I only wish there were more dance performances which showed off the grace and beauty of the male body. This production absolutely blew me away. I think Tchaikovsky would be pleased to see this production. How great it would be to see more standard pieces in the repertoire re-staged with male couples.
I feel so blessed to have watched this particular cast. Richard Winsor's hands are not moving...they flow in space. It was a lifetime experience. You are not the same after watching it!!
In our culture you have to go to the theatre in order to observe the the empowerment of a human body and soul by an animal spirit. Thank god we have them and artists who have the courage and the sensitivity to take on such a project!
This is the most enchanting sequence in the whole show. And it's a wonderful interpretation of swans. Female productions go for much more delicate and graceful movements, but here everything feels powerful abd dignified. It reflects how swans are very strong and sometimes aggressive birds and brings a new energy to a very old ballet.
Watching this was a match made in heaven! So phenomenal! All the ballet moves were extraordinary …I must go and watch this wonderful adaptation of Swan Lake….forever in love with anything to do with Ballet whisk’s me away to a place of magical memories!
The more you know SWAN LAKE in its classic format, the more you know how truly wonderful and exceptional this is. Has Matthew Bourne tapped into the secret SWAN LAKE of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky['s subconscious? The one that existed buried under his personal psychic pain? I think so . . . or at least something quite close to it. Look at the movements; even the great Vaslav Nijinsky makes his appearance known here. What an incredibly brave, multi-layered and audacious piece of choreography this is. Bravo, Mr. Bourne!
In some way, this is different, instead of an inocent white swan like in the original ballet, here is more a proactive force, more similar to the indomitable nature, an equal to the prince who can learn from the swan and viceversa. Is different in that aspect, and I love it.
Just watched some footage with Dominic North in the 2019 production, it's extremely unbelievable how he seems to haven't aged a bit compared to the 2012 production. His prince is still a youthful, boyish, inexperienced young man, but the way he played the part, added little details to the character, and his chemistry with Will Bozier - the Swan, makes the connection between the prince and his swan even more understanding, gentle, yet cruelly heartbreaking.
Como Hamlet, "to be or no to be".
Oh noooo, why did they make these changes in the choreography ? I saw Adam Cooper's Swan in 2012, and it was so much better ! I'm not even talking about the chemistry between the dancers playing the prince and the swan which was so much stronger back then, but the little choreographic changes, why why why ? The embrace from the back at 14:45, it's totally ignores the music and by so, the intensity of this embrace is... just meeeeh. And it's not the only time the new choreography forgets about the music, that's too bad 😥

Old, yes, but eternally beautiful and captivating in any rendition.
I've enjoyed this production for a decade and this scene still reduces me to tears ........

This is still a startling and thoroughly brilliant interpretation of Swan Lake. Fresh, imaginative, and full of fire.
Fantastic. Because I raised three beautiful young men, I just see their beauty and strength

THIS VERSION OF THE BALLET PERFORMED BY MATTHEW BOURNE IS MY FAVORITE
How good choreography, greetings and respect from Zagreb Croatia
EXPECTACULAR choreography and dance technique

Amazing! So absolutely perfect!
Most beautiful!
A modern masterpiece
This is wonderful, Stathi. I love it. Viv
I L O V E T H I S V E R S I O N😵🥰💜💜
Oh, love me some homoerotic ballet and its commentary upon sexual politics in ballet. Go, swans, go!
Splendido!!!
Bellísimo...
Increíble..!!
Me fascinó !
How did UA-cam know I'm secretly gay and recommend it to me ?
MUY BUENO UNA VERSIÓN DISTINTA EN LA CUAL TODOS LOS BAILARINES SE LUCEN EN CORDINACIÓN.

Tchaikovsky was gay so this version is perfect.

Turkey Lake.
I find this Bourne production incredibly seductive, but in spite of myself, I also find your comment incredibly funny.
lol

The male is the bar!! Bring back the females..real ballerinas! This was a stupid performance
Horrid
Terrible idea,
Why?
Swans are both male and female, so why not?
Demon,ghost,& monster.
