Your kitchen, your rules!
Thankyou for this.. the freezer went on me yesterday and l have been busy canning all the meat, and vegetables.. l small glass bottle, my milk when l buy them..hate plastic and l don't use a lot of milk.. so now l can save the milk by just waterbathing the glass bottles.. such a relief
Great information.I have the same canner and a presto electric canner. I love both! Just found you and subbing!
Thanks so much!
Thank you!
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching!
Im so glad 9 found your video! Ill be doing this. 😊
Thanks for stopping by!
I use my Presto for WB canning frequently. I leave the gasket in, and the weighted regulator off. I never have to top up the water.
I also WB and steam can in mine
How much head space do to you leave to accommodate for the cold liquid expanding,
@@zachgardner2053 I left a one inch headspace

Does the milk taste the same when you open the jar as when you put it in? How long do you leave it on the shelves before opening?Thank you for any help.
@@LalaDee6251yes it does. You can leave it on the shelf for several years - if it lasts that long (never does at my house). You can use it as soon as you want.
If your canner is less than 20 years old, it's got a synthetic rubber gasket that doesn't need to be oiled.
Thanks for that! It just needs to be replaced every 2-3 years. I have been oiling it because I saw my mom and grandma do it.
Why only come up to pressure and then turn off? I understand none of it is approved....but is it because you want to avoid "cooking" the milk? Does it ruin the taste and texture to keep under pressure for longer?
Yes, it does
@@GrammyMidwife Thank you!
How did you know for the 15 on oj
I watched other people’s videos who have successfully canned OJ and had it shelf stable.
That's pressure canning Not water bath. Waisted my time. So much for not approved canning very miss leading
Thanks for watching anyway! My description doesn’t say waterbathed. It is however, not an “approved” canning method.
Canning milk is not approved by the powers that be. So no you didn’t waste your time. I personally would not water bath milk or any other low acid food. Not worth my time or the possible life of my family. But as they say your kitchen your rules! I do pressure can milk.
Thanks for watching! Appreciate your opinion.
I watched a video yesterday about waterbath canning milk...waterbath it for 60 minutes..never tried it like that I always pressure can mine.
@@wagon53417 I’ve never waterbathed it. Only PC.
I just finished making turkey broth and ham broth and PC’ed 18 pints. Yay! Soup base for a while.
