    Excellent video, thank you so much. Saved me £20 to replace the brush, and I managed to fix the rotating issue with your video.

    Once again a smart person solves a problem and shares it with the world. This saved me from throwing out my cordless Vax. Thank you ever so much!

    Great job. I got as far as staring at the square end thinking, "this is surely not designed to turn", poked with screwdriver and then gave up. This prompted me to try again.

    My wife said she could smell hair burning. I took the brush out and cut the hair free. Reassembled and it wouldn’t spin. Thought the square thing on the end must be a bearing but it wasn’t turning. Found your video which confirmed it. I had a hell of a time getting the end so off. Turning out the burning was the plastic melting on the inside. It’s totalled so have to buy a new brush bar! Thanks for the video though 👍

    Omg, thank you! I've been trying to fix my hoover for ages! Doing what you did and adding some WD40 to the stuck part, it now works again! Thank you 😊

    I spend all day watching videos and even talking to vax live chat without any results, then I finally stumbled across your video and fixed my hoover in 10 minutes ! I didn't even need a vice, the cap popped straight off ! Thank you so much ! It saved me buying a new brush, which is what vax live chat recommended

    Just had this exact issue with our vax. i figured that the square end should hold it while the rest rotated, but could not see how with my limited tools.
    was about to give up when i found your video. will now take the brush bar to a friend who has a vice and give this fix a go :)

    Thank you mate, I had exactly the same fault and this fixed it! 8 years of accumulated hair-grease-concrete crud. It works again (for now anyway). The smell was quite something...

    Just an Update: Took the cap off. Seized bearing, a bit of WD40 a bit of tapping and turning with the pliers, bearing now works. Just finished putting together. My word it works fantastic, better than when it was new! Top Man. Thanks.👍👍👍

    Same thing happened to my vax, fixed it 8 months ago using this method - but the same thing has happened again the dust just heats up due to friction around this plastic part and effectively welds this bearing to the case. Definitely a design flaw - well done for posting the fix mine has worn too badly now to fix well

    Thank you so so much . Kids vacuumed up Xmas light wire and with friction the plastic wire sheath melted the end cap to the brush roller..Happy Christmas

    Thanks! I was about to order a Dyson @ £499 to replace the seized up Vax but your video has enabled me to fix the issue with the brush bar. Mine had a ton of hair wrapped round the inside. Running like a dream now!

    Brilliant !! Absolutely compacted with hair at the opposite end of the brush bar on mine, sorted in 20 minutes, hardest part was digging the hair out it was so tight. Many thanks for your advice.

    I have been trying to get my Vax working for days :-)
    On taking it apart, mine looks like it was more than gunged up, but melted completely. Had to smash it open with a hammer to confirm. lol

    the bearing assembly beneath the cap can be levered out with a screwdriver to make clearing easier.

  • @leewot

    I had the same issue.. ( about a year ago) the roller had effectively friction welded itself to the cup
    I did the same fix ... but ordered replacement parts from vax. My repair lasted a few weeks before rewelding itself together.
    I then replaced the parts with the new ones id ordered
    Today it started making the same noises and on inspection it had welded itself again..but this time the square end had ripped through its receptacle in the chassis of the cleaner head. Clearly it’s a massive design flaw
    I’ve now ordered a Shark vacuum to replace the vax in the hope I won’t have to do similar repairs again

    • @crazytom
      @crazytom  3 роки тому

      Yes.. also switched to a Shark to avoid a design flaw any half competent engineer should have spotted in the Fax.

  • @SamSam24270
    @SamSam24270 3 роки тому

    I'm not an engineer, but I worked this out by myself. Also no need to make such a lot of fuss, I used a tiny screw driver and carefully loosened it until it turned around, no need to remove it, that's just asking for more trouble.🤔😂

    have this exact problem. already done this twice in the last year or so. last time the cap was pretty melted and doesn't really fit round the bearing anymore. annoyingly vax appear to have changed the drive design slightly, the one I need uses a toothed belt but the later ones are the grooved type like the one here. was going to get a new brushbar but the toothed one is permanently out of stock. I hate this built in obsolescence, it's a really good cleaner but for this poor design.

      Perhaps the plastic got so hot through friction it's melted and bonded? As I say in the vid.. poor design.

    I'm not so lucky it had fused together, and you can't buy a replacement for it, ridiculous
