+quinkadink Thanks so much for this... Guys can we please get this to the top of the comments section? I feel like people especially Christians watching this video have to know the meaning behind Lecrae's songs. A lot of the Christian community hate on Lecrae because they only look at the explicit meanings of his songs and don't look into the implications of his songs. The comment above ^^^ is a perfect description of Lecrae's intentions with the songs. (Also for those who think Lecrae is loosing faith for making "non-christian" songs, he has every right to express his feelings through music)
***** Ultimately it's a too way street. Theres a difference between a sinner who's constantly clinging to the cross asking for forgiveness putting God first and attempting to ameliorate their life but failing from time to time.(thats okay of course) Rather than the sinner who isn't turning to christ despite learning the word daily in church and being deceitful about their desire for God. Outwardly propagating the image of someone who craves Christ whilst secretly living a life diametrically different from the plan God laid out. Of course deceitful people going to disgruntle fellow church members who want to see you closer to Jesus. That being said ; God said to judge the plank in your eye, not the spec in your brothers. (paraphrasing) Only God has the right to judge. Anyone who isn't standing for the word of God is working against God. With the following in mind, provided you genuinely want a relationship and feel judged and NOT loved and informed( there is a difference of course) than I would suggest looking for a church that represents what Jesus said his followers would look like. Followers of Christ : Come from every ethnicity(Revelation 7:9) Don't judge (Matthew 7:3) We are most known for our love (John 13:35) Look for churches with ethnic diversification, lack of judgement and general sense that they love everyone around them. The churches I find that tend to be the most judgemental are those churches where everyone is the exact same race (black or white or asian doesn't matter but just extremely concentrated amounts of one race ) That being said depending on where you live it might not be a multicultural environment, In that case look for churches where people dress as they please, (don't wear suits) and there is age diversification. Churches that have members who spend more time on their outfits than actually reading their bible are the worst churches to attend. My church has children, teens, adults. Black, white, Chinese, indian, Korean etc. Almost every race you can think of. Additionally we wear what we please. Our main concern is spreading love, worshiping Jesus, growing in faith, helping the homeless and overall helping one another. Look for churches like that or tell the church members how you feel. God bless.
quinkadink thank you Brother . I appreciate you elaborating on the meaning of this I was confused as well . If you begain reading and don't know where to start I would say start with Jesus life. He showed us The Way The Truth and The Life . I don't go to church becuase they all judge me for my past. I get funny looks becuase to them I'm a sinner . But the real truth is we all sin and we all want everlasting life. We ALL are unworthy of Gods love still he has blessed us with life so that we might change . I want to change.....
Extremely powerful lyrics! He's trying to talk about the state of the church today, the church that doesn't represent God no more and therefore has to repent because a lot of babies in faith stumble upon modern church. I don't hear judgement in his lyrics only pity and pain for Body of Christ, enough for me to call him a brother in Christ.
People are people, what I mean is lust of the flesh, eyes and the pride of life (three ways sin tempts man) have been here since Adam bit the apple. I am not sure if the church is worst now then when the Pharisees carried out the plan and killed Jesus. Inside of us all is the equal potential for good and evil, as a society are we worst now or are we in a place where the things done in the dark are more visible? I'm not sure; asking in the most humble way? I look forward to your answer...
Fetchem1222 you are right , we all sin ( except Jesus ). But I think Dani Timo is refering to the fact that the church is not as true as it was . In my country (Romania) if you ask someone on the street ''Are you christian ?'' , he will say yes , even tough he doesn't have a personal relationship with God or read his word or do something personal in his life about his belief . They all just go to the church and they don't belive in the right way . The church has become a tradition , people go and give money to the church and the preist buys cars and they bulid massive church with lost of gold instead of helping the poor . I don't think this kind of church is representing Him . In the church I go , there are not many people because people are scared of our kind of belif , we all have personal relationships with Him and we share what He is doing in our lives , we pray toghether and we discut our opinions about the message that our spiritual father gives to us , and we want to see how we can put the message in our lives and I think that represents the church in the real way , a place where you have a father( spiritual father ) and spiritual brothers and sisters . PS : Sorry for my grammar mistakes . :D
Dani Timo He's actually rapping in 3rd person; as someone who sees Christianity from the outside, pretty much a none-believer. He also mentions the most common reasons why people detest Christianity.
