yeah... i figured that one out the hard way :( I got my brand new Yamaha Xeno 882OR and i was like ooooooo they gave me free slide stuff... never again
"Sir, do you hear that? *trombone that hasn't been sprayed/creamed(etc...) in months* It's the sound of...WEAKNESS" And the trombone army went on to conquer its enemy with the slides
I have a yamaha trombone. I came with yamaha slide grease the music store that i got it from said use the slide cream for the tuning slide and slide grease for the slide.
a little dated using trombontine. i used superslick and super slick plus for 35 years (water soluable- does not cake up). then yamaha came out w their liquid tubes. affectionatly called "yama snot". is light years ahead. last for several days on the slide, even w heavy playing. will make a narly slide feel great. look out for 14th position
Michael Balogh - I use Super slick also, but I teach middle school band and I’ve found the trombotine to be the path of lease resistance for their first year. After they get a little bit smarter in 7/8th grade I move them to better stuff
One of my fellow trombone players recently ran into a problem where her outer slide gets "stuck" on the stockings, resulting in her not being able to move the slide to its full extent. We examined the slide very carefully and found no imperfections, and even got the opinion of a perfessional, but it seems as though there is nothing actually wrong. We tried multiple different lubricants and even bathed her trombone in an attempt to fix this issue, but nothing seems to work. Any advice?
Keith Marshall more of a personal question im a trombone player from james nikki rowe hs and i wanted to ask about your experience in the marching band
Kevin Obenauf - I like slide-o-mix... but I'm open to better options. (And I don't let my students use it because 1. It's more expensive and 2. Too complicated to apply for a middle schooler)
You have to experiment with the particular instrument you own. Some work better with one product than with others is my 60 years of experience as a player. :)
Very professional and helpful video. Thanks.
Very helpful and well made instructional video. Thank you!
why am i watching this i play clarinet
I play Euphonium and I’m gonna play it soon
S-Squidward?
The same principles apply to greasing your reed.
Ah yes greasing the reed I do it every day
Ello
That slide grease that comes with the trombone is meant for the tuning slide lol

Is my trombone going to break? because I accidentally used the tuning slide cream to clean the normal slide
@@The_Lodge I don’t believe so, maybe if you clean it with lukewarm water it would work
@@JacobtheCuber I play guitar now but my trombone works just fine.
@@The_Lodge oh oof ok!

Is the Carlton Trombone Slide lube a good option? It came with the trombone idk if i have time to get new lube before my upcoming concert.
Is my slide supposed to make a loud scratching sound every time I move it and is there a solution to it?

Mf might just be broken. I tripped with my bone had the same problem so send it to a shop to get it fixed I guess that’s what I had to do
Maybe the inside of the outer slide is scratched up a bit at some spots, or the brace wasn't adjusted properly before soldering.
That helped a lot but can you still Yamaha slide grease soft??
How often do I apply the cream to the times I spray the water ? I spray the water 💦 way more often than I apply the cream?
thank you, this works so well! :)
...Is the tuning slide grease I use on my French Horn the same stuff I should use on my Trombone? Because I’m lost.
NO! Tuning slide lube is WAY too thick for a trombone slide.
Which is better using slide oil or slide grease I need help
Slide-O-Mix.
My band director says one tune should last us until our senior year
boa noite, a vara externa cada uma tem calibre diferente ou são iguais ?

That is my trombone teacher
How to order trombone slide??
I added too much by accident now it’s sticky damn it
Regular water in spray bottle?
Thx for the advice 👍🏻
Distilled water is recommended if you want to bother with it.
Holy water is the best to keep demons out
this video helped me a lot
who else always loses the little rubber pice on the end of the slide XDD

What kind of lubricant do you recommend for more professional playing?

I now use YAMAHA Slide Lubricant.
How often do you need to grease the slide?
whenever it starts to sound bad
Spraying water wouldn't make the slide rust ?(I'm beginner)
no its fine
It can't rust because it's made from mined brass
@@cynthia6798 brass is an alloy of copper and zinc, meaning that it doesn't naturally occur
when I only put it on the stocking it slows it down and makes it have drag. why is this????
Gaming Republic - putting too much on it probably
@@untbonestud is it because I'm using the cream that came with it? does that contribute
... the cream is for the tuning slide... not the actual slide that you move while you play...
Thx helped alot
What if this doesn't work
Do it again
thanks!
TY!!!!!
it's Joshua do we use our mouth pease cleaner
Good video but your vocal fry is unbearable.
I have a friend who sprays it too much: every 3-5 minutes
