You are correct; if you move the positive first and your tool touches the frame which is attached to the negative it will spark and might short out your car computer.
Great video. Thank you! Tip for others: careful with those clips at 00:00:49. The third one, he opens in the video, broke for me. Plastic piece that cannot be easily replaced
Never in 25 years of working on auto electrical systems has it ever been sensible or safe to touch a positive terminal Not only putting yourself at risk but an expensive repair to the vehicle too
I believe its a standard feature on this year make and model. Just push it up higher and if it goes then it goes. Mine is an 09. Sure makes working on it easier!

Yeah looking at info later it turns out the proper way is to disconnect the negative first. Thats not something that I ever thought had a correct way to do. I was thinking this video to be more general help for locating battery and identifying the clips to hold the smaller battery in place.
Always disconnect the negative first, then the postive.
Was going to say the same. That way you can't fry the main fuse or blow up the battery if your ratchet contacts ground.

I was told that doing it backwards would trigger the anti theft and the only way to get it out of lockdown is to tow it to a Mercedes dealership

What about re-programing ?
That was my big question... The memory will reset and that definitely poses a problem... We need to be properly guided on this esp for Mercedes or BMW
Some times people hook up a battery booster when removing the old battery as to not loose any memory settings. Cheers. e@@erickjuma7643
How about the power baxkup when u take out the bateri?
Power backup? You mean so that all the electronics dont get reset?
@@sergytsemayes, have the same question. Should I make some power backup or disconnect a battery does not have any affect for car electronic?

Not even sure what that is. I never used one whatever that is.

Is there a danger of the car losing memory when the battery is removed with the car turned off? I really need clarification on this, someone please...
Your clock and radio may need to be reset but I dont think itll mess with much else.
Thankyou!!!
Is this the main battery that starts the car?Is the one in the trunk/boot a leisure battery so to speak??
I think that your battery is eitjer in the trunk or the front. Not in both places.
@sergytsema there are 2 batteries on this car. Main one under the bonnet, auxiliary in the boot.
Just saved me $500 at the dealer. Lol. Plus tax.
Anybody know the price of a C300 Mercedes battery versus AutoZone??
Use the walmart brand everlast they’re like $139 … the batteries are all made by the same manufacturer

Why not a Benz battery?
The reason I ask is I bought a 08 c300 2.5 yrs ago & it has a smaller duralast battery so should I go buy a large Benz battery to be safe?
I went with auto store battery cause I figured the dealerships would be more expensive but I didnt price check.

Use genuine MB battery
They last long and they fit
How much would one cost compared to autopart store do you know?