Monsielago he clearly raps from a third person indeed, but i think that lyrical hero is more of a stumbled young believer rather than a non-believer. Or a potential believer. "You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to." That's what this song is about, hypocricy and carnality.
One of the most powerful heartfelt songs I've ever heard!! I grew up in the church, sang in the choir, did bus ministry, worked in the nursery and babysat for many people at church. I stopped going for awhile, bout 2yrs,came back to church in DESPERATE need of God and thought I would be welcomed by these people that i.had grown up with. People who had me in thier himes and trusted me with thier children, surely they wont judge me,right?? WRONG,I cried the whole time that I was there sitting in the last row alone because not one person said one word to me. Plenty made eye contact, then looked me up.and down and walked away. Unfortunately the ones that go to church 3 and 4 times a week and claim to know the Bible front to back up and down are usually the most judgmental, hypocritical people. Not all but most and it's really sad to see. That is not how Jesus taught and not how God is. No man can judge another cuz every single one of us has sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Most church goers would do good to remember that.
Many people arent understanding this song. He is rapping about How some people think, maybe even him at one point, how some churches and pastors even act. You gotta understand it before you try and criticize him. This is real a from perspective that's not his but what his been said and what happens in todays world.
Jkila25 unless I misunderstood u I think I disagree I think he was serious in the first part about how it's messed up how the church is only accepting of people that dress nice or r apart of their own culture. Of course all that matters is that we r broth brothers and sisters in Christ
I feel him with what he is saying, I see this type of stuff going on everyday in the church . Songs like this make me check myself daily to make sure I am living the way God wants me to live the right way and not be a fake christian.
This was the song that sent me into overdrive. I legit pulled up to my old Baptist church without a suit on. Dressed in 11Six attire like wassup? Been dressing that way ever since.
I think a lot of people here are missing the point of this song. It's describing someone who thinks they can live in sin because they see hypocrisy in the church, then Lecrae compares that mindset to what the true body of Christ is: a group of believers who will encourage, challenge, and pray for you. "Real saints who pray hard. Straight or gay, drunk or high, they'll walk through the cold weather with you" as it says in the song. This song is not saying that we can continue in sin. This song is meant to challenge us not to make excuses for our sin due to judgmental hypocrisy in the church, but rather to look at Jesus who can truly heal our hearts and change our lives. Despite all the judgmental/hypocritical people around, there is still a very real and authentic Jesus who can change our lives, that's the message of the song.
Dude.... I've been reading all of these comments that all start out with "i think people are missing the point" followed by the wrong explanation of the song... This is spot on Trey Cano
This is actually from the tgird person perspective of the common peoole, not Lecrae's. Saying these churches are bringing out the misconceptions that God Wants only Religious People and Lecrae wants that to change.
This is actually from the tgird person perspective of the common peoole, not Lecrae's. Saying these churches are bringing out the misconceptions that God Wants only Religious People and Lecrae wants that to change.
just so you guys know... He's rapping as a character... the character is saying if church folks, and therefore God, won't let me in because of what I'm wearing then I'm going to do what I want and they have no right to tell me otherwise. It's a message to the church to stop barring the lost from the light... I've been guilty of it but I can't stand it when I see someone who I know is a Christian blow someone off because of something they've done or the way they look... It's wrong.
I think he is speaking in irony. He is speaking from the perspective of a person who picks things wrong in the church in order to give excuses not to go to church or be a Christian. It is true that many churches have many problems and certainly no church is perfect, but he seems to be highlighting in this song the attitudes of the people who avoid church because they really just don't want to face their own sin and brokenness.
Do not be overwhelmed in these last hours brothers and sisters, this is our time to shine. Stand up for your God and help bring others to the kingdom before its too late. No matter how hard it gets, don't venture from the path that has got you this far! Revelation 3:11 - Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown.
