Hotpoint F05 & Indesit F05 Washing Machine Fault. Pressure Sensor

  • Despite what Hotpoint says, the most common cause of F05 in Indesits and Hotpoints in my experience is failure of the pressure sensor/switch.
    I show how to remove and replace.

    had f05 fault gone down blocked issue found pump issue also got foreign body in pump filter so replaced it because noise issues but on testing the appliance same fault no problem with drainage
    so checked you tube again to point me in the right direction saw your video and thought worth a try so ordered new pressure switch and new water inlet on the off chance a rare mechanical fault with the valve changed both and you were right pressure switch fault water pump cost +delivery £34 and your direction cost £27 +delivery so total repair £ 62 a lot better than getting £400-£500 new machine and would not realised the fault without your direction especially as money is tight for all theses days and reducing landfill + browny points with the misses thank you

    Sometimes knowledge is power, please bare with me) I previously had an 'indesit' washing machine, recently bought a 'hotpoint' machine. Subsequently I quickly found out the new machine would not even run the spin drain cycle, consequence water on my floor. Having read up, I learnt that these are sister brands... Having removed another pump unit, I had two weeks to work it out, and came to the right conclusion which brought me to this page. My gut dropped when I looked out of my window to see how promptly they had removed, not to mention the time I wasted checking pipes that turned out to be immaculate throughout... Thank you for confirming my best guess, greatly appreciated 👍👍

    I was suffering from the F05 error and found this video. I also read Tim Hoad's comment and attempted to reconnect the pressure switch and check the pipe was clear (could blow through it). In my case the F05 error persisted and so ordered the replacement switch on eBay and the machine is now back in action. Massive thanks all!

    Thank you so much for this video; my WMUD9627 wouldn't unlock and then gave me the F5 fault. I checked the instructions and cleaned the pump, however it didn't help. Followed your video, took the loom out and put it back in (to trick it lol) and it worked. I've just ordered a new sensor and will leave the machine alone now until I replace the part. £20 instead of a new machine. Thanks again.

    After calling Hotpoint, who didn't want to offer any more advice other than the suggestion to send a service engineer after I'd confirmed that there was no blockage, then a local repairer who said he had a 1 week waiting list, I found this video and made the repair myself. The sensor took 5 minutes and that ended a week of worry. Thanks for posting this video, I'm sure you've saved me £100s

    Same F05 fault on my 10 year old hotpoint. Best check if there is a block to the drain pipe as my machine is piped in. I simply removed the drain pipe and put end into a bucket and put the machine into drain which it did. Indicating that the machine is fine and my drain pipes are blocked. Simply check before spending your cash.

    OK, I repair washing machines for a living, and would like to throw a little light on this, the pressure switch isnt failed, thats the first thing, these switches are extremely reliable, so before you go waste £19 on a switch thats not broken, the issue is almost always the pressure switch pipe which gets blocked with soap and conditioner residue and forms a blockage to the switch, whats happening is buy taking off the pipe from the switch your releasing the air pressure on one side the block then clears and the machine will run again, its easy to test these switches with a multimeter and blow into it, if its working it will open and close the circuit. they are very rarely failing.

      This comment prompted me to have a second look at the pipes after I bought pressure switch and got same F05... turns out clear pen lid had jammed the fan drainage which I missed first time... waste of money buying the pressure switch... washing machine working well now thanks

    The F05 error code on a hotpoint might not always be the pressure switch! Mine had this problem this morning I have the hotpoint aqualtis model and my pump filter was clogged now works fine so check that and the sump pipe underneath going from the drum to the pump to see if there are any blockages before you go buying a new pressure switch and the F05 error comes back! Just to find out it’s blocked…. 🤦🏻‍♂️ Worth a check that’s all it was with mine. :)

    F5 error with machine full of water, drained water, checked the filter, looked ok and impeller moved freely. removed hose from pressure switch and blew down it, could hear air so its clear, blew into switch & that seemed to move a diaphragm or something so assumed ok. tried to rinse the throw that was in there and it refilled with water but then f5 code re-appears. removed throw and it weighs 11.5kg (wet) machine loads is 9kg so overload could also cause the F5 error

    Pressure switch. Pressure from what ..water pressure ? I have a new machine 3 months old and we have had 3 X F05 so far and I can't get the door open to get the clothes out as there's no little lever at the bottom

    • @stuartfisher447
      @stuartfisher447 2 роки тому +1

      It indirectly measures the depth of the water in the machine by measuring the air pressure in the tube which is connected at the base of the drum. As the water level rises, the pressure of the air in the tube increases.

      In my experience, if the pressure sensor switch fails, then the m/c will not start and post F05 when powered on.
      Your problem is most likely elsewhere such a blockage.
