    • @12345674309
      @12345674309 Рік тому

      A jeweler won't (if he knows what he's doing) give you a very good price. Why should he? As a goldsmith/gemologist/jeweler myself, I can buy any stone I need for a wholesale price. Your average jeweler, sells for three to five times the wholesale cost, and have the piece within two to three days. Why then should the jeweler put money in something he doesn't have a buyer for, unless he can get it for a steal?

    Good score Shane, best I have done was a custom gold ring with 3 emeralds from a pawnshop for $45, it appraised at $580. The guy at the pawnshop thought it was fake because of the flaws in the emeralds. Should have seen his face when I told him that was how I knew it was real....after I bought it of course. Got to get back into trolling the second hand stores and pawnshops it can be fun and it is mindful activity too. ;)

    I made a Great Score @ an estate sale last year. Went on the first day and saw they had a collection of US constitutional silver coins, Junk Silver.
    They were high the first day, but i went back right before they closed up on the final day and made them an offer for what they had left. With some negotiations I was able to get 8 pounds of pre-64 US mint halves, quarters, and dimes for...........Wait for it !..........$300 cash. Worth well over $3,000 now. But a few months later my wife out did me BIG TIME. She scored 9 oz of 14K gold casting grains at an estate sale, the women who passed was a jewelry designer and maker, she cast her own bracelets, settings, and bezels. The people who were running the sale had no idea what "Casting Grains" were and they asked my wife if she thought $25 was fair for the two bags, one was an oz the other had 8 oz in it. Over eight thousand dollars in 14 K Gold

    Yeah, with the silver metal coin necklace, I found one of my better finds a similar way, the chain was corroded and cheap fake japan but the pendant on it ended up being 14kt white gold with an actual diamond on it....I buy so many things whether they look real or not simply because the small price for the gamble. That same day of tag saling I bought some tie tack and bars and one was 14kt white gold with real pearls and sapphires....also that day spent $10 buying a whole box of jewelry and it had a 10kt chain, diamond engagement ring without center stone, an attocha shipwreck coin and more......As for the large gemstone you found it's really hard to tell if those are real or not. I will always buy them because. Though I know china produces a ton of fakes back many years ago those type of stones were cut and people would bring them back from when overseas or during war. I've found both real and fake ones but $3k-$5k though they may think that is the value street value no matter what is like 1/10th of that in my experience I've had a stone appraise around $2000 but had trouble even finding $100 for it. Just keep your eyes peeled for gemstones though cause you could get a huge score one day from something people think is fake (I know a guy that inherited a kashmir sapphire and it sold for over 100k

    It’s funny and ironic that you got the aquamarine gem added in for free 😆

    Goodwill can also be a gold and silver goldmine, I bought one jewelry lot for around $10-$20 and inside was a diamons and saphire pearl necklace I almost sold for $2000 before it broke pre shipping, in that same lot was 4 other necklaces worth around another thousand dollars......another time I got a lot and everything totaled around $6000 and another time they had wrapped in celophane a set of forks, knives, spoons, etc I got it on it's sale day for just $5 I scrapped most of it for nearly $1000 and it's sale value online was almost 8x that.... goodwill is good for bulk finds and tagsales good for finding hundreds of dollars in value for under a dollar lol

      Yep! I've found my share of treasure at Thrift stores as well as seen in some previous videos. Thanks for the comment!

    Can't you weigh it then use the Archimedes water diffusion to determine it's mass then consult some chart?

    Way to persevere. First, excitement; then disappointment; then finally true excitement :)