Jesus Fan Im not christian, actually I'm atheist. When is jesus coming back? Hes mentioned in (Matthew 16:27,28) “For the Son of Man is going to come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and will then repay every man according to his deeds. Truly I say to you, there are some of those who are standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom.“ And growing up christian I would try to defend this by saying we are the disciples he is talking about. But know that I look back and think of it thats dumb because thats just a failed prophecy.
@@itsmartial1013 come from the heart of care/compassion and do good to your fellow humans, lift others above yourself, be a source of blessing and inspiration and meet others needs, there is no need for religious labels or mental superiority, only a kind compassionate heart which you already so have indwelling within
By the way, to any who wonder what this video is about, its a wake up call to the church. The first half of the song is him playing the part of most people who don't go to church. Then he is showing the church what really matters. Real saints that pray hard and don't think they're better than others. Clothes don't matter. You don't have to get clean to find God. He can find us no matter where we are or how we dress. But the church can help by trying to be more like that.
Celina Halma Hahaha I really think you're right. I never thought Lecrae's lyrics were too hard to decipher. Songs like "Devil in Disguise" always just made immediate sense to me as far as the perspectives he's rapping from and the message he's sharing by that perspective. But I guess it doesn't come that easily to others, or they just don't listen. It's a shame.
If you want to understand this song - take the viewpoint of a non-believer. That's what Lecrae was getting at. This is an awesome piece of art that explores how an outsider views the church. To me - it's a wake up call.
The UA-cam debates all seem to focus on organised church, when the church in Acts was a lot more organic and I believe LeCrae is trying to encourage us to be like that - do church everywhere , not just on Sunday. He makes many valid points about flaws in institutional and emphasizes love of Jesus. Still my favourite song by him
When Jesus left, he said "Go out to the world and preach the gospel". Some churuches today aren't even trying to seek for souls. Some are even lucky to get one soul a year.
Wow, so many people don't understand sarcasm. This Lacrea is really something. He made it while trying to promote religion. Not an easy task in this era, yet he pulled it off. At least it shows how good of a rapper he is.
Songs like this, and lecrae's missionary work, those are why my dad says this is the only rapper he has real respect for. He does not like rap music, but this guy is preaching and teaching the word of god, so my dad who also does the same respects it
+DMACKD mcdavid no he wasn't. He even makes the point that there are good christians through some sarcasm "shows me that I'm not livin up to all the things that he put me here for"
Michael Puglia this song is about a non believer who is making excuses or justifying his own actions for not turning to Christ. Something everybody has felt at one point
Im not saying he's a sell out but his music isn't going to give you more spiritual food than reading the bible and letting God speak to you personally.
Alejandro Juarez So the "im not saying he's a sell out" part was a lil uncalled for...im not saying you are being foolish, but thats sounds like when ppl say "so offense" and say something offensive. Oh and no music but the "songs" in the bible give you more spiritual food than reading the bible.
Anthony Walker his message was well put for it isn't wrong to ask why and if his views can reach the message of why we live to one person then it is well worth it
I'm a 44 year old white female who is from Detroit mi. When I fist herd lecrae I was hooked.I only listen to rap music and since I have found Lecrae rapping Christian music my whole thought process has changed I love his lyrics and his videos and does relate to the people who come from the inner cities and we need more people like him that the kids and everyone can relate to on a Christian level I am so happy that God had let him on the path that he is going on and I hope it never stops cuz it has changed to me and others as well we all love what he's doing and hope it never stops God bless you!
People are not good listeners. He is talking in the role of a person who tries to use the hypocrisies of some churches and "professing" Christians as an excuse for not going to church and to indulge in sin.
@@SS-ye2ck Nope man that isn’t an excuse no church is perfect Jesus walked with 12 un perfect disciples & one that was evil. Paul talks about the importance of church in the Bible.
@@blazanick have you seen the false prophet churches, I am talking about those ones. Those ones,I am not going to attend. That is what I mean after you see what goes on there, you think why to bother going.
Love how Lecrae raps this entire song from another person's perspective. Not the only song where he switches it up like that. Dope style to make you think AND dope beat that hits hard!
