I’m 19, about to turn 20 and I’ve been watching this channel for just over a year now, I’ve learned so much from everyone at jtv and can’t thank you enough for all the knowledge! I’ve just recently ordered a new ultratec machine and I’m beginning faceting lessons in April! Who knows maybe one day you’ll showcase one of my stones 😏

  • @MichaelPhillipsatGreyOwlStudio

Suddenly I'm kind of obsessed with that older rose cut diamond. I really love how that looks!

Hi, as a lapidary that was one of the best explainations on this topic I have ever heard, brilliant, thank you. From Aussie.

Oh my gosh! I loved this episode!!
As a lapidary, there is nothing I love more than, looking and working with stones ❤. You all do such an amazing job bringing awareness to the different materials and techniques involved.
    Love this channel ⭐️
    Stay Crystal 💫

Thank you so much for the information and showing us the beautiful stones. They are all so beautiful. My favorite faceting style is the princess cut. Its just such a clean cut and it has been my favorite for a long time. Thank you for that video.

This is so hard but I love Asscher cut, something about that vintage Art Deco vibe happening there ❤️, but I think generally it's got to fit the colour and gemstone and if it's in a piece of jewellery it's like a symphony where it all has to come together to work well. The colour of the metal, is it a ring, earrings, bracelet, necklace? what's the setting for it? how is it to be presented? It's hard to have a favourite because id need to see the gemstone and it would vary for each stone 😂 as you said, Rebecca, every stone is unique and it depends on what you want to do with it. I can't decide the cut .... I'll leave that to the expert cutters to decide and then I'll just take them all! 😂🙈

I love the quantum cut. Livens up low RI stones like quartz and reduces extinction in morganite. Easy to recognize... looks like the Enterprise going into warp drive.

Fantastic episode Rebecca. You make it so easy to learn new things. I learned all about doublets and triplets today. Thank you!

One of my favorites is a corner-radiant cut on a rectangular stone. It’s like a classic emerald shape with extra sparkle! It’s very vibrant, even on stones with dark color saturation.

Im just a middle-aged woman who finds gems fascinating....i love coloured stones ..and bug white diamonds are at the bottom of my list..
I love they way double colored gems are cut to get the best of both colours (strawberry quartz!!) ..like watermelon tourmaline...
At present in love with carbochon

I have been addicted to this channel and have tried to embrace every ounce of knowledge you so beautifully share with us. I’m an avid rock hound and live very close to a place in Victoria, Aus called Mooralla. I fossick and dig in Bear fossicking field rather often and have beautiful Mooralla Smokey quartz specimens, that only occur in this place in the entire world. If you’re interested in more than happy to send one if you nee and would love to hear more about them from you!! 💎

It’s always a delight to learn from all of you! Thank You so much! I love rutilated quartz as well. I am hoarding some simple cut Briolettes and can’t seem to design out a final set of earrings with them. That piece you are presenting, is gorgeous!

Diamonds are commonly added to fill a defect so the original stone can stay large, or to surround a coloured stone with a bright border.

A super presentation in so many ways. You're a superb communicator, you present rather complex information in a concise, interesting way, and your passion shows for the aesthetic and artisan qualities. Such a fine channel. Thank you and thanks to your excellent colleagues, who bring similar qualities. What a pleasure, and what "brilliant" stones.

You all should have on somebody from the William Holland lapidary school to talk about learning how to facet. Or maybe you all could go there and get some video demos or something.

A question. When does a quartz with rutile and haematite warrant the name of star rutile and why was the rutile quartz set with a diamond not called a star rutile? (I would enjoy a video on rutile quartz/star rutile)
The rutile quartz with diamond was my favourite but I would have liked to have seen this stone without the diamond. Are you able to access a video of this stone in its faceted raw state? (Any jewelers out there, remember to video a history of the original stone any flaws do not detract from its raw beauty)
