    This is advice for apples/ stone fruit not citrus. Citrus can be sun burned so u don’t want to prune to open for light to the middle. U also don’t prune 1/3 of the tree as the buds are only on new growth at the tips. You shouldn’t prune a citrus in fall because its still growing fruit. All of this will result in poor fruiting and a harmed tree. Only prune out dead or to keep it from growing into areas with other plants or buildings.

      I'm a bit confused myself because don't orange trees fruit in the winter?
      Is there a difference between when Valencia orange trees fruit from Merlins?

    My orange tree is only 1 yr old. It is a stick about 5 ft tall. Do I chop it off in the middle or let it continue to get taller?