If you look at Lecrae in the beginning of this video he wasnt fully sure who he was and where he belonged. The way he looks and acts now he is now fully assured of who he is in Jesus and where he belongs. In CC4 he says " look at me im friends with Kendrick im not a lame. " If you read his books and listen to his story thats how it went down. Hes grown so much as a man of God. I dont care what anyone says hes come so far.
He's right. As long as churches judge people by what they wear or where they came from, they aren't going to get anywhere. The church Is not a sanctuary for the Healthy, saved, and rich. The church is suppose to be a hospital for the broken, the lost, and the haters. How can we(church) help anyone if we push away the people who really need Jesus, because if that's the case, We need to look at our selves in the mirror for once. We aren't perfect or mighty, lets not act like it. When Jesus Protected the prostitute from the church he said, "If any of you are spotless in sin, are perfect, Throw the first stone." Love like Jesus love's people.
Real Talk, God Bless you brother. I don't go to church no more due to that reason I can worship from home, where its only God and I. No one judging me on how I look or how much money I can give to the church.
Dan H Hebrews 10:25-"Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another-and all the more as you see the Day approaching." God wants us to communicate with fellow Christians because it helps us grow in Christ. We can still worship alone, but going to church is an essential part of being a Christian. However, the church should not make a huge deal about how someone dresses, because if we work with them, and help them grow in Christ then they will most likely decide to dress differently. I can assure you that Lecrae himself even goes to church...
Dan H your worst enemy is yourself , you need to find a true church with true leaders that are standing on the word of God and living as God says to live.
Just because someone doesn't wear a suit and tie to church every Sunday doesn't mean they aren't a true leader in Christ. A lot of times I wear a soccer jersey and jeans to church. There should be some limits on what we show up to church wearing, but for the most part God doesn't mind. He is just happy we are desiring to grow in Him. As long as we don't dress provocatively, then we're okay. Just look at the band Skillet, they're Christian and they dress with a Gothic fashion.
I really like how people are debating respectfully here. Usually when I see debates/arguements happening on topics like Christianity, I see people swearing at each other calling people stupid or insulting them and generally being rude for no reason. Even the people who are not christian are being respectful enough to share their opinions without insulting or offenending anyone. Thanks for that :)
Joshua Norris the song was written as a critique of the church. When he is talking about hypocrisy, he is serious. When he is talking about how its ludicrous that people are expected to dress a certain way in church, he means it. In the second part of the song he talks about things that people use as excuses to stay away from god, but in the first part of the song he explains what is wrong with the church
I understand where Lecrae is going with this song.. He's trying to tell people that God doesn't love you for who you are, how much money you have, or better yet for what you wear, he loves you for what you have in your heart.. He's talking about how churches define you by what you wear or what you have.. I know exactly what he means.. I haven't been to any church yet that isn't like this.. I love this song..
FINALLY words we can understand!!! This is what we should hear daily on the radio. I found Lacrae TODAY and have downloaded almost every single one of his songs that I can find. LOVE IT
Still listening to this in 21. Lecrae made me who I am today. I still struggle with backsliding and falling out the church but I kid you not this guy makes me come back to my bible every time.
I had an assistant pastor at my Baptist Church tell me he didn't want me to have my own bible study group because I had no experience and I wasnt dedicated to church as I had an overnight job and couldnt attend as often. Its been hard to find a new church since because I felt I was always going to be judged by someone. This song hits home for me in a different way but it's powerful.
I feel like this song is very sarcastic. I actually looked up the lyrics to make sure what I was hearing was correct, as well, but what it seems to me is that this man is talking about how people (or even him at one point) would point out how hypocritical the church is, which is why he (or they) didn't want to go, but then he flipped it at the end and talked about how possibly the same set of people (or him) wouldn't have wanted to go to church anyway unless they conformed to THEIR (or his) hypocritical point of view and lifestyle, which isn't acceptable for a Christian lifestyle, anyway. So for example he might be thinking, 'They don't wanna go to church because of all the hypocrites, but they also don't wanna go to any good church that might try to stop them from being hypocrites, since it would make them uncomfortable in many different ways.' That's just the vibe I get, I suppose.
