This will be my first official Houseplant Spring, because I fell down the rabbit hole last summer in July when I moved house. So. I am literally SO EXCITED for this spring prep series!! I have already learned so much from you Fern, and I love your content so much, please please make this a whole mini series of 3-5 vids!! That truly sounds amazing to me. Hopefully everyone else (and you!) agrees, so we can sway you into extending this haha. Thank you for being you!🌿🌱💚
@@hberror404 my new housemate had a purple passion plant, and I thought it was very cool and I picked up a pothos, a croton mammy, philodendron hederaceum, and a red prayer plant at the local grocery store for like $3.99 each, because they looked so sad! After looked them up to me se how to care for them, my wishlist tripled lolol
🎵Why did I do it like this?!🎶 I love that you share these moments. It is live and learn and you are willing to help us do so by watching you! Thanks for being so real. Don't ever try to be like other channels. Show what YOU are into at the moment, because we all love different vibes and yours is so humble and honest and relatable. ❤
Thank you Fern! I have so many dumb plant chores to do, I’ve kept your videos on all last night and today while I chopped two poles and replanted so many plants. I would’ve been so bored if I didn’t have you also doing chores “with” me! My living room, kitchen and dining area are now trashed, maybe we need a video of sweeping and vacuuming and putting stuff away! (And I have been subscribed forever, this is a secondary account.)
Hi Fern! I would love to see more Spring Plant Chore videos if you end up doing a series 😊 The ROF should root easily. I had to cut mine up last fall and rooted it in water. Thankfully, it went well. The roots just had a tendency to point upwards instead of down so I had to be careful of the water level getting too low. Also, I definitely think making moss poles ahead of time will help you out. Future Fern will thank you 😉 It might be too late but you could try finding a plastic storage bin for wrapping paper and use that for your moss poles if you have room to store it in your basement. It would keep them dry, out of the way, and no spiders could get into them.
Oh, man the state of your amydrium looks exactly like mine did when it had Rust fungus. I had to trim off the infected parts and then bought some copper fungicide, which I used on it weekly. You can also use Sulfur, it just smells like rotten eggs.
Little behind in vlogs, so sorry I'm late ❤ I know watching earlier helps you more so I'm trying to be better. I just can't help but comment on Olives little footsteps at 23:03 I can't 🥹 so adorable.
it may not be spring yet on the surface, but in the ground, spring has most definitely sprung! I've even heard the first blackbirds and finches singing their spring song.
This time of year is chaotic for me and your videos inspire me to take time for my houseplant collection and get them ready for the growing season ahead. I have a small flower farm on Vancouver Island and we are just starting to take off with the seed starting season. We have thousands of seeds on the go now and more to start. My houseplants often get neglected during the busyness of the growing season. Love your videos! Thank you
Honestly I didn’t stop over winter, but I’ve definitely amped up this month too! My kitchens always a mess cause I can’t yet do my planty chores and repots outside! Always something on the go 🤷♀️ Why not pull the roots outta the pile of the El choco? Wouldn’t it have a better chance? My ring of fire comes out bright creamy orange each leaf and they change to mottled variegation greens and oranges I love it so much, I’ve been blessed with mine so far
Definitely agree, when a plant starts looking leggy, time for a chop and prop. I recently bought a Philodendron - Ring of Fire as a plant rescue. Its very small, but the new leaves emerge a beautiful red, then go green. I love the look of yours and hope mine will get that big.one day. I love the Rousseau wall hanger. What a great way to display plants on a wall. Happy Valentines for you and your boyfriend ❤🩹.
hey Fern I just wanted to let you know how soothing your videos are. Life hasn't been easy lately and your videos help me get through some days easier. Thanks so much. Lots of love xx
In my experience ROF needs a looot of light to keep the nice variegation. I have it right next to the window AND under a grow light and have gotten some nice colour.
I think for the Burley Marx fantasy, the leaves are pointing that way usually because there's too much light and they're trying to get away from the light. Maybe try using less intense light? My philodendron Burley Marx variegata was doing that and I had to move it further from the grow light and now it's fine.
I had been on a plant burn out for most of the winter and I’m finally getting back into the groove! I’ve definitely been binging your videos the past few days! Happy Valentine’s Day!❤
Oh the broken leaf is my biggest bane this year. A lot of my plants break at the stem when putting out new leaves, eventually not developing a leaf at all or withering away (or I cut them off myself because there won't be anything left of them). I eventually changed the lights to a less intense lamp to stop their growth, but it doesn't change the fact that the new leaves are often damaged and not very aesthetically pleasing. This winter is a hard time for my plants in general 😩 .
I would love to see multiple ideas like this! Especially with spring in the air! Also, you made a comment that made me question if we were gonna have our first UA-camr/viewer argument 😁…..your el choco red is the reason I got mine! But I totally support you if you don’t keep it as I totally agree that it’s better to get rid of a plant if it’s not bringing you joy. Even if it breaks my heart😂
Hi Fern. Really appreciate what you do. I really felt bad for you and things didn’t go as planned,it makes you lose your groove! You have so much to do behind the scenes I can’t imagine how much! Really appreciate YOU! you kept your cool,on camera anyway 😅 Happy Valentine’s Day. 💚💚🪴🌿 Natalie Australia 🇦🇺
Personally, I really like the burle marx fantasy, but don't hesitate to get rid of a plant that does not thrill you. Then you'll have more time to enjoy the plants that do thrill you. My bmf always turns it leaves down, it might be from too much light or not enough humidity. But it could just be something the plant does naturally.
what happened to your amydrium is similar to what happened to my pqraiso verde. what I did was cut off the leaves (a bunch of them) that was yellowing. not very long after that I started seeing fresh new leaves coming up and there w a lot of them. i think what happened to mine was an infection from over fertilizing it. yours could be different. I used different kinds of fertilizer both liquid and also the worm castings and I think I went a little too happy. after I snipped off a ton of leaves tho it gave me very beautiful new green healthy leaves. it looks so beautiful now.
Have you ever over watered your amydrium before? mine looked exactly like that when I accidentally over watered!! roots looked fine and everything. exactly like yours😂
I love that you mentioned Plantsbymelissa's channel. She has great content, and deserves more subscribers. Hopefully some will give her channel a look/chance. I promised you won't be disappointed. 😊
