I appreciate that you took the time to relate the reasons for a trombone slide to be not working. Step one is diagnosis.

I had problem with my trombone's slide since i bought it used. I followed your instructions and I found several problems and thanks to you rectified them. One problem was a distance between outer slide pipes. At the ends they were the same but at the middle distance was ~1mm larger, so i pushed then gently toward each other to eliminate the bowing and checked each for straightness and now in first time there is no dragging which ruins the fun. Thank you

I pull the slide almost all the way out then push in slowly to see where I begin to feel friction. Helps give a better idea of whether the dent is closer to the water key or farther. That way I know where to look

Great video! What could be the problem and the solution if the slide is fast but noisy? I was told it had a chemical bath before it was sold.

My first guess is that there is a little bit of dust or lint from the cleaning cloth when it was cleaned. If that is the reason, it will probably go away shortly with normal use.

Hello. I am wanting to make a trombone from scratch. Is there any tips on where to start?

I am very curious as to how a repair shop takes out dents in inner and outer slides. Do you have a video for that?

Here is a link to a video of me removing slide dents as part of a project. I hope to do a video on handslide dents in the near future.

You probably have a dent or the slide tubes were knocked so they are skewed or not parallel. I suggest taking it to your local repair shop and tell them what happened and see if they can fix it.

I was told to put trombone slide cream on my trombone slide, and it instantly made my instrument sound extremely scratchy, even hard to move. After reading the manual, it said that it was meant to be put on the tuning slide instead. I've deep cleaned my instrument multiple times and it still makes that noise and is harder to move, I checked if there were any dents on the slide, but there weren't. How do I remove this?

Put some valve oil on the inner handslide tubes and work them vigorously for a minute. Then use a trombone slide rod to clean the inside of the outer slides and a rag to clean the outside of the inner slide tubes. Do this a couple times and it should help. that may or may not fix it. You may just have to play it that way for a little while and it should get better with time.