His point is that there are alot of people who pretend to be christians(church clothes) and then in the second part of the song, he is talking about christians that do stuff that changes lives(saints).
anyone can go to church but to actually feel Gods message and live humble and not judge others and truly love them even if they hurt you is when you can live free from sin and corruption for many people have an impact on the way this world is viewed and God want people to have an open mind and understand all aspects that's why you have a clean slate from Jesus's spilt blood
People get so caught up in the idea of a perfect God but don't realize that that perfect God didn't make us a perfect church. We have to grow and change as a whole as well to become more like Christ daily. Great message for those willing to listen.
I would love to see Lecrae and another hip hop artist with complete opposite beliefs collab and do a song thats kind of like a back and forth of defending their reasoning for why they believe what they do. Idk sounded like a cool idea to me
+JUi$Y JoE listen to 'Stranger 2 Strange by Evangel ft. Mac the Duolos'. It's an amazingly rhymed and timed conversation between a Christian and an atheist. A phenomenal track that I must recommend.
+JUi$Y JoE Check out a song I wrote called "Dualism". There's two parts to it, and part two is my idea of what God vs. Satan in a battle over a lost man would be like. You can find both videos on youtube under "Micah Johns - Dualism"
Some of y'all really dont understand what Lecrae is saying here. If you actually listen to this song, he is saying that you shouldn't have to change your outward appearance because God will take you as you are. And it is true that churches will look at people differently if they show up in a snapback and saggy jeans. If you listen to his music you should know that he is saying that there is an inner change when you come to Christ but in this song, he is referring mainly to the outward appearance. Along with that point, if you do your research, you would know that this song was written to get the attention of both church goers and non church people. He is calling out the hypocrites in churches but at the same time calling out the ignorance of those who think all church people are hypocrites. They are there but they shouldn't define all of religion. So yes, Lecrae is completely right in this song. He got people's attention and hopefully it will lead to a positive change in the views of both believers and non believers.
If you really want to follow Jesus, you really want to please him and be his disciple. DENY YOUR SELF, PICK UP YOUR CROSS. flee from sin and idols, games, toys, nba, anything that doesn't glorify God. he wants all of your heart, and we pour our hearts in to pointless games and what not. By doing this were breaking the 1st commandment and making God jealous. were here for him not the other way around. If you love anything in or the world its self you dont love Jesus. The end is close, this is the age of deception. Pray that you may not be deceived. God bless any one reading, i hope the best for you all in this wicked age.
Haha I like how you said nba, like basketball is from the devil or something lol. Cause I honestly don't remember God saying games, toys and nba were sins.
How is any of this childish though? So your saying the only way to become a man is to drop absolutely everything that doesn't necessarily have Gods name in it..? I mean c'mon who in their right mind would even consider such a stuck-up, negative religion like that?? This is exactly what hes talking about in this song, "Christians" who think they know better than everyone else buy twisting Gods word to fit their own.. Can you honestly tell me that i'm wrong..?
He's talking as if he wasn't Christian. And I don't even think he's of God. That's why I put this comment here. All those those things are worldly. If you love anything on the world the love of the father is not in you. People are worshiping a creation more than the creator.
Sarcasm dude this song is a sarcastic response to the modern church of today from the perspective of a 'supposed' non-believer yeah but while highlighting real problems in the church & how if this is what Christianity is why hes better without it. Problems like how man decided God had a dress code, how man condemns everything that doesn't bluntly have God in it. Put it this way, if you have clothes that you love to wear and wear from Monday to Saturday but don't when it comes to Sunday Church who are you coming as before God? Are you coming as who you are or trying to fit the criteria of who man says you need to be? Correct me if i'm wrong but Christianity is about building relationship with God right? So if God is my Father, my friend, my Savior, do you think he would care what i'm wearing or whether I enjoy a sport or if the music I prefer is Christian hymn or Christian rap? Who are we to judge right?
