, other than a coffee shop or two, didn’t see many restaurants? Thanks.
This was recorded near the end of May. There are about 10 restaurants near where we were walking. Some of them were inside other buildings, like the mall. Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.
Wow, 1pm is early to depart from a port....6pm, 8pm and 10pm are our departure times from the 3 ports (Skagway, Juneau and Ketchikan) on our Alaska cruise with Holland America in 3 months...that seems reasonable!
We were on Holland America's Maasdam on a 21 day Alaska cruise. 14 ports! We had to keep moving. Thanks for your comments and we hope you subscribe to our channel.
It was at the corner of Spruce Mill Street and front Street. We think it still is. Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.
From most of the Alaskan cruise videos I've watched, I'm beginning to believe that neither Skagway nor Ketchikan wouldn't exist without the cruise industry
They are remnants of fishing and/or mining, and for better or worse, would not be nearly as big without cruise ships. Much like many ports around the world. Thanks for your comments and we hope you subscribe to our channel.
@johntaco861 We just got home from our cruise Sept 2nd. What I don't understand is all the jewelry stores in Skagway and ketchikan. Why??? I think I counted 11 in a row in Skagway, and most were empty of tourists. Being these stops are about nature, why are there so many jewelry stores there??
Thanks! We will be back in September. Last September we saw thousands of salmon in Ketchikan Creek. Check out our video: ua-cam.com/video/WJFEUHaJKWE/v-deo.html
You can check ahead to avoid itineraries with that many ships in port. The jewelry stores are no bargain and of questionable quality consistency. And why 'shop' on a cruise? You can hike the Tongas, do a whale watch, see Misty Fjords by boat or air or see bears from boardwalks or in Neets Bay. Smoked salmon is delicious--a tin ia a great souvenir.
All true. We didn’t buy any jewelry or do any shopping in Ketchikan other than we bought smoked salmon up on Creek Street from Simply Salmon. Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.
This was recorded at the end of May. If you want to see the salmon running, though, you need to go later in the summer, check out this video, which was recorded in September: Ketchikan, Alaska - Creek St. & Salmon - What to Do on Your Day in Port ua-cam.com/video/WJFEUHaJKWE/v-deo.html Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.

zachariah haskins the only one that’s close to being local is behind all that there’s Toms treasures which is only open till Christmas. But yeah all the shops close and it becomes a ghost town in the winters
Ken Wells on this video we used a Feiyu G6 gimbal. We now have a GoPro Hero 7 that has built-in stabilization. We use both now. Thank you for your comments. Please subscribe to our channel.
Thank you for your video. This is awesome! Can you tell me how long it took you to navigate through the 3 miles? Was the signage adequate for a newbie?
It’s beautiful in Ketchikan. You’re lucky. We haven’t seen the Oosterdam either. Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.

I’d rather not pay 42 dollars to watch men chop wood .
Perhaps.

We're going on an Alaskan cruise next year and your videos are very helpful! I'm a new subscriber and look forward to watching more. 🚢

Sad there's no ships until July...i hope anyway. I give tours!
There's lots to do here! There's up to seven ships that come in to town now. I'm from here and I love the wildlife.
That was very helpful. Thank you :)
We have several more Ketchikan videos on our UA-cam channel. For your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.

Great Video
Thanks! Thanks for your comments and for subscribing to our channel.
Jerry Crooker that’s kinda rude, personally I’m doing pretty alright here. Just hope this whole corona thing blows over soon
We are fishing Capital of the World we’d survive as we always have
@johntaco861 We just got home from our cruise Sept 2nd. What I don't understand is all the jewelry stores in Skagway and ketchikan. Why??? I think I counted 11 in a row in Skagway, and most were empty of tourists. Being these stops are about nature, why are there so many jewelry stores there??
Thanks very helpful
Glad it helped Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.
very nice well done.
Thank You very much and thanks for subscribing.
Thanks for the video. It's a lot like actually being there. It seems like a tourist trap.
As soon as you get out of town it's just a beautiful place. Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.
May I know when did you go? In the video it looked very cold! lol
This was recorded at the end of May in 2019. It was not that cold. Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.

I want to move there so much! I'm a wood carver an artisan if you will. I love the wild and want to change of atmosphere. I love rain cold extra.
Sounds like you would fit in there well. Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.
Great video, we will be there Aug 2nd 2022, so hopefully we might catch the end of the salmon run.
Thanks! We will be back in September. Last September we saw thousands of salmon in Ketchikan Creek. Check out our video: ua-cam.com/video/WJFEUHaJKWE/v-deo.html
So what you are saying while at Port is that things are catch-as-catch-can in Katchican. I see.
Ha Ha Ha! You for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.
💯💖💖 thanks for sharing..❤️
What month did you go there? I'm planning trip there this year and trying to find the best month to go.
This was recorded at the end of May. If you want to see the salmon running, though, you need to go later in the summer, check out this video, which was recorded in September: Ketchikan, Alaska - Creek St. & Salmon - What to Do on Your Day in Port

This was recorded at the end of May in 2019. Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.
May I trouble you Sir , too ask what month this was? We are travelling in August up that way and wondering what sort of weather we may encounter.
This was recorded at the end of May. In August you will see Salmon running. We have another video we shot in the middle of September. You may want to watch that: ua-cam.com/video/WJFEUHaJKWE/v-deo.html

Also those tourist shops arent local at all
We tried to show some shops that said they were local. Thanks for your comments and we hope you are a subscriber.
zachariah haskins the only one that’s close to being local is behind all that there’s Toms treasures which is only open till Christmas. But yeah all the shops close and it becomes a ghost town in the winters
The tourist industry will hire someone out of state to work in one of their shops
Yes and you can buy all the Chinese totem poles too
Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.
Nice video. Very informative and fun.
What camera stabilizer do you use?
Ken Wells on this video we used a Feiyu G6 gimbal. We now have a GoPro Hero 7 that has built-in stabilization. We use both now. Thank you for your comments. Please subscribe to our channel.
Thank you for your video. This is awesome! Can you tell me how long it took you to navigate through the 3 miles? Was the signage adequate for a newbie?
There were may signs. The whole trip took about 3 hours. Thank you for your comments. We hope you subscribe to our channel.