I’m a big hip-hop head, been listening to real lyrics and a real message all my life. This man is really the truth and I mean that from all the way to the “real talk” album. 2020-till I’m gonna bump this mans music 🙌🏽

Followers of Christ :
Come from every ethnicity(Revelation 7:9)
Don't judge (Matthew 7:3)
We are most known for our love (John 13:35)
Look for churches with ethnic diversification, lack of judgement and general sense that they love everyone around them. The churches I find that tend to be the most judgemental are those churches where everyone is the exact same race (black or white or asian doesn't matter but just extremely concentrated amounts of one race ) That being said depending on where you live it might not be a multicultural environment,
In that case look for churches where people dress as they please, (don't wear suits) and there is age diversification.
God bless.
thank you seems I misunderstood it. was just bout to comment about that cause I know Christians that wont go to church for this reason. such a shame
Thanks for this. I was a bit confused.
quinkadink thank you Brother .
“Sometimes I wonder what Lecrae would do” - Kendrick Lamar
"If God don't take me as I am then I already got on my church clothes." Probably one of the best gospel song lyrics I ever heard.
The line is actually: "If God gon' take me as I am, I guess I already got on my church clothes."
gon* take
Terrible lyrics compared to gospel reggae. Well basic
I agree
Dani Timo He's actually rapping in 3rd person; as someone who sees Christianity from the outside, pretty much a none-believer. He also mentions the most common reasons why people detest Christianity.
Monsielago he clearly raps from a third person indeed, but i think that lyrical hero is more of a stumbled young believer rather than a non-believer. Or a potential believer. "You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to." That's what this song is about, hypocricy and carnality.
This and "Welcome to America" were the two songs I ever heard by Lecrae. Been hooked ever since
One of the most powerful heartfelt songs I've ever heard!!
2023 and I still come here religiously🙏💯🙏
I feel him with what he is saying, I see this type of stuff going on everyday in the church . Songs like this make me check myself daily to make sure I am living the way God wants me to live the right way and not be a fake christian.
I like how he raps from the perspective of someone who is questions church and church people.
Listening to this 11 years down the road I can say that this song is still goated!
This was the song that sent me into overdrive. I legit pulled up to my old Baptist church without a suit on. Dressed in 11Six attire like wassup? Been dressing that way ever since.
2019 and still with lecrae
And in 2020
@stuffygram charm woooooo!!! way to go, mate!
Oh yeah
3025 now guys
@@JesusSaviour4ALL lol. cool username btw
Thank you, someone who is actually thinking about the song not just hating without knowing about the real meaning.
Dude.... I've been reading all of these comments that all start out with "i think people are missing the point" followed by the wrong explanation of the song... This is spot on Trey Cano
Trey Cano well said brother!!!! Finally someone explained it just the way it was supposed to be explained.
Fresh. Real. Raw. That's why I love it!
And I don't think we understand sarcasm!
This is actually from the tgird person perspective of the common peoole, not Lecrae's. Saying these churches are bringing out the misconceptions that God Wants only Religious People and Lecrae wants that to change.

That's exactly what I mean! :)
Kevin Morales wow kevin.
mrm64 Jason Fitzwater
just so you guys know... It's wrong.
yea you're right, i dont think these people get it, lol, they're slow, lol
Thanks for clearing that up... it took me forever to realize it and I think a lot of people still don't get it.
2023 and this song still hits!
"Behold! I am coming quickly!" (written 2000 years ago)

Who's here after Kendrick shouted out Lecrae on the new song?
Had to come back to this song 🤞🏽
wow +Lecrae that's a great song. The lyrics are so packed with truth that should be taken to heart by every Christian today.
+Celina Halma Well stated. Lecrae is a beast.
***** thanks! ***** i really think that ppl judge lecrae wrongly and dont really listen to his lyrics
Yah ***** I agree
and also people who GO TO CHURCH but want to be a Christian but they have all these excuses
Who’s here in 2021 still praising the lord!
If you want to understand this song - take the viewpoint of a non-believer. That's what Lecrae was getting at. This is an awesome piece of art that explores how an outsider views the church. To me - it's a wake up call.
So true
Discern
No. This is how a sensible person thinks. God is good but religion and church are garbage
This is why I love Lacrae because he's saying you don't have to be cookie cutter perfect to be christian
The UA-cam debates all seem to focus on organised church, when the church in Acts was a lot more organic and I believe LeCrae is trying to encourage us to be like that - do church everywhere , not just on Sunday. He makes many valid points about flaws in institutional and emphasizes love of Jesus. Still my favourite song by him
The sarcasm in this song is of high class. I love his intelligence. God bless him!
When Jesus left, he said "Go out to the world and preach the gospel". Some churuches today aren't even trying to seek for souls. Some are even lucky to get one soul a year.
Kendrick and Lecrae need to seriously do a track together already
Fr fr!
Kendrick is my other Favorite rapper next to Lacrea
+Desroyer Same!
QOdpxd8daa
there not
Wow, so many people don't understand sarcasm. This Lacrea is really something. He made it while trying to promote religion. Not an easy task in this era, yet he pulled it off.
At least it shows how good of a rapper he is.
Songs like this, and lecrae's missionary work, those are why my dad says this is the only rapper he has real respect for. He does not like rap music, but this guy is preaching and teaching the word of god, so my dad who also does the same respects it
I’ve been listening to this song since I was 8, still doesn’t get old
I hope people don't actually think this is what Crae thinks of church. He's talking about church from a non believing point of view.
+MSkateBoss Puglia
I'm not sure thats true. I think he was speaking of himself on that one
But church is full of actors, pastors
I’m still listening to this song
Why a pastor I visit, his church is super casual because he wanted the young men who can't afford suits to be able to come to church.
who knows
That is cool. God sees past clothes. God sees everything.
Real talk where I grew up these "young men" had more $ than the people inside the church lol
God says wear your best, jeans and T-shirt it is then
@@yehyehyehyehyeh6847 ?
I'm old school and prefer gospel but this is a great christian song love the Atlanta setting and church setting
Oh and no music but the "songs" in the bible give you more spiritual food than reading the bible.
actually the whole bible is food for the mind soul and body jesus saves
Don't matter how you feel this track goes hard
People are not good listeners.
He is talking in the role of a person who tries to use the hypocrisies of some churches and "professing" Christians as an excuse for not going to church and to indulge in sin.
Exactly.
Yes amen
But even the other perspective is true, church be full of actors, that's why I ain't at Church
That is what I mean after you see what goes on there, you think why to bother going.
here i am at 36 yrs old and just finding this. THANK YOU!!!!!!
How'd you find this song?
Love how Lecrae raps this entire song from another person's perspective. Not the only song where he switches it up like that. Dope style to make you think AND dope beat that hits hard!
Damn that is sickkkkk
hey your the one that wants to know the we are brave snog right
aurelio beatty yea!
El Tiro want to see it
If you look at Lecrae in the beginning of this video he wasnt fully sure who he was and where he belonged.
Dan H Hebrews 10:25-"Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another-and all the more as you see the Day approaching."
God wants us to communicate with fellow Christians because it helps us grow in Christ.
I have found a church
Just because someone doesn't wear a suit and tie to church every Sunday doesn't mean they aren't a true leader in Christ. A lot of times I wear a soccer jersey and jeans to church. There should be some limits on what we show up to church wearing, but for the most part God doesn't mind. He is just happy we are desiring to grow in Him. As long as we don't dress provocatively, then we're okay. Just look at the band Skillet, they're Christian and they dress with a Gothic fashion.
Damn bro spittin' legit fire!
Yes
Legit and real fire.
Where it all started. Never gon forget this. 🔥
First song i ever heard from Lecrae...this man changed my life with this song!! And i can rap this song too lol
i like the way that he tells the truth about how there are too many divisions in church and the christians that keep the divisions 'relevant'
Wow, my hip hop days are behind me but this song got me thinking. Good work Lecrae.
BARofLUNCH I know what you mean
Most people are missing the point of the song. Pay attention. He's simply naming excuses for why people don't go...
+Taj The Great One maybe in some parts of the song, but most of it was a spot on critique of the modern day church.
so many rather argue then to look at the lyrics and why the song was written
so many rather argue then to look at the lyrics and why the song was written
Joshua Norris the song was written as a critique of the church. When he is talking about hypocrisy, he is serious. When he is talking about how its ludicrous that people are expected to dress a certain way in church, he means it. In the second part of the song he talks about things that people use as excuses to stay away from god, but in the first part of the song he explains what is wrong with the church
He isn't wrong. Js
Still ministering using your music shalom my main man
I remember this back in high school
FINALLY words we can understand!!! This is what we should hear daily on the radio. I found Lacrae TODAY and have downloaded almost every single one of his songs that I can find. LOVE IT
Gravity was my first Lecrae album...
First time listening to this song
You know exactly why you came back here lol
Listened to this song years ago, and this song still just straight slaps. Praise God 🙌🏻
Ohhhh! where has lecrae been all my life?? this guy is sick!!! :D
My favorite Christian rapper
Still listening to this in 21. Lecrae made me who I am today. I still struggle with backsliding and falling out the church but I kid you not this guy makes me come back to my bible every time.
This is crazy, because it's actually pretty true. This is so many peoples mindset. And man, he hit it hard on this song.
I love lecrae.this song is amazing
I had an assistant pastor at my Baptist Church tell me he didn't want me to have my own bible study group because I had no experience and I wasnt dedicated to church as I had an overnight job and couldnt attend as often. Its been hard to find a new church since because I felt I was always going to be judged by someone.
This song hits home for me in a different way but it's powerful.
When I was young Lecrae made it cool to be a Christian. :)
I love Lecrae soooooooooo very very much 🥰🥰🥰🥰 He’s definitely a Blessing.
Why I gotta hear about this 8 years later?! Better late than never but for reals?
Yeeea
Man this dude is killing it on this track!! Wow he speaks the truth!
That being said I don't think it's specifically about not wanting to wear church clothes at church.
WRONG! He is a Christian and loves Jesus! Many people get the wrong idea he is singing about a sinners point of view
Bucco Nation He is rapping from a sinners point of view. Listen to Dear Mr. Christian by Derek Minor. Its also from a sinners point of view.
Man... Definitely missed that old Lecrea. These songs gave me hope and helped me in hard times. Praying you brother we need you.
If you’re back here after Kendrick dropped like this.
Who is listening to this in 2020😁
One of my favorite workout songs
People get so caught up in the idea of a perfect God but don't realize that that perfect God didn't make us a perfect church. We have to grow and change as a whole as well to become more like Christ daily. Great message for those willing to listen.
The church was so holy that his outfit changed when he walked out
LOL
All he is saying that we as the church should accept the way people come in the church.
May God bless all that's listening to this still in 20✌️✌️
I looove lecrae , this song is amazing !
I'd rather sell my soul then save it, if that's what make my money long (1:53) doesn't sound so christian like imho
Anyone else caught that?
Hits just as hard now as it did back then. Stay 116!
Right. I've been a taking a trip down memory lane with Lecrae lately. Lol.
I would love to see Lecrae and another hip hop artist with complete opposite beliefs collab and do a song thats kind of like a back and forth of defending their reasoning for why they believe what they do. Idk sounded like a cool idea to me
I like that idea
Sounds like a rap debate, I love it!
I don't like that idea
"smokin' weed purrrr it uppp keep that lean up in my cup" ⚡⚡⚡🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Who’s here after Kdot just name dropped Lecrae in Watch The Party Die
Daymo Maletino its not a sin its just foolish, 1 Corinthians 13:11. If you are a man you would be putting in work for the kingdom
Most OBVIOUS satire ever I dont see how people dont get this
when he threw the choir dress off i was like.."its bout to go in"
You're suppose to go to church as you are. You're going to serve God. Very good message as always. Great job Lecrae!!!!
OMG This song is the unapologetic truth and this beat goes so hard
it's sarcasm
John Ryan wym?
he singing what people think the churches
My church clothes is exactly as he describes it...501's and J's. No need to judge how people dress when they go to worship and refuel in the Holy Spirit.
Shout Out Lecrae, he's helping to open doors for the revolution
I haven't found a song that I've disliked. All his songs have real meaning & a real message. He makes songs that speak to the soul. All his songs make me think & can being me to a happy place when I'm going through the struggles of life.
Anyone coming back to this after the new Kendrick song?
